i think it would be more fun if you had to order mortar shells through a map grid through your knowledge of where the enemy is instead of just FIRE THERE command... that way you could hit targets farther away behind cover or whatever, or just shelling cover to manuever or defend a position.... any thouhgts?

oh ya! i forgot this isnt a tactical strategic game its a very pretty run and gun (a call of duty if you will) for all the people who are too afraid to 'think' you must not have the thinking capasity to grasp what i was explaining but thats ok real military leaders didnt 'think' as you say either, theres never too much thinking especially in this game

I like the idea of the map grid, that would make it more realistic

I love these games because they are the only WW2 games that you actually have to think about to win. http://www.cybergifs.com/faces/bigthink.gif

Well it would make sense for them to use a technic similiar to COD 4 multiplayers Air Strike the map comes up and you pick where you want it to be . I like the idea of only knowing a little of where the enemy is.

except in this game only a few shots will kill you, no health boosts, and you really need to use your squad to win. sounds like you need to do some thinking here.

mortars in this ''might be'' be a solution, its already fine by me when i saw that mg-42 was carried around by baker in the long video clip
(Where did that came from)
Mortars may be used in a few sittuation's like when you have taken out off a german mortar squad and their is a counter-attack in comming and their is just a small amount off ammo left.
They did that before with a german 88mm flak gun in the midle off the Bastogne assault, when the american's where out off arty support, they when't back to a german p.o.w camp and ordert a full squad off german flak crew to opperate that 88mm gun (with the help off a few threads off course) and the arty support took off for 2 day's,at the end off the german ''help'' the fired an amezing records off 421 88mm shell's been fired (thanx for the help fellas http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
When they are ussing the ''mortars'' i'd realy like to hear a ''bloop'' sound because thats the nick-name off the american 4-inch mortar gun.
The other BLOOP gun is the m-72 (or m-79 law i'm not sure) any way,one off those guns is used by my father in the time he served in Vietnam he's served his country between '69/75 and he is still using that gun everytime he has a duck problem...so i hope i could out here..... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

as long as its not the situational awareness view with the germans in sight. with just a basic map. then yeah. that would be cool.

wat are u talking about have you ever played a bia... or you only ever play on the easiest difficulty... you have to use your squad suppress and a bunch of other things.. and just to answer your question about the mortors...they would be a really wierd idea.OBVIOUSLY the mortars arnt going to hit right where you order them they will probably just go around the guys and have not perfact aim probably random hits that would be cool jsut anywhere in a certain vicinity.

Mortar would be nice, but just don't make the control crappy like in COD3

I'm wondering how the mortar team members name's are and how they walk with all the matterial what they have to carry with them.

Yeah, I remember the COD 3 mortar controls being a little sketchy. There was the use of a mortar tube in BIA: D-Day on the PSP, and the controls weren't much better either. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I hope it isn't anything like COD3. I would think it would be better sense it is a much larger component of the game compared to COD3.

That sounds like a good idea to me, but realism is fun up to a point, I think. If you want to be as realistic as possible, you could call the orders in, wait about fifteen minutes for the army to okay the shelling and actually do it. That would definetly make it a bit more tactical, but stop talking about realism please, we all get that this game series goes for realism.

Actually, you wouldn't have to wait to use them sense mortars are controled at the company level or lower. Unless your ROE restricted their use. I don't see why we wouldn't mention realism, sense that is a major part of BIA and is very important to alot of people.
