in all the driver games I've been really upset with the unrealistic crashing or when u blow up a car they all end up looking the same empty shell another thing is the same parts come of the car it should be different for all vehicles

P.S reflections i hope u fix this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
how about when u crash airbags release http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

The damage was realistic in Driv3r and Parallel Lines. Although it was more realistic in D:PL (people think Driv3r was the most realistic, but that's wrong). But I do like the idea of having airbags, they should also put in seatbelts that they playable character will actually strap across his or her lap. The seatbelts save lives!http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Airbags and seatbelts? WTF is this, a safety video? All that should happen is the car smashes awesomly, don't worry about realism, games are about fun

I agree. Seatbelts should be a given thign assocaited with gettign IN the car.

But real crashes that injure the driver and passengers would be aweosme. But that would have to be taken into account, it would create extra tension.

Airbags are cool though. I can imagien it being a hindrance of safe cars, when you crash the airbag means you have to get another car.

Just crashes please... realistic ones.

Yes Driverman, I am wrogn bcause my opinon was that Driv3r had better crashes.

You're not wrong, D3 had Much better crashes, the cars flew everywhere and actually could flip around more than once, its the coolest part of the game. All the realism in DPL made it so boring, crashing cars is no longer fun, they might as well take the damage out at that point. Reflections, that was sarcastic.

No, I think Driver 3 was extremely realistic actually... I dunno, but we both agree Driver 3 had better crashes. Certainly better looking.

We have to consider what the console the game is played on can achually do. You'll notice it's the same things falling off all the time. That's because the last generation consoles don't have enough processing power to create unique and realistic effects such as completely crumpling your vehicle.

If anyone here as played DIRT the vehicle crashes achually look fairly realistic, we should be able to see something better than that.

Dirt is clever.

Althoguh crashes controlled totally by physics aren't far off in terms of games. DIRT is the start. Burnout Paradise also looks to ahve it, I can't tell though.

Burnout Paradise will hopefully give the cars more weight to the crashes, as previous games made them floaty, like in Driv3r.

I would however like to see more exaggeration in the crashes, so when you hit head-on, maybe the cars rear tails pop into the air and smack each other, then bash into the ground after their front ends crumple accordian style with enough speed.

For side impacts(my personal favorite type of crash), I'd like to see the impacted car get plowed and crushed, deforming the car into a V shape, when hit with enough force. And if a big rig hits it, it'll turn into a pancake.

Technically speaking, If Reflections has to replace the orginal vehicle with crash versions(replicas) for huge impact damage at the moment of the crash, so be it rather than using the original model all the time.

I'd like to cause damage, but still ramp off cars like in the movies, unrealistic, yes, but it looks really cool.

Also, on damage, I would like to see parts flying off the car, even if its those triangles from the first Driver (but make them look like parts and not triangles), but I also want the deformed bodywork to stay on the car a bit longer.

Unless the chassis deforms as well, it doesn't look as cool as a massively deformed car body. Let the cars run longer than real life when they get hit big time. Take the damage physically, but not numerically.

Good points about crash damage not putting the car out of commssion right away, as Reflections themselves have stated before.

I like the idea of ramping off cars on impact at the right angle.

There are always going to be different kind of gamers. Why not take a look at the variety of settings which the player should be allowed to choose from.

Difficulty
Easy | Medium | Hard
Most games have these difficulty options;
EASY allows the player to whiz though the game easily without having to repeat certain missions, almost making it as easy as sitting back and watching a movie.
medium allows the player to achually concentrate on the gaming side, this means they will end up having to restart the mission more if they aren't the best at driving.
hard A higher difficulty making it harder to play.

Realism
Un-realistic | Realistic | Ultra-Realistic
Something new never attempted in any game. Well maybe some but with a different context. The player gets to choose the realism they want in the game. Realism in this department may work as difficulty as well. Lets say it was untra-realistic (one or two crashes and the car is totaled:looking totaled as well)This would make it hard.

So it really depends on how reflections would like to put this ideas togetaher.

Another few examples would be

Traffic - off | Low | Medium |High
Peds - off | Low | Medium | High
Cops - off | Normal | Super Cops (every car is a cop) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Awesome

With settings like these expecially on a console there will have to be limitations if they want the game to use the full resources of the console.

Like If traffic is on high we cannot have High pedestrians because it'll use up too much cpu time or video memory or something similar.

This is something we usually see in pc games, never seen it in a console game so it'll be interesting to see it in the upcoming driver.
