Greetings.

We understand that many people are currently sharing accounts on VS; although we have not taken active steps to prevent people from doing it, recent events force me to warn you about a few things:

1. EQ accounts are never hacked; they are compromised by the user either because he was careless or simply because he gave away his information to people he trusted.

2. If you lose a character, an item or money due to an account sharing issue (the 'OMG I was hacked!11!' syndrome); it is extremely hard for us to do anything. Characters can be restored and in some very special circumstances, items/money can be refunded; rest assured however that it will never happen twice.

3. You are responsible for the actions taken by your characters whether you are playing them or not.

Hopefully these words of wisdom will echo through Norrath and people around the world will cease these senseless sharings.

Thank you.

PS: You can always send a mail to gms_uk@ubisoft.fr for more information.

"Does that mean you are hacking them harebelly ?"

Does it ?

If that is the case in your world Elysarin, I would suggest to seek some other form of therapy than Everquest.

Anyways not very smart to give out statements like that " our thing can never be hacked", specially if youre hosting the "thing" and specially not in your public site.

There are examples http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

By hacking, we are implying someone entering the SOE servers maliciously. Certainly an account can be compromised by keylogger/trojan, but this falls on the responsibility of the player to actually make sure such thing does not happen.

Also, we assume this is a fair assumption since 99.999% (the 0.001 % being trojan issues) of the cases are shared accounts. We understand many guilds are doing it and we know the content of the game may force people to do so, but we will certainly not encourage it.

Hopefully this clears up all confusions.

Hey,
I know exactly what you mean Erdrix...
But 99,999 is just as harsh "assumption" as never...

Anyways message was never unclear, but hey !
