Whats the point of making a small actor big if the movie wont look any realistic at all. This would impact on ratings, no one will see the movie and the lil actor remains small. Cant Ubi put in a good word for Clive Owen from us.

RHOULETTE, PLEASE TALK TO UBI AND TELL THEM TO TELL PETER BERG TO GRAB CLIVE OWEN!!!!!!!!!

I am just gonna sit and wait, wait for the abomination that Burg cooks up and call Splinter Cell.
I cannot BELIEVE he even thought about Walberg! WTF, hell why not just cast Jessica Simpson as Grimsdorrir and Toby Maguire as Lambert. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I would have always said George Clooney, though the "new" Sam doesnt look like him anymore :S

That's the dunbest thing I've ever heard!!! Hey, let's use Gary Coleman as Sam Fisher! How freakin stupid!

If he wanted to pick someone obscure there are plenty of people. Heck, I was just watching BlackHawk Down (for about the 1000th time) and what about the lead Delta Force guy that's tough as nails and as cool as could be? The one that wears the red lense Oakleys in the beginning as he's with the bicycle in the Market Place and they pick him up in the desert on a helo. He was bada$$ and looks the part for Sam Fisher. There's a guy that you can't associate with Boogie Nights, who looks the part and has at least played a role that he had to be tough, yet cool, in.

Wow, what a bad choice...

But meh, I could care less for the splinter cell movie.

I love the gameplay, graphics, environments and stuff, but it's not like I love the splinter cell story, like I for example love the metal gear story.

What i've been reading is that the SC movie will have a "Dynamic and original character". I think that means we may not be seeing Sam as the main character of the film...If Sam will be the main character though, i hope they'll get Clive Owen, he'd be perfect for the role IMO.

Terrax213
03-10-2005, 08:59 AM
Oh .. my .. god ... I think only George Clooney would be a worse choice than Wahlburg.

SPROGGY
03-10-2005, 10:53 AM
Sly stallone is too old for the part, and wahlberg isnt menacing enough. Clooney is too happy go lucky, and Clive Owen would pull it off beatifully. The only problem is since Sam isnt going to be the main character, you dont want someone who looks too much like him. Ghost Leader mentioned Eric Bana(black hawk down, troy, hulk) and he may be able to pull it off if he hits the gym. No matter who they choose though, tho movie still has as much potential to be great as it does to be bad.

After seeing how he brutally mutilated Batman when he played as Bruce Wayne, he really needs to stay away from action and stick to the ER. Plus, he honestly and truly does not resemble Fisher. People claim it's a spitting image .. but I do not see it, and I know I'm not the only one.

Actually, if they're going to chose "Mark Wahlberg" *vomits* I think the goggles are going to be they're least concern (seeing as it's the Splinter Cell Trademark).

Well I agree with you on the Batman bit... but that movie would still have sucked with or without him...
Actually, for Fisher I think he is a pretty good choise. Something in the way he talks and acts that make him remind me of Fisher a bit. And appearence-wise(is that a word?), I think they look pretty simular. Certanly not identical, but simular.

Hollywood plays by it's own rules. They take the storyline of a game and then skew it to an unrecognizable level where they end up trying to pull the part of the public that knows nothing about the game.

Doom is having a movie made of it with no hell and not starring a no-name Marine.

Final Fantasy had NOTHING to do with any previous installments or current storylines

Hollywood has the ability to do some great things; why they don't go by the sustained storylines, I'll never understand.

i have one question........

"Who the hel* is Mark Walberg?"

and I think George Clooney would be a good Sam Fisher. Give him a gun and he'll do fine....... of course not a loaded gun, a prop.

I agree Braiog. Even in books that I've read. Some Hollywood money-glutton comes up with the brilliant idea to make a movie of it, then you watch the movie and it has NOTHING to do with the book. Same with game-movies. Where'd they get this stuff from?!

Oh, and Jackal? Google searches help tons...

they're all rumours, people...rumours. he didnt say "it's official, quote me on this...MARK WALBERG IS CASTED FOR SAM FISHER! you got that written down?" he's merely hinting at it. he's not saying it yet. they probably havent even started auditions.

nothing is set in stone people, don't lose faith yet. Burg is a pretty good director for the most part, very bad things and the rundown were decent enough, i don't doubt his directing, its the script and the actors that really make a movie. i definatly don't want marky mark to be sam fisher. look on the bright side, at least Uwe Boll isn't directing.

Gangxta123
03-11-2005, 01:15 AM
Hmm a good sam fisher would probably b Pierce Brosman......Sorry if someone already posted this name in this thread but iall the posts were long and i didnt feel like reading lol

HorTyS
03-11-2005, 02:31 AM
pierce brosnan? i disagree, i think viggo mortenson, a.k.a. aragorn from the LOTR trilogy would be great(imagine him with Sam's facial hair and haircut) but Thomas Jane would be my second vote. if mark whalberg gets it, i'm still watch the movie, of course, it'll be my obligation as a splinter cell fan.

Okay my .25 cents here, Irionside, Yeah baby, but Im guiessing he might be to old to do the moves ect, ect.
But Im thinking, if they really do the movie, I hope they do make it indepent of the three games, and as for who might be a good Sam Fisher.

Yes I know he really does not look anything like Sam Fisher we all know and love in the game, But I still think he would make a great Same Fisher.

Vin Diesel,,, okay maybe a little off the wall here.

But,,,He has played that type of cold calis charactor, in Pitch Black (a great movie) and Chronicals Of Rid**** (could have been better)
"Not trying to go off topic here" Just trying to give a little refresher. Of how cold and calis he can be yet still caring, in the moves that is.

Okay Im done spliting brain cells http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

After seeing him interview on the Daily Show, I think Bruce Willis would fit the part perfectly. He has the right kind of dry sense of humor, a gruff look, and is a proven action star who is middle-aged.

Yeah, he doesn't look like Sam in the video games, but I could let that go for some real talent.

i've heard some crappy ideas in my time, but this "Vin Diesel" talk takes the cake. vin diesel not only looks nothing like fisher, but he is one of the $#!tiest actors around. not only would he have to grow the hair and beard, he'd have to drop muscle mass, which he probably wouldn't be willing to do. anyways, i just had to say that. i'd way rather have mark wahlberg than vin diesel.

my votes are:

1)Viggo Mortenson
2)Thomas Jane
3)Clive Owen - although they'd have to get him a dialect coach.
4)Bruce Willis

thank you and good night.

Vin Diesel looks nothing like sam, even with a wig. If you're desperate to see him in the movie, cast him as Grinko, its about time he got wasted in a film.

Personally i'd Say Bruce Willis; he's a brilliant actor, just give him a wig and you're set. Or Clive Owen. He can act really well too, and he even looks like Fisher...unlike clooney.

Vin Diesel = terrible actor. Period. In every movie he touches.

Not only that, he doesn't have the talent/personality to play Sam Fisher. Like I said, I could forego looks for some REAL talent, not some guy who's still riding on the success of Fast and the Furious (which is also a bad movie).

Just for the record: Saving Private Ryan doesn't count because he's only a minor role in the movie, so he doesn't get the opportunity to make it suck.

There's also another movie with Vin Diesel in it for like 10 min of the whole movie before he was famous and HE HAS HAIR!!! Forgot the name of it though.

I'll amend my statement to say any movie he stars in is destined to failure because of his utter lack of talent.

The bullet wound death scene in Saving Private Ryan was the best acting I've ever seen Diesel do. It was quite good. He was a good anti-hero in Pitch Black, but that didn't require acting, it required being a badass. Which he pulled off well, but Twohy is ringing this sponge out too much if he thinks he can turn an old, low-budget ($10M) horror movie (Pitch Black) into a mega-money ($60-80M) action movie (Chronicles of Rid****), and then make a sequel or two out of that. I enjoyed playing the prequel Rid**** game then I did watching the sequel Rid**** movie. A couple hundred too many cliches in that movie for my likeing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Or how about the famous Viggo Mortensen:

That's a fine list of actors, but you can't expect A-list stars to accept minor roles like this, unless Shetland would play more of a major role in the movie.

For Lambert, my pick goes to James Earl Jones.
