Hi,

Are you talking about Silent Hunter 5 ? Yes, these cards should be fine for gaming, as they both are DX11-compliant Shader Model 5 Graphic processors, and they exceed the game's minimum requirements. You can even easily play SH3 and SH4 on these cards.

You can even go for some Lower range ATI HD 4000 models, or the NVIDIA's GTX series, but it all depends on your budget. If you can afford to pay right now, they go for the '5670 IceQ' Card, as it's more cooler than the 5770.

BTW, what all games do you usually Play, apart from Silent Hunter ? And which Graphics card/System do you currently have ?? Are you looking to upgrade your System ??

Thanks for the response KingDaniel0
I was actually thinking about getting the ATI Radeon 5670 IceQ 1GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Graphics Card anyway.
I have just recently rebuilt my PC with an M4A785TD-V EVO Motherboard with 4GB of Memory
AMD Phenom II*4 Proceessor, at the moment using the onboard Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 4200 GPU
Windows 7 (Ultimate)installed.
The games I have installed and working are Doom3, Doom3 ROE, Medal of Honor(Various), CSI Miami.
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific with Uboat Missions.
Silent Hunter 5 but a bit slow maybe due to the Graphic Card or having DirectX 11 installed.
Have trouble getting Silent Hunter 3 to work

Hello again 'Stev1956',

Your PC specs are fine, and Yes, SH5 might lag/stutter if you play it on the MOBO's onboard GPU. Better upgrade it now, and also update the DirectX Libraries if needed.

Anyways, it's good to know, that you also like playing First Person Shooters (DOOM, MOH etc.). *I have played almost all FPS released for the PC*.

And I hope you also get 'Silent Hunter 3' to work on your System. Other Silent Hunter fans/gamers out here, might be able to help you with SH3.

But try installing/running the game as an ADMIN, and under 'Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode', and 'avoid' the usual C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 3 path. Install in under some other folder, and PATCH the game and update the Starforce drivers (if applicable). Because I think some versions of SH3 don't have the Starforce protection ?? Also give this a read:

Anyhow, Cheers and Good Luck,
Daniel.

Got one of those - good card but runs hot - only with this game though and only at times of high graphics usage - see the first post on this page. Put the computer in a refrigerator and it runs fine. I use the ATI CCC to monitor while playing which keeps me out of trouble.

Yeah kingdaniel - I am an old bloke and my first PC game was BF1942 about 8 years ago then BF2 - like the FH2 Mod for that one - WWII MOd.
Too slow for FPS now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

@ Stev1956,

To run SH III, you will need to set up a dual boot OS using XP.
The installer used in III is a snooper. It looks for a specific OS. Namely XP or 98. If it doesn't see one of those it will not install. Bloody Starforce DRM was as much BS as this new OSP BS.
I have loads more letters to bandy about. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

@ KingdanielO, As much as I enjoy the music of Randy Rhoads, your signature is waaaay outside the allowed parameters for this forum. Everyone is expected to follow the rules. Including yourself. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
IE: The maximum allowed for sig pics is 500 in width by 150 in height for all images combined (i.e. all images that you use have to fit in a 500 x 150 box). The maximum file size should be no more than 60kb.
You can use up to 4 lines of text, including spaces (each line no more than 80 characters in length).

Thank you for your help but Armchair modding is not needed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

No problem at all. Please take your own time to solve your issue.

Best Regards,

So, I see that I hurt some feelings by quoting the rules. My apologies.

Hurt feelings? meh, I doubt if BW is upset, she was just asking you to use the correct method of reporting posts if you wish to draw something to the attention of the moderators or managers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

BW was right and I was in the wrong.
I moderate another forum and sometimes I forget to take that hat off.
I was thinking more along the line that maybe I insulted KDO. If so, my sincerest apologies, Daniel. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

Yeah Wolferz - have same problem - am an admin and moderator on a PHP forum and sometimes wish I could edit something just for the fun of it - (especially spelling) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

ON Our forum, we only edit spelling in topic headers so it doesn't screw up the search function. Many a noob has gone out an airlock because the board owner doesn't tolerate mis-spelled topics. It's fun watching them try to swim in the vacuum of Cyberspace. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Yeah I was only kidding actually - don't edit spelling unfortunately - just something I'd love to do - it's the teacher/lecturer in me - used to mark assignments/papers for a University and there I could correct grammar and spelling (and mark accordingly LOL)

EDIT: One of my Dad's favourite songs was "Wrap me up in breadcrumbs baby, I want to get fried!" or so he says - never heard it myself. Inclined to think he made it up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
