Please why not call it an expansion !

This is absurd, unless it uses another engine or has modded this engine (i'm sure UBI don't have engine rights) then please call this an expansion and not FC2.

You are setting yourselves up to fail really badly here and trying to sell on just the name alone where every PC gamer would know that Crysis is the FarCry sucessor not your rehash. People would be much more interested if it were an expansion and not, like so many publisher try and do, a 'NEW' title.

I may be wrong but please let me know how this will so drastically differ from FC to make it a worthy sucessor (although none of the team who brought us FC are working on it!).

Why not wait for some more details before making such harsh judgments? We don't even know anything about Far Cry 2 yet, it's a tad bit too early to be trashing it as a 'rehash'.

Maybe so, probably now thinking about it UBI did change Ghost Recon and now have GRAW1/2, they did change the RvS Series and we have such a wonderous game as RvS:Lockdown (Sarcasm), I am just jumping the gun and expecting an attempt to try and jump on the Crysis band wagon and release a poorly coded / sub standard game made by an unknown software house at the same time Crysis is release to confuse the buying public into purchasing it.

Hey, who knows, it may be better than anything out there to date, I am open to anything.

they purchased the rights to the engine over a year ago.. and they leaked FC2 conception shots to gauge interest very long ago, I dont consider this as really jumping on the bandwagon. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Exactly. Far Cry 2 and Crysis are two completely separate, unrelated games. The only thing that Crysis has in common with Far Cry is that they're both developed by the same person, and they're both FPS games.

Ubisoft purchased the rights to Far Cry from Crytek awhile back, as Rizno mentioned. This game has been in development for quite some time, there's no "rush" to cram this game out the door to compete with Crysis. If that was truly the case, don't you think that there would have been an official announcement long ago, and that FC2 would be releasing around the same time as Crysis?

Crysis is going to be an awesome game - but it's not going to be the end-all/be-all of computer gaming. There will be games coming out on PC afterwards that will surpass even Crysis.

and farcry 2 is completly different game and will be awesome its to early to say anything more about it.

It isn't an expansion pack, obviously a FarCry "expansion pack" would be FarCry Instincts Evolution, the sequel to FarCry Instincts on Xbox. And obviously, most "Expansion packs" by Ubisoft are often made a year later of the original. Far Cry 2 is a different game, the only thing new so far is the concept art and the videos in which a developer is polishing a car and a Desert Eagle.

You can't judge a book by it's cover, you have to open it to see the majority amount of differences.

Crysis is NOT a successor of Far Cry. Maybe a spiritual one, but nothing in Crysis will be connected to Far Cry.

The reason its not a Expansion is simple. Is Call of Duty 3 a Expansion of Call of Duty 2? No, even though CoD3 was not developed buy the guys that made CoD and CoD2.

If you even bother to take a look at the teaser site, you will see that the tropical Island locale seems to have been changed, Africa maybe? And that post stamp says 1929, prequel perhaps? The concept art and the videos can be only to fool you. So stop whining, yeah Ubi FC's where not that good. But Ubi Montreal is a great developer.

Well i really dont care if you call this a sequel a Expansion or a brand new game i just hope this brings back the multiplayer assault mode without lag and pb issues.

Graphics and new things are important but what really matters in a game is the playability and the joy of playing it.

XTv4 is due for release in the near future, which is much improved on XTv3, and should address lag/pb issues.

I hope FC2 doesnt use PB.
