I need help. I am assuming that P.S 1.1 is Pixel Shader or w/e. I was told that my configeration met the requirments for the game.

P4 1.6 Mhz
768 mg of RAM
64 mg Video Card NVIDEA GEFORCE 4/ MX440 (apparently not supported)
________________________________________________
I'm in no ways complaining, and I'm not here to say shame on you UBI you lost a customer you haven't I want to play this game really badly unfortunatly I don't have the fantist clue as to what to do about the Pixel Shader deal.

What I need to know is what to do, is it something I have to download (really doubting that I that lucky). I am really really hoping that Pixel Shader is not something I would have to go out and buy a whole new video card for (which is what I think will wind up happening). Can I download my latest video driver (dout will help) or will I in fact have to go out and buy a whole new video card.

If the later which would you recommend. Keep in mind I am Bill Gates, not made of money. I'm 17 can't find a job and pretty low on money. Any idea what kinda of card I would need? I am preferring something under 100$ But if I'm not able to keep it under 100$ then at least 150-200 nothing more. I honestly don't believe that cards are worth 150+$ but then I thought my cpu would run the game lol. Everything loads up, but the water is not there and my crew look like little green/red/blue martians lol.

I'm pretty desperate and I need help here guys so if your one of those news guys who just likes busting into post with nothing helpful to say please don't even bother posting. But if you think you can help me, well thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

well I looked around the web, I have to buy a new video card http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. Can anyone recommend one in the price range I marked out in the above post?

hmmmm

with that price range, something like a Radeon 9600 XT (about 130/140 bucks) or a Radeon 9800 Pro (180/190) would probably be a good possiblity.

should run SHIII well!

but, it might not be good enough for future games http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

they both support pixel shader 2.0 tho and are at or under 200 bucks.

if u go lower than that, you'll still spend a 100 bucks but the card will suck, so it's a waste of hundred bucks. So better to spend a bit more but at least have it be somewhat useful, hehe

Well, you can get a FX 5200 128 mb for 50 bucks now but if you dont want an Nvidia, go with the above.

I looked into the FX 5200, says the previous problems with the card have been fixed. You said I could find it for 50$? Thats sounds cool. I've read some reviews and they said its pretty good, does anyone have any experiance with this card?

That is assuming that this is the card you are talking about?http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/VGA/Inno3D_FX5200/

Why not spend a bit more money? Try to find an Ati 9800 for as low as possible..This is a midrange card and should be able to play most games ok on a decent pc for a while.

EDIT: Never Mind mate, I found a place that ican order it from for 50$. I will probubly go with this card but I'm definatly going to do some research on it. Does anyone know if SH3 will run on it though? For a fact?

Well its just that I'm really cheap lol, don't tell my girl that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. I'm not going to be here for all summer. I'll be here for one more year after that then I'll be gone again for 4 years. I just need something to hold me over for the time bieng. I plan on maybe upgrading my Mother board (which forces me to use SDRAM instead of DDR.) So really this is a short term solution. After the 4 years I will most definatly buy a whole new rig, but that 5 years away lol.

I did a quick search over on www.newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com) , with a max price of $125, and the best I came up with was a Rosewill 9600XT for $124.99. That's decent, but if you can afford a little more, I'd recommend going up to around the $200 range and snagging a 6600GT. It's more powerful than a 9800 Pro or XT (by a small amount), and should last you until you buy a new system in a few years. I really, REALLY don't recommend getting that FX5200. That card is woefully underpowered. If you have to have a budget card, I'd suggest grabbing one of the 6200 TurboCache models in nVidia, or a 9250 Radeon.

The game looks great on an ATI 9600, Pentium 4 3.06, with less than 512RAM.

I saw an ATI Radeon 9600 for 129.99 at Best buy the other day. I might try and save up for it. I'll probubly go with this card, seems to get pretty desent reviews. Thanks for all your help guys, you lucky dogs who have it, I'll hopfully join you in a few weeks.

You can get a Radeon 9200SE and it runs the game with FULL setting perfectly. It's about 30 bucks on ebay.

Hmm. I have a perfectly-working (slightly noisy fan, but that's it) GeForce 5200 in my closet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

(it has been there for a couple of months since I got a 6800 card). If you're really desperate, I'm willing to part with it for ridiculously low cost - as long as I get a suggestion on shipping it. I really have no need for it, myself http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

None taken, but I installed and played the game at FULL VIDEO SETTINGS (100 particles and detailed and synched textures) with 4x FSAA and AF and it looked just as good at the full res tutorial vids, with the same framerate, no hiccups.

P4 1.8
256 RAM (under minimum)
Radeon 9200SE (one of the worst vid cards around)

i dont think the 9200 supports pxel shader 2.0 tho, which SHIII does take advantage of (i think?)

and it will be crappy for every other game for sure :P

NCIX.com has the Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro on sale for CAN$208.

The Abit Radeon 9550 (essentially an underclocked 9600) can also be had for CAN$87. It's a much better choice than the Geforce 5200 or the 9200SE. It can be overclocked to 9600pro level.
