This one explains a lot of torpedo problems if I'm not the only one to experience it. I have no fix, but I do have a work around.
Here is what happens when using auto targeting. Those that use manual targeting need to do their own checks.
I set the torpedo depth on a target to 10 feet. I was at the Attack scope and hit L to lock the target. The sea was rough and I had to click L several times. I noticed that when I typed it more than once, the depth reset to 16 feet. I changed it back to 10 feet and this time clicked the red light over the "Fire" button twice. I had the same result, the torpedo depth reset itself to 16 feet. I tried it on a medium merchant and it reset from 10 to 21 feet. Whoa! That explains a lot of recent under shots.
I was running the stock 1.5 game. No MODs. I may go back and check 1.4 to see if it happened there and I just didn't notice it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
Please confirm this.
The work around. Just before you fire check to see that your torpedo depth setting hasn't changed. If you fire with the correct depth the torpedo keeps that setting until you lock again.
