View Full Version : Mod - Female Heroes (Haven, Inferno & Dungeon)

I have made a little mod so all our female heroes from Haven, Inferno and Dungeon have a female avatar in the world and arena.

It doesn't work in current games so you have to start a new game (er.. not meaning campaign, ok? just the map).

Some images if you want to see it before you bother downloading (warning: big pics):
Isabel's secret twin sister (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/Irina04.jpg)
Irina stats (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/Irina03.jpg)
Iriina ready for battle (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/Irina02.jpg)
Irina attacks (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/Irina01.jpg)
Women of Might and Magic (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/femaleheroes1.jpg)Elrath.com (http://elrath.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30&pid=45&st=0&#entry45)

The download:
Mod - Female Heroes (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WHGXUSX2)

Edit:
Female heroes changed:
-Haven: Irina, Maeve, Freyda and Ellaine. They use Isabel's.
-Inferno: Deleb. Uses Biara's. (Jezebeth already uses it)
-Dungeon: Eruina, Yrbeth and Yrwanna. They use Shadya's.

Unrar the file in your Data directory. It will add the MapObjects directory, with a subdirectory named Haven (that includes the changed files).

There are no female textures/models for Necro, Sylvan or Academy heroes (not that i could find... unless the are invisible or something) so they won't get female versions. If someone manages to create a working duplicate of one of these Haven, Inferno or Dungeon models so we can make them have flags that change color in Hot Seat and the like... it would be easy to mod the textures to make something for there other factions. (although all the undead seems the same to me)

Edited because it was something i should had done long time ago.

The only problem so far that i can imagine with this mod (as i said i haven't been able to test all the situations) is that it's always the same texture, so it will always have the same color for the flag (do i need to explain what means that?).

About making Irina blonde... i suppose that a clone set of Isabel's model settings, and a blonde change in the texture, could work... Would need to check that too. Or take the easy path and just dye Isabel's hair too, right? :P

Wasn't there another female knight model? It was in the beginning cutscene in mission 5 of the Haven campaign.

Nengkan
05-26-2006, 05:47 PM
You are refering to Freyda. Yes, the texture is there and some parts could be used to change Isabel's... but the model isn't there to play with it. The file for the Hero Freyda shows that in play she uses the Knight model (and if you check the Freyda files, you will see that she lacks many files needed for what we want... or at least my newbie eye tells me that).

I'm currently working on a clone model of Isabel settings that uses the same files except for the face, as i have done a mod of that texture for a blonde and blue eyed woman. Need to test it though as i'm still working inthe "cloning" part.

Better like this? I'm still unable to make it different from Isabel. In theory i made some different files that used all the Isabel textures except the head... but didn't work; don't know why yet and also discovered that some files have a texture ID... no idea of what's that (or how to change it if i need and for what) as i'm not a veteran modder (and i find most of the directories a chaos, so i get lost quite often while looking for different file relations).

So there is that problem to solve as well as to have the flag to change color. If someone want to help, don't be shy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Still no progress on the clone thing.

Meanwhile, i have been playing with some more files (wait!!! Shouldn0t i be playing with the game?? Argh! Get ready, The Fall of the King! You are next!). I have managed to make one of the Knights (Maeve in this case) to use an Archangel as model instead of a Knight. It works nice although it lack some animations (or i cannot add them... i'm newbie, remember?). I don't know how to make the model to use the archangel animations for attack or cast spells. It takes well the good morale one, for example. When it moves through the map, there is no animation (dont know if the battle movement one could be used and/or added).

Yet, it's pretty. Maybe next time i'll make a Peasant Hero. Or a Skeleton Archer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
Angelical Maeve (aka Maeve with Archangel model) (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/AngelicalMaeve01.jpg)

Nengkan
05-28-2006, 04:24 AM
If it only was a change in the texture, then i would need the old(s) texture file(s). But i don't have a copy of the beta (Starforce in it anyways, right?).

blah_blah1985: if it was only a texture change, i only need the texture(s). If it also invloves changes in the 3d model... that would need those files too.

Meanwhile, i got a little resquest about female inferno heroes so...
Female Heroes (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S155G2M8)
Pic (big... i should remember that my screen resolution is too big for some people):
Inferno and Dungeon chicks. (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/femaleheroes1.jpg)
With this new rar file, you get female heroes for Haven, Inferno and Dungeon. Changed heroes are:
-Haven: Irina, Maeve, Freyda and Ellaine. They use Isabel's.
-Inferno: Deleb. Uses Biara's. (Jezebeth already uses it)
-Dungeon: Eruina, Yrbeth and Yrwanna. They use Shadya's.

To use them, just unrar the file in your data directory and you are ready to go. Same advise as in my first post... so check it.

Edit: hmm they still have that flag issue... but i suppose that you know that clicking over the hero you know to which player it belongs... right?

how can I download the file ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Nengkan

You click here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S155G2M8). In the new page, you will see something like this:
MegaUpoload "Waiting" message (http://jiyuujin.iespana.es/mu.jpg)
There will be a countdown (marked by the red arrow in the pic; sometimes a popup appears over it so you have to close it to see that part). Once the count reaches cero, you can click that part to download the file.

Yes, i know that megaupload sucks (and if you live in Argentina, for example, you can't download from it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif) but i don't know of other sites...

This is a fantastic idea. As a female player it always bothers me when a game is unbalanced between male and female characters. Was sorry to see H5 do that.

But my question is, when the patch comes through will the mod interfere with the patching process at all? Meaning errors on patching etc.

Nengkan
06-01-2006, 11:53 AM
I just changed the file's route to what model to use for those female heroes. Unless Nival messes with those routes, the file names or something like that, i don't see why there should be any problem.

You can always "uninstall" this mod by deleting the files that you can find in the .rar file (forgot to add a txt file with the files changed... i'll take note of that for the next time). As reference, all the files used are in the directory data\MapObjects\*
Where "*" is the name of the faction (Haven, Inferno and Dungeon).
Haven hero files are: Axel, Maeve, Nathaniel and Ving.
Inferno hero file: Deleb.
Dungeon hero files: Almegir, Eurina, Menel and Urunir.

Hey Nengkan, nice job on the female heroes!

But how about the other factions(wizards)

my favourite female hero Johra, has an ugly male avatar....she looks like a old man with a pipe in the mouth......thats so......ridiculous.

hope this can be fixed too...so i am finally able to replay academy again.

Nengkan
06-01-2006, 06:32 PM
I have already checked all the factions before uploading this mod. Academy, Necropolis and Sylvan lack female heroe models. Necropolis has some campaign characters but all of them are male. The same for the other two factions.

The only way would be to duplicate other factions models and change the textures with Photoshop. I already tried that with Isabel's but i don't know if i failed because i didn't take all the needed files, or if it didn't work becuase of something in the code.
<--- newbie
As i don't have now the time and the directories seems a chaos to me, i won't try that again in some time. If it could be done, not only you could get female heroes for the other three factions, but you could also mod it so the flag can change color.

Anotehr option, is to use creature models as hero. Already tried it and works partially. I used an archangel model for Maeve (Knight). The problems? It looked pretty but it doesn't use any animation when moving. In battle doesn't use any animation when casting a spell or attacking. Maybe that has no solution, or maybe someone who understand better animations, could make it work completely.

Maybe someone from the Treant thread...

Elrath.com
06-01-2006, 06:40 PM
an angel for a hero, or another creature could make for a very interesting campaign story.

Nengkan
06-01-2006, 06:45 PM
Yeah, i know. I made some tests with Archangel and Archer. But it's only useful if you don't mind the lack of animations. The archangel movement isn't so bad even without animation but the archer...

What i'm trying to say is that i'll take a look and see what i can do. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I had already unpacked the patch's .pak and Jezebeth's file (oddrema) didn't seem any different except for the DemonLord instead of Biara model.

I discovered the problem with both mods. If you try to use them in a pak file, the game doesn't run. If you unpack them (well, mine isn't packed... although the version in my comp was), they will work.

I have to correct Pakje_Melk's about Jez's model in the Hero screen. I think that's the only wrong thing. I'll try to check everything now before going to bed. If i have it before that, i'll post the files in a .rar

It's Pakje_Melk mod with a corrected Jezebeth (in hero screen she appeared as DemonLord), and the file being a rar instead of a pak.

After all the updates it's time I post mine.

Nengkan, I'll just post my updates in this thread so you can apply them on your version over on Elrath.com...

This one has your 1.1 updates and my additional updates. (read the femaleheroes_mod.txt that's in the /characters/heroes/ directory for all the changes and versions)

So to add to all the confusion here's the link to my version:
Female Heroes mod 1.5 (http://www.xs4all.nl/%7Eaxhoff/hommv/femaleheroes1_5.zip)

Use: unzip and put .pak file in hommv data dir. If you have previously installed an older version of this mod => (re)move it.

As a side note: I have no problem using the .pak file(s)...if you do have a problem you can allways rename the extention to .zip and unzip the stuff inside.

Greets and bundles of fun,

Pakje Melk (a.k.a. Milkman but that name was already registered...)

------
ps: Nival should have made _all_ heroes have a unique look, but that's just my opinion. After all it's HEROES of might and magic, not Factions of might and magic...

I just wanted to say a BIG THANKS for this mod. This is a step in the right direction for more unique heroes.

Perhaps for Necros as a suggestion... Using Markal for the Male heroes and leaving the females be the cloaked skeleton. Just a suggestion though. Naadir(the ghost) might be able to use the Wraith model and if you can get him to use the harm touch animation for casting spells might be a good substitue.

I had some trouble installing the female hero skin on an european 1.6 version of HoMMV but I finaly manage to get

it work so I just put it here so that it can be of use for somebody else.
If you just put the "femaleheroes1_6.pak" into your data directory it wont work because the patch introduce a new

file "p3c-data.pak" into the data directory that also overriden some of the model (on the map at least) and seem to

take priority.
So to get it work you should override the relevant content of "p3c-data.pak" by the file contained in

"femaleheroes1_6.pak".
Here is how you could do it:
-Go to you data directory and rename "p3c-data.pak" into "p3c-data.zip" (because it is a *.zip file) then

extract all its content into your data directory. If you done it right you should have a directory name

"MapObjects" into your data directory (and many others).
-Now do the same thing for "femaleheroes1_6.pak", i.e. rename it "femaleheroes1_6.zip" and extract its

content into your data directory and answer yes to any replace file prompt.

That should do it.

To be a little more clean you could compile the change in another *.zip and rename it *.pak and replace all of the

messy file in your directory (not including the other *.pak of course) by a single file.

This mod is ossom even today, it even works with steam. There is only one tiny little thing that distracts me. The models are there but not the sound effects for them. Its not bad but just a minor detail that is a minor nuisance but does not distract you if you don't listen to it closely.
