If I want to play online and I am on a PS2 and my buddy is on a MAC, can we play together even if we are on dif platforms?

Thanks

Sorry no. Besides the fact that both games use different engines, they both have different features.

Multiplatform games would be great but
game companys keep on refusing to support it.

One thing I see arising with multiplatform
play would be the poeple using Keyboard
and mouse would RUN CIRCLES around the
slower paced joypad/joystick users
since Keyboard and Mouse is the far better
and fast responce method .

If the Ghost Recon and Rainbow six games
were developed by ONE TEAM from the start
using the same engine , same data files,
same maps and used methods like
Opengl , SDL , openal then it might be
possible for multiports but games these
days seem about Money not about giving
great features to customers

The lastest MaximumPC has something about just this very thing with Shadowrun. The PC guys womp all over the console guys.

MaximumPC March 2008:
We love console gaming, but it's time to face facts: The gamepad simply can't compete with a mouse and keyboard in first-person shooters. The game-pad can be precise or fast--but not both at the same time. Shadowrun's fast-paced combat leaves us with a deep appreciation of the, umm, handicaps our console-bound brethern must endure. Sure, we were annoyed when we out circle-strafed our enemy and they accused uf of "hax," but now we know what Fatl1ty feels like when he plays commoners. And believe us, it feels good.

Personally, this is why I do not want to have crossplatform capabilities built into a game. GR (from 2001) would have to have been dumbed down to give (as games of today would) to give console players a slight chance of winning. it's bad enough that R6 and GR are now linear shooters with completely scripted missions (no openendedness), kill everything that moves stories and areas you can't go on a map, but do not hobble them with worse control schemes for the PC versions.

Ive always belived that FPS and RTS games
should NOT BE ON THE CONSOLE if they DONT
support using a Keyboard and mouse
but the only way that new gamers
that have only played FPS/RTS on console
will see that K/M is far better is with
cross platform play and keyboard/mouse users
running rings around the slow joypad users.

But companys since 2000/2001 followed down the
path of watering down gameplay , reducing coop
support or removing it from games all together.

I dont think it would be too hard for consoles
to support a standard usb keyboard and mouse
since they can do high end stuff like High def
resoultions , decode hd/blueray/dvds yet it
doesnt do the simple things like using Keyboard
and mouse as the primary method .

But in the end customers and community never
seem to have a say in the direction of gaming.

I know of one company or dev house that is allowing just that. It has been mentioned around here now and then. Maybe you should drop by if you already haven't though for some reason, I think you already know and are there. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
