Just was wondering if you are able to take captives during a battle. Maybe try to convince them to give some other info about the battle and where all his men are or something to deal with prisoners. Just think that would give the game a little more hint of realism.

This would be an excellent idea. The only RTS that ever had you able to capture enemies as prisoners was ACT OF WAR. Prisoners would allow you to reveal areas of the map obscured by for of war.

I dont think russians take prisoners... Also, you need to take care of them such as food and water which is already ceing rationed due to shortages. I dont think there will be prisoners.Besides i wont take prisoners line em up against the wall shoot em then move to the next unlucky ones or atleast thats how im going to customize my army.

I think it'd be cool if you could take the prisoners' gear and arm some of your men with it.

As you mentioned you could snag weapons from enemies and like John Chi mentioned Act of War used this to great effect simulating the acquiring of intelligence extracted via "friendly" interrogations.

Especially great idea when you consider some of the weapons that are in Endwar like the Active Denial System, which incapacitates your target, but doesn't kill them. Also I mentioned the Self Healing Minefield which if you guys look for the thread and read about, you'll find that IF Ubisoft uses the weapon modes like what I found the military is planning on, THEN you will have an excellent way of immobilizing, but not killing your enemy if you're so inclined.

I would love to see this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The only problem is that 90% of the people would say "**** that" and execute them.

Yeah maybe if not taking prisoners you could take their armor or strip the battlefield if you won the battle and salvage some of the stuff laying around. Man, there are so many ideas running through my mind that could be thrown into this game. But it was also said that prisoners need food and water and all the stuff your army needs. True. But I think that getting intelligence from the army prisoners would add another demention to the game. Imagine talking to some interrogators during the middle of the battle trying to get some information that could make or break your battle. Like capturing an enemy spy. The game does mention things about spys. Trying to get them to talk and say something that could help you win some battles. Just imagine talking to the interrogators and telling them to tell you where the enemy general is located or something about the enemy's position or how much ammo they have left. The possibilities are endless with this game. It's WW3 and it's in the digital world so anything is possible.

i don't think u would say strip enemy equipment, because 1 a military would require training in the use, wuld only have aspecific number of this equipment, there for making it only able to be equipped to minimum number of people etc.

though i wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of intel system where u could find out the types of equipment certain people have their armies equipped with since it is de plater making the game and u had spies in rom total war which worked well to that effect as to help planing an attack but it would be tricky.

In Company of Heroes it's possible for a soldier to pick up a weapon of dead enemy. I think such an ablity should be limited to Special Forces or veteran units.

Due special training, right? Well it makes since if we're talking about hightech stuff, but if it is normal weapons just about everyone could use them, those weapons are pretty much the same.

And will the capture of prisoners be part of a game objective??? Kind-of you capture a Commander and all the enemies chain of command is disrupted? Hum a possibility worth trying to explore........

prisoners could be handy. captured units could be recaptured by SF units, maybe give some type information that can help you.

Yeah thats what I was talking about more like the normal low tech weapons like nades or side arms or rifles and stuff. But the idea of getting SF to go in with the objective of getting the prisoners out. Thats an awesome idea.
