S! All,

I had this difficulty before when I was exiting the game. It would freeze, and after ctrl/alt/del it would show in the Task manager as not responding. This wasn't a big deal, as it always happened on exit only.

There is a read-me about P4 processors and IL2_core.dll and IL2_corep4.dll.

I was supposed to delete the corep4.dll and make a copy of core.dll and rename it corep4.dll, which I did, except I did not delete corep4, but merely put an x in front of it.

This did not help the problem. I was still freezing on exit, so, silly me, I thought I might have misunderstood the instructions, and put an x in front of the core.dll file. (xIL2_core.dll) Then I go to Hyperlobby, but it freezes when I try to choose a plane. No problem, (I think.....silly me)

I go back to find xIL2_core.dll to remove the "x" but lo and behold, xIL2_core.dll is nowhere to be found, but IL2_core.dll is there again. Ok, so, IL2_corep4.dll is a copy, right? I make a copy of it, remove the "copy of" at the front, and the p4 at the other end. Back to Hyperlobby, the game still freezes when I try to pick a plane.

Help, svp.

Pierre

Geesh. Sounds like you really buggered it up. HEHE Not funny of course but a bit confusing. Anyway, it would have been better if you would have just made a copy of the file you put the "x" in front of, then deleted it from your game folder. But we live and learn, especially with this sim. The only thing I can think of, short of a fresh uninstall/reinstall, is that you browse the game cd and find those files, then copy and paste them into your FB folder. Which game cd to look for them on? Well, I would start with the cd you use to run the game on, and then work backwards. If this doesn't work, then you may need to do a fresh reinstall of the game.

Btw, there is a reason why it was freezing before this happened, yet you accept it as normal. Once you get this issue straightened out, and if it starts behaving as usual with the freezing on exit, then you should post back and maybe we can find out why this is happening and get this issue fixed also.

I noticed this is your first post. Welcome to the Community Help forum m8! And don't be a stranger to the other forums around here either.

Heh, well... of course this bothered me, but as it only happened on exit, I felt that I could live with it for a while. It has taken me a few years to get to this point, and I just wanted to explore the game, finally, and put the problem off 'till after the shine has faded a bit. I am sure you know what I mean http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Your advice is appreciated, and I will try this.

I am still getting used to XP as well, which complicates matters somewhat.

Thank you for the kind welcome to the larger community. I am a veteran of RB3d, and am just now joining the rest of the WingWalkers here.

Update:

Couldn't get files from disk, they are packed. ended up re-installing. Everything seems to be working as it should now. Thanks for the help.
