This thread is for the discussion of whether you think a persistent battalion can be done in RUSE, as well as a Theatre of War multiplayer mode, as in EndWar.
Personally, I think both can be done. This is how the persistent battalion could be done (fyi this is copied from my post in the Infantry tactics thread):
what if you had a persistent battalion, and you had, say, 10 tanks you could deploy. You would still have to build them in a tank factory or wherever they come from in RUSE, but they are still the same unit as if you build them in a different match. same upgrades, same type, same everything. the same goes for planes, infantry squads, other vehicles, etc.
basically what im saying is that ur still building units in factories and barracks, but theyre coming from your persistent battalion, and you only have X amount of units to build, because you only have X amount of units in your battalion.
good? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I R Gon Say Noes.
Limiting the amount of units you can have on the map at one time would suck. It works great in EW where you have 12 units on a map 1sq mile in size, but in RUSE I don't think it would work. It would limit your strategy. You wouldn't be able to draw some of his forces into an ambush, and hit the rest of them from the flank.
Not to mention NOONE would play as Russia. Cheap but Weak units wouldn't stand a chance against the same units of other factions. RUSSIA = ZERG.

They have some good units obviously, like their artillery, but the majority of their units would be weaker than their counterparts.

Why do people say that the Soviet Union are zerg?
They had masses of men, in Zerg fashion -- but the T-34 tank could stand toe to toe with a Panzer IV, and they were used in such overwhelming numbers.

it could stand toe to toe with the panther, as well. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
@N3V30: i didnt mean limit the amount of units on a map, i meant limit the amount of units of one TYPE that you can build.

Thats what I meant, but you'd still be limited to a certain amount of units on the map.
And Theo, do you know what Zerging is??

It has been discussed in Inf tactics& use.
N3V3O, You're going to be a general in ruse, so having 10 persistant tanks (= 30) would not really be a problem. The problem would be having those battle hardened tanks come at you at once http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. Chopper city here I come

Pieman do you know what Zerging is?? As the Russians are pretty close to the zerg in terms of #'s.... And in regards to how the T-34 places within that Zerg umbrella, you could probably compare it best to the Ultralisk as its can with stand a beating and take out most units with ease.

Zerging is the use of many many inexpensive units to overwhelm an enemy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I can probably see more of the Americans zerging since the Sherman isn't that good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
T-34 if this game is realistic has sloped armor which increases protection

Do you honestly think I didn't know that.
Limiting the amount of units you have works in Endwar because the maps are very small. In Ruse the maps are MUCH MUCH BIGGER. If you've only got 10 tanks, how are you going to hit them hard from the flank. If you playing against Germany who have superior tanks and you both have 10 tanks...Who is going to win??
And Pie, the devs have pretty much confirmed Russia are a Zerg Faction.
Germany have superior tanks.
French have defensive lines.
America gets bombers.
Russia has CHEAP but WEAK units and powerful artillery.

Where has this been confirmed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
like i said i think the US will be a zerg faction with tanks since the Sherman couldn't take on German tanks alone

Pretty much confirmedHERE. (http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ruse/news.html?sid=6206612&mode=previews&page=2)
There are six factions in the game--USA, UK, Italy, France, Germany, and the USSR--and each has its advantages. Russia relies on cheap conscripts and powerful artillery, the US has bombers, France can set up defensive lines like the infamous Maginot Line, and Germany has formidable tanks.
Russia's advantage is cheap, weak units...Game start, unit spam...Zerg.

Not if your smart.
Most people will focus on tanks over infantry or other units. Slap down an AT factory at the start and they lose http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cause you know other then the Sherman Tank being mass produced, the US army just through 100 000's of soldiers into the fire to die in hopes of gaining ground like in the 1st World War or the Russians in WW2...
Also the T-34 was mass produced as it was designed to be easy to do so... But unlike the Sherman tank, it was much more effective against German Armour...

and that last paragraph is why the T-34 was the best tank of WWII
