If you had to defense your town and you stand behind your wall and defend-towers, the towers decide itself where to shoot. But wouldn't it be nicer if you self could decide which arger/mage to put into the defens-tower and who to attac?
You should also be able to decide how many of the choosen unit to put in the defens-tower, so the tower wouldn't have always the same damage!!
That would give a bit more dynamic in the fight.
What do you think about that guys??

seems good idea as in HMM4 units had towers to stand and retaliate with agreater defence as well as the standard towers with the default unit attacking the invader. but choice for the deafult in the tower only shud be a choice at the cost of say a few gold or some resources

Sure, the towns should be involved in the battle scenes specifically. H4 towers didn't look great but it was logical to have any number of ranged units place their and have their defences boosted because of the distance.

Great remark. I vote fot that. I don't want to sit and watch the battle. I'd rather want to participate more and more from my defending town.

why don't they add a call to arms when you or the enemy's town is under attack? Of course, you would have to give up some resources or something, but it would be more involved!
I agree about the previous suggestions too btw!

You did play H4, no? That pretty much describes siege combat in that game.

Maybe the various war machines of H3 and the siege walls/towers combined with the ability to set archer placement a la H4 would be a good solution.

I think we should return to the H3 system with towers and warmachines, but maybe it would be a godd idea to decide which tower (magic, archers,...) you want while building your castle.

Heroes 4 sieges fit under the description of "good idea, bad execution".
The siege towers did make more sense than the turrets, which allowed a few dwarfs to kill a moderate sized army. The attack boosts are indeed high on the towers, but at least, you actually need ranged troops to man them.
But I would like to see some war machines back in Heroes 5. Perhaps attach a special skill to them.

I see nothing of "bad execution" here, or more generally in H4 siege combat for that matter.
