No cockpit view is a big mistake

I was really excited about this game until I found out there is not going to be a 1st peron view. UBISOFT will loose half of its potential buyers of this game due to the lack of cockpitview. What is the rationale for not putting in a cockpitview? I dont remember ever playing a flight game without it.

Historically there have been many console flying games that do not have an in cockpit view. However you're incorrect about Blazing Angels not having in cockpit because it definitely does.

UbiRazz the UK Community Manager says,and I quote

"There's currently no plans for a cockpit view as the game is meant to be quite arcadey, rather than a flight sim"

Yep it's mistake, and after Lockdown, I am going to wait for the reviews and a demo before I send anymore money UBI's way. It will have to be as good or better than the original Crimson Skies on the PC for me to consider, and even then I may not buy because I have heard it has STARFORCE on it.

I swear I've seen cockpit view in the videos but maybe it was the view from inside a turret on a ship.

Everyone! Im almost positive that there is a cockpit view! Here is how i found out...

1. GO TO OFFICIAL BLAZING ANGELS WEBSITE

2. CLICK GAME INFO ON THE MAIN MENU

3. ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE, THERE WILL BE A NEXT BUTTONN, CLICK IT 5 TIMES UNTIL YOU SEE AN XBOX CONTROLLER

4. THERE, IT SHOWS YOU THE CONTROLLS

5. LOOK VERY CLOSELY AND IT SAYS THAT BUTTON B IS THE COCKPIT VIEW/PLANE VIEW!

No, sadly. There will not be a cockpit view. Earlier in development the team had a cockpit view but removed it (for some inexplicable reason). It's all behind-the-camera play.

If that is truely the case i have to go back and talk to my friends i toke mounths in tring to get this that there sounded like there was a Cockpit veiw. It was the only way they where going to get it, but if it's false they aint going to want this game and to be honest im not even sure i well ether might be a rental first just to see if i can get past the 3 person view becuase i love fling games just to much to not try it at all just becuase of a childs view!

I just can't see why they don't just use both view's!

I for one (and i'm probably in the minority here, but that's ok), like no cockpit view. I think they should have made both available though. Ya know, appeal to as wide an audience as possible? Why they went without one is beyond me (although I guess that's still in debate... I dunno, i'm new lol...).

And like someone else wrote, I hope it's as good/better than Crimson Skies. I know that's not a "flight sim" like most would categorize, but it's the only "flying" game i've played that I absolutely loved. FUN FUN FUN! Sounds, explosions, graphics, even the time-period goofy voice, ALL of it was a blast (imho).

I just read about this this morning on Blues News for the first time. WOOHOO! I haven't played a good flight game in... well, since Crimson Skies. I hope it turns out to be as good as some of the videos imply. I'm gonna get it as soon as it's available, regardless of what others say (always been a see-for-myself kinda guy). I'll post my thoughts for those interested as soon as I play if for a bit.

Boy, if this is as good as Crimson Skies was.....

I bought the XBox360 game and can state that there is NO cockpit view... much to my dismay! Don't tell people things that aren't true!!!

ok, saw the screenshots from the BA.co.uk site-5 nexts over and saw the XOX controller with the declaration tat the B button is the cockpit view. Unless this option is for selecting further into the game, B does not switch views! UBI needs to POSt on the front of this forum that there IS NO COCKPIT VIEW FOR XBOX! And that they need a patch for it and will post soon. I LOVE this game and can fly either way, but all need to be satisfied with this game or it is a flop.

The decision to remove the cockpit view was made for a few reasons:

1) It was incompatible with the cool "enemy cam" feature which was the designer favorite. Cockpit users wouldn't be able to use this vital control and view feature without first pushing them into 3rd person and then swinging them around to see who is shooting at them.

2) In testing, both internal and 3rd-party, a vast majority liked the arcade and cinematic effect when playing in 3rd person view.

3) Setting up a historically accurate, functional, and instrumented cockpit for all 40+ playable aircraft would have diverted resources that were better used elsewhere on a tight development schedule. 4) Design decisions were made to really emphasize a "Hollywood" feel and fast-paced and accessible arcade action. 3rd person and the "enemy cam" fit nicely into this philosophy. This was never intended to be even close to a "serious" flight sim.

PolecatXXX: It would have been nice if you had made this statement before the release of the PC version. But, I guess that would have killed the release day sales. This thread has been going on for days and an official statement should have been stated.

I saw the videos and thought it had great graphics but wasn't sure if it was a flight sim or not. Hey now, I just got put on this job (temporary BA forum QA) yesterday. To be fair, it was quite a heated issue through the design as to whether to have it or not, but in the end I don't think anyone was sorry to see it go. In every press release Ubisoft gave with information from our studio we emphasized over and over the fact that it was "arcade action" and NOT meant to be even close to a serious sim. Some press members still got their signal wires crossed on that subject though, unfortunately.

Throughout the course of development, every game undergoes evolutionary changes. Preview shots are sometimes outdated as fast as they are posted. We still like to give players a sneak peek when we can. Believe me, I'd love nothing more than to let ya'll in on a peek at our new project (not yet folks...). But it turns into a double-edged sword sometimes and this is a good example.

i know it`s a action flight simulator, but we all are very happy, when you can fix it and the PC Version get the Cockpitview.

It is importent for all user, because we can play more tactical and also the flair and fun is higher!

Without a "cockpit view" this is just a kiddie version of what looked like could have been a pretty good game. Myself and five of my friends were looking for an alternative to infantry style FPS' and thought we found one with this game. I went searching for a copy this morning before I read this forum and now I'm glad I didn't find one.

You fellas at Ubisoft are missing the boat on this one.....at least 6 sales this morning....
