View Full Version : Calorie Crushing Challenge?

Just curious if anyone else is also getting no entries for the Calorie Crushing Challenge despite burning the 200 calories required?

I know we shouldn't expect much given the other website issues but it's going to be pretty good odds for those 922 people who are getting credit to win the trip! Actually, only 59 people listed in their leaderboard have actually registered 200 calories. There are 858 people with 0 calories burned!

Same for my account as well. I downloaded the registration and did two days over 200 cal burnt but it is still showing up as zero on the site. Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Mine is also registering at 0 though I only have 130 calories so far since yesterday, so maybe that's why mine isn't appearing. Still doesn't explain why those with over 200 are having trouble though.

foosifur

The website should track you even though you have less than 200 calories for the day (you can see other people being tracked with less than 200 total calories burned online). The problem is that it seems to either work or not work and right now it's not working for 85% of the people who have signed up, so it's a pretty big problem.

I've got a UPlay account, and registered here and for the challenge. Burned 200 calories each day for the last 2 and still nothing shows up. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you guys.

Sorry for the double post but here is a new Facebook post regarding the contest:

"The “Your Shape™ Calorie Crushing Challenge” has been temporarily suspended due to a reporting error on the website. Some users experienced difficulties having their calories calculated. In the interest of fairness, we are suspending the contest until the problem has been fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience and will notify you as soon as the problem has been resolved and the Challenge is resumed."

I got an email too. Even though I only had about 130 calories into it, and gain calories so slow in general no matter how hard the workout, that I'd have to work out hard all day to even have a hope of winning, it was still fun to have *something* going on.

Too bad it wasn't considered an event so that we could at least get that achievement.

Yeah, I looked at the site again this morning and I don’t believe the challenge has restarted yet. It looks as though they are starting it completely over. Seeing as how things have gone that doesn’t seem like a bad idea. They’ve updated the original message to include the following:

“Once resumed, the Challenge will be re-set to the beginning of week one. … Keep up the great work playing Your Shape™ Fitness Evolved to reach your fitness goals and best of luck in the upcoming Challenge!”

I have received two emails within the past 24 hours saying that the challenge is back up and running as of Wednesday, January 26th at 12:01 a.m. PT.

So, I worked out this morning, busting out a nice 403 calories. I even checked the Your Shape Center to confirm that my calorie count had synced. Guess what my score is on the challenge site! Zip, along with everyone else. Supposedly it was updated Jan 26 at 10:05am. Way to jump the gun Ubisoft/Xbox. Is anyone surprised?

Same here. I happened to be up at 12 PST, 2 am my time. Thought I would get a jump on the challenge. I worked out and burned over 400 cals. Still not posted to the standings or will it? Have I just lost those cals? Guess we'll have to see if anything changes.

The whole thing is really quite sad. You'd think it'd just be a simple query. They obviously have the date since it shows up in other areas just fine.

My bigger issue is that you'd hope after what happened the first go round they'd make sure they got things right before doing it again. I think many of us would've gladly waited until Saturday for them to start the challenge with it working properly rather than them rush things and have issues. I'd prefer them get things right instead of trying to rush the process and messing things up.

Yay, the leader board is finally posted http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Boooo, it’s broken! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

I find it extremely hard to believe that the top three burned 6607, 6207, and 5627 in only one day. They are either cheating, the numbers are screwed up again, or there is a glitch in the game that is being exploited. I don’t know if Michael Phelps would be able to burn almost 7000 calories in one day using YSFE. That’s absurd.

AuntieParticle
01-27-2011, 09:24 AM
It's broken! This is the exact same thing it was doing before http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif Giving tons of calories to some contestants and none to others. Though I worked out with over 200 calories both yesterday and today I am still at 0. Absurd is right http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It is my opinion that they should just give it up, and Microsoft should give all the contestants an event achievement and a nice handful of Xbox points to spend. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

For a little proof that things are busted the #1 leader right now is renji340 with 6,607 calories burned. Renji got the 6k achievement on 1/23 (and the 5k achievement on 1/6) and doesn't have the 7k achievement yet, so he's clearly getting credit from somewhere other than his own gamertag's efforts.

Also for the record the calories I got last night are posting as my today calories, but they are correct.

chaos777c
01-27-2011, 09:53 AM
Nano, I hate to hear that they aren’t even posting your results. I, like alessusnik, was surprised to see mine posted and correct. That led me to believe that it may just be possible that Ubi finally got it right but some people may simply be cheating the system. Hearing that they don’t have your info posted is encouraging and discouraging.

It was encouraging because it gives hope that everyone is playing fair and this is just an error on Ubi’s part (again). I think the idea of this challenge is fun and it is good motivation to push a little harder to stay competitive. If there are a bunch of people out there that are simply cheating for prizes it ruins the whole thing. No one is legitimately getting 5000+ a day.

At the same time it is discouraging that Ubi started the whole thing over and still they haven’t managed to get it right. What’s the point in starting over if you haven’t made sure you’ve corrected the initial problem? To me that reflects poorly on everyone involved with this game; and that is sad because I like the concept and have high hopes that they can improve upon it in the future. Seeing as how they can’t smoothly run a contest given two attempts is disheartening.

Alessusnik, I can think of a few ways what you suggested could be done, but I don’t want to mention them to give any ideas to someone that may actually try to do it. I’m holding out hope that that isn’t the case though…

Ok, my detective hat is coming off after this one but all 5 of the top 5 achieved their calorie achievement of 6k, 5k, 4k a week ago and I believe that all of their #'s are actually their life to date calories burned, not for a day or anything. Also, they aren't getting the 1k achievements often so it's not that they are working out particularly hard to get these scores. So this is also reassuring in that I don't believe these people are cheating, they are just getting the benefit of a screwed up system. None of them have even gotten an additional 1k calories burned in the last week based on their achievements.
I also wish that this challenge had just dropped the "most calories get a prize" aspect to discourage any potential thought of cheating. 200 calories is a good target and getting a "ticket" for a prize for getting those calories should be good enough.

alessusnik
01-27-2011, 10:32 AM
i would love to see 10+ households being able to do 5000 cals a day... how many idiotic people in one household, each day? :-)

ashen_saint
01-27-2011, 10:56 AM
I noticed the same thing foosifur did. I'm inclined to believe that no one is cheating but that the system is still broken, which I don't understand. It updates almost instantly on yourshapecenter.com, so why not use the same system on that website to update and keep track on the calorie crushing challenge?

It took them a whole week to notice it was broken and suspend it. Nearly a week later, supposedly fixed, and then it will probably be another week before they suspend and "fix" it again. I still keep up my regular exercises, but this competition definitely encouraged me to step up my performance. It's just a shame that Ubisoft is having so many issues because it really does reflect poorly on the game and the company as a whole.

AuntieParticle
01-27-2011, 02:30 PM
I'm also certain that it's unlikely people are cheating. I saw the board go from all zeros to the high numbers within minutes. And I'm sure all those people didn't suddenly get the idea to cheat all at once and at the same time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif They are as much victims of a broken system as I am with my continued zeros.

RicTheDude

The people getting 6,000+ caloried burned in a day are going to win the game by coming in the top 5. Other than that, they get the same 1 entry anyone that burns 200 calories a day gets. As long as it's registering your 200 per day that's all that should matter. I never had any intentions of trying to get into the top 5 anyway, just want my chance at the drawings.

AuntieParticle

My number posted as my total from the beginning of me playing the game. I did 410 yesterday right after the challenge was suppose to go live and 235 today so far. Mine says over 1K as my burn for the first day.

Hope they get it fixed and not reset it. I like the calorie burn, but would like it to be part of the challenge.

I just got this in my mailbox this morning:

--
reetings alessusnik,

We just wanted to let you know that the Your Shape™ Calorie Crushing Challenge is temporarily suspended because we are experiencing a calorie-counting error on the Challenge website. We want to ensure the challenge is as accurate, so will be suspending it until we can assure all issues are resolved. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

When we're up and running again, the Challenge will start over. As originally planned, the promotion will have four entry periods where you can burn 200 calories per day and be entered to win a Grand Prize adventure vacation of a lifetime and a Weekly Sweepstakes Prize of 1,600 Microsoft Points! And the top five calorie burners each week will still be able to win a Ubisoft game for Xbox 360®!

So stay tuned and sorry for the inconvenience. We are working hard to try to resolve the issue as soon as possible and we will send another notice to let you know the date and time we'll be back up.

Keep up the great work playing Your Shape™ Fitness Evolved to reach your personal fitness goals and best of luck when the Challenge begins!

Thanks so much for your time and patience,

Your Shape™ Fitness Evolved Promotion Administrators

Let's do some "counting" for UBI, but not calories....

Website developer involvement...count = 0
Promise of a patch for known issues...count = 0
Promise of an event for achievement...count = 0
Calorie count contest that works...count = 0

If there was a leaderboard for fitness programs YourShape would be in bad shape.

ashen_saint
02-17-2011, 07:03 PM
Bumping for great justice.

It's been several weeks now and no update? What's the status on getting this back up? Since there might not be an event until March sometime (maybe), I was hoping this would pop back up. It's a good incentive and motivator but the lack of preparation in this makes me uninterested in buying a future Ubisoft fitness title.

I'll most likely make the EA switch once I've completed the achievements for this game.
