View Full Version : A New Face from Ubisoft....

An update for everyone:
As of today, the Might & Magic brand will have two (yes 2!) Ubisoft US representatives in the forums. I'm pleased to introduce to everyone "Chris_SCA", who will be adding to our support for this community. Here are some questions you might have:
------------------------
Q: How is Chris different from you, Ache? His title says "Administrator" not "Community Manager"...
A: Chris's focus will be on monitoring forum activity, helping me with collecting data and reporting within Ubisoft. As a side benefit to you, he can answer general questions and direct users to public information. However, the official presence (ToU enforcement) and official information (announcements, demos, betas, etc.) will still come from me.
We hoped that keeping the Admin/CM titles separate would keep confusion to a minimum. We'll see if that's actually the case. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
------------------------
Q: You're lying, this is just a fancy way of saying that you're leaving Might & Magic, right?
A: Um... no. Just no. Read the above answer again.
------------------------
Q: Just who is this Chris guy anyway?
A: He's a gamer just like you, with a strong interest in Strategy and RPG games, making him a great fit with the Might & Magic games. I'll leave any details of the introductions to him, though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi folks! It's gonna be great working on a forum for something that I love so much, games! JOY! And games that are particular faves of mine no less. I look forward to attempting to answer questions and pointing people to places where they can get the information that they desire. Sometimes I'll be able to help and sometimes not, but I can promise you that I will ALWAYS try hard. Talk to you on the boards!
Elementalist.

Oh, and since I have been complaining for ages now about the fact that Ubi is not showing enough interest by officials' posting more on the forum I can only say that I most totally welcome this move.
P.S. Acheval, This:
Q: You're lying, this is just a fancy way of saying that you're leaving Might & Magic, right?
Had me literally lol.
We would never dare to say that you lie... would we? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
Would we ever dare say such a thing? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif
Of course not. If we mention lying we switch to generalizing and start talking about Ubi. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif
(Just kidding.)

Welcome Chris. Question ...
What does the SCA stand for? You wouldn't happen to be a member of the "SCA" (Society for Creative Anachronism). It's a medieval reenactment group. There is a lot of cross-over between gamers and the SCA thus my question. (And yes I am a member of the SCA.)
Regardless, thanks for coming on board.

jimpellizzeri: nope, not a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, though I've heard of it and hear that it's pretty nifty. In my case, it's much more fanboyish I'm afraid! One of my fave game series of all time is Splinter Cell. I've loved up every darned game in that series. For me, SCA stands for Splinter Cell Agent. I guess I could have chosen a name closer to the Heroes universe, but it was early in the morning, the clouds were in my eyes, the cat ate my homework and I didn't have my coffee yet, and thus I went with Chris_SCA http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

And here I thought there were five oceans in the world: Arctic Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean. That would give a 20% chance on a random guess. Of course, it is true that placing the Comoros into the Arctic Ocean or the Southern Ocean would be a strech even if one did not know their location. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi gang! Lessee, played quite a few of the games. Let's see what I can dredge up out of memory:
* Sometime in the mid 90's I got a collection called the Might and Magic trilogy, which I think included Book 1, Gates to Another and Isles of Terra. I think! Long time ago.
* MM VI: Mandate of Heaven
* MM 7: For Blood and Honor
* HoMM 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
* Dark Messiah
Perhaps there are one or two more expansions and such that I played, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
As far as a Might and Magic RPG forum, good question. So far in my (admittedly short) time here I have not heard that there would be. I defer to our more knowledgable Acheval for that one.
Brussles is the capital of Belgium (I've had some mighty fine beer at a few dive bars throughout Belgium. Mmmmm. Beer.) Do I still get points even though I've had the advantage (and pleasure) of visiting there?
Comoros Islands. Hmmm. If I remember correctly, its somewhere near Madagascar, which would put it in the Indian Ocean?
What's all this "burn the infidel" stuff? You should be chanting "burn the ultra neato COOL infidel"! Some people's children...jeez... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Nope. It's seven seas, not seven oceans.
The Mediterranean and the red sea are, (as the sea part suggests) seas and are part of the famous seven seas that everyone talks about and nobody knows just which they are... Unless they have internet and Wiki or course.

Out of the shadows Chris_SCA rode forth,
The demons in close pursuit followed,
But once in the light the knight on the horse,
Turned around and fought and demonic guts hollowed.
As he approached the motley crew,
That watched the battle from afar,
The creatures in it in sight grew,
None of them a Chris-calibre star.
Roman_Lajciak strode to meet the knight,
Humbled by the battle Chris fought,
Which Roman also had in sight,
But where his participation came to naught.
"Sire" he said in a feeble voice,
"Our abode is now also yours,
We would have fought too, but had no choice,
Theirs was too great great a force."
"Teach us to fight in your mighty ways,
So we can be heroes too,
With diverse armies to command in vast waves,
Be they dwarves or orcs or undead true!"
"Your response we shall anticipate,
With great trepidation,
But the thought of leading our men will percipitate,
Also a sense of positive expectation!"
Welcome to the boards Chris! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Oh, and Dergos? Assuming you're serious in your question: "Dive bar" is an expression for a small, slightly disreputable local bar. Which is usually the kind of place to go for the best selection.

I smiled at that too! But yeah, switching topics...I've done a little bit of actual scuba diving, but not much at all (logged maybe a dozen dives in Monterey and Carmel, California as well as off Maui and Oahu).
And back on topic...YES! Belgian beers are something seriously special. Smooth, tasty, and strong as hell! A REAL beer for sure. As for the Tavern, perhaps soon!

Interesting! In Slovakia (where I am from), we were taught about the 5 oceans, but ultimately, division of the 'world ocean' into separate oceans is somewhat arbitrary anyway.

We don't really talk of any difference between sea and oceans here in the Faroe Islands (atleast I don't think we do http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif).- Or we do, but a sea is inland and not conected to the ocean in anyother way than by rivers. And pretty much everyone here know the name of all the seven seas, so I guess we're a bunch of nobodies according to your deffintion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

AH! I've never seen Hoodwinked. Little wonder that I missed the reference http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hoodwinked is a CGI graphics based cartoon film.
I almost forgot about it. I did not bother seeing it either. Probably way too old for this kind of childish film. I think it was directed to 5+ audiences as well.
I hope HoMM6 will have a lot of Enhanced CGI graphics implemented into its core programming.
Welcome to the HoMM5 Forums, btw.
