First of all:
Great job for your latest releases, which were DRM-free.

I really hate DRM and I don't buy any game that requires an internet connection. I've never played Far Cry 2, only because it requires an internet connection. When the new Prince of Persia was released, I read about the game being DRM-free and I immediately bought the game.

In my opinion it's ridiculous to require an internet connection. People who don't have an internet connection can't even play these games. Although many gamers have an internet connection, there are still people who don't have an internet connection at their home or who don't have an internet connection at their game PC. Besdides, what do you do when your internet is down for some reason (ISP is having troubles or an excavator who's working in your street cut the cable in two). I spend most time playing games when my internet is down, because I'm bored when the internet is down. If the game requires online authentication I can't even install and play the game.

I want to be able to install and play a game whenever I want to. That's why I only buy games that don't require an internet connection. It was the reason I DIDN'T buy Far Cry 2 and it was the reason I DID buy the new Prince of Persia.

Will Wheelman be DRM-free, just like your latest games or does it require and internet connection like Far Cry 2. I really hope you've seen the light and Far Cry 2 was your last game with brute DRM and you'll keep on releasing your games DRM-free, like you did with your latest games.

Not sure what's happening with the DRM situation - I *think* there's no DRM on Wheelman PC, in that the build we released doesn't (to the best of my knowledge) has DRM.

And, yep, DRM sucks.

Yes, it's very important to support DRM-free games, so developers'll see they don't need DRM to sell games.

Thank you for the information. We'll see if the game'll be released DRM-free, but I really hope it'll be DRM-free. For me, buying a game or not buying a game depends on the copy protection being used.

True. The companies should know that there are other ways to fight against the piracy without using softwares that can destroy your computer.

Well tbh DRM is just stoping crackers to crack the game..drm On or No same **it gonna be cracked anyway.
The best example for people's stupidity is GTA4.They protected it with security that cost 400k $.Developing the game was i think 600mil $.
+To this soap-drama be more spice-ier people from GTA4 team laughed at pirates and wroted on blogs:
U all are funny.Just keep trying to crack GTA4.IT will never happen. We protected it with 400k$ security system. 3days 14hour and 21sec after it next post was:''Are u so sure?..We srtiped down whole game, even redicilous triggers that u pit into game when is activated by crack(Abnormal camera shaking,Cars are speeding up by it self, etc etc)..and game was cracked and 400k $ of their cash gone with the wind..

They still don't get it. Pirates can't be stopped by using copy protection. Every copy protection will be cracked. Why spend so much money on copy protection? Pirates won't buy your game, no matter what protection you use. You only loose customers who wanted to buy the game, but choose to not buy the game, because of the copy protection. Why spend money on a game that uses brute copy protection while you can get a better game (the illegal version) for free?

I've never played Far Cry 2, Crysis: Warhead or Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. I would've bought these games if they didn't use such brute copy protection.

I bought the new Prince of Persia and I'll buy Wheelman, because they are DRM-free. I'd never buy those games if they weren't DRM-free.

Games protected by DRM: Companies spend a lot of money on DRM, pirates are still downloading the games and customers boycott the games, because of the copy protection. As a side effect DRM also costs a lot of money after the release of the games: Authentication server which have to be running 24 hours a day, customer support has to handle all those phone calls and e-mails from customers who can't get their game to work (it's wellknown copy protection stops legaly bought games from working) and customers who used all of their activations.

Games which are DRM-free: No costs to develop or buy a copy protection system, customers have respect for the company and are willing to buy the games in order to support the company, no copy protections which stops a legal customer from playing the game, so the game will just work (when using a stable and up-to-date system), support doesn't have to handle all of those phone calls and e-mails from people complaning the game doesn't work, customers know the games just work and are more willing to buy games from this company, because they know there won't be any problems to run the game.
