Can't Enter the Vatican

Hi.

I climb to the top of the Vatican, no problem. But there are no guards outside of the gate and the lever to open the gate is not highlighted -- so I can't open it. I've tried climbing around and over but can't get there.

What should I do?

Seeing as how there's no patch or solution to get around this problem that quite a few people, including me, have been having, you're either gonna need to restart the game or wait for a patch. Who knows when (or if) Ubi will patch this because no mods seem to reply to the posts about this glitch.
