Just grabbed this info from 1C.

This link has 2 videos from Oleg's beta tester - officially approved videos, I should add.

I use Google Chrome browser which translates the page for me, but if yours doesn't, the videos are unmissable.

Also, here's the link to 1C's update thread.

Here's another vid grabbed from that site under the heading "Day of the Fatherland" or something.
It shows a bit of the game, but mainly shows Oleg, Luthier and two other guys who I presume are from the team. It is strangely captivating. It plays out like some Arthouse movie almost.

Looks interesting! Hope in time a few fields will be a bit expanded! After seeing the list of sea going vessels, that there are no destroyers and next to no military ships, also no freighters just a tanker and various barges and small boats means things like attacks on convoys which was so to say the prelude to the battle of Britain has to wait until a patch or third party add on.

Really? So the Battle of Britain will feature small formations, be heavy on frames over major cities, will lack the number and variety of ships needed to replicate the first stage well?
Anything else?

Well up to now all one can judge is what the makers have released on info and what the beta testers have writen in various forums. The list of ships, did not exactly look like something you would use for convoys, but lets wait until we have the game then everyone will see what is in and what will hopefully arrive in one of the next patches.

I believe Oleg or Ilya said the formation would be in the 40's-50's right now for reasons of PC power, but as fast as things are evolving it won't be long before eveyone can run 100's in a formation, and of course there is no limit in the FMB from what I've heard

That will depend on the PC, but that's also no different than it is now

No offense intended to RSS-Martin but that is speculation at this point, just seeing a list in (presumably) a FMB menu does not mean that's all the ships that will be there in release.

Here's an idea, why don't we all acknowledge that no one but Oleg and team know what will be in the final release and stop speculating about how much it will suck when we all know damn well it will be light-years ahead of 1946 in every respect and will only improve over and over with every patch and expansion....

The Dunkirk evacuation did include a mass 'armada' of 'small ships'. Just about everything civilian that could make it over and back was pressed into service and a few are still in use today.

Well that is more or less what I wrote, that what we have on information, is based on bits and pieces seen on Friday updates and what beta testers have posted. That final knowledge of what is exactly in the release we will first know when we have the game. So please do not see my post as a whine post, that was not my intent.

I remember reading a thread about 2 years ago about a problem they were having with the ship modeling, cannot remember the details, but Oleg said a ship took about 6 months to model, which is one of the reasons i didnt think the game would be out for another couple of years. I dont mind waiting for more ships/ect, would rather have the game early and have ships added in patches than wait another year, but having said that hopefully we will be suprised.
I'm like a kid at xmas atm, the next 3 weeks are going to feel like 3 months.

At this late date, if the release is really as close as is said, why is it still so difficult to get solid info on what this sim will bring to the table? At one time the reason was said to be so that competitors couldn't steal all the great new features that were being built into it. Isn't it waaaay too late for anyone now to sweep in and steal anything?

If we are three or four weeks from release and Ubi is taking pre-orders, I think people should know a little bit about what they might or might not get. Granted, as previous buyers of IL2, we might have a feeling of security buying sight unseen. I'm not so sure about other potential customers.

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Luftwaffe build a special high altitude pressurized aircraft to observe England at one time.

I believe the Brits had to counter it.

Thanks for the posting. You got me on the right track. It was a JU-86 High altitude version I believe now.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifwhen you see what Barfly did with this video in il2 which is now an old ,albeit modded sim now,

You really hope for a HUGE leap in this new sim.

Totally disappointed with the look of this game. I was a HUGE lover of the original IL2:Sturmovik. Loved it. But this game "looks" soo dated, and almost has the exact same identical look as the original. The clouds are an embarassment. Like little fluffy cottonballs. The terrain textures are ok from high above, but get near the ground and its the same identical blurry, pixelated, ground of IL2 Sturmovik. The aircraft? Sure, nice. I'm sure the physics are out-of-this-world accurate, but it's time to make this thing LOOK good as well and it is a failure of EPIC proportions that this game I have been waiting for for years, looks like it was built on an 3D engine from 2002. Doesn't matter if it needs a 512mb video card and supports DX10, whatever.. the END PRODUCT is a horrible embarassment. I would have expected much more after a DECADE since the original. Most of the movies and screenshots I've seen would be hard to decipher whether they came from Forgotten Battles or this new Cliffs of Dover.

Boo, I say. Boo... and a "hiss" to go along with it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
