Unless I am mistaken, in all the discussions of Myst games, it is assumed that Atrus is dead in the timeline URU takes place in, that is in the present time. Unless I am way off, wouldn't Atrus be on the long side of 200 years old in present time? Full blooded D'ni live 300 years. It should be more than possible for a spritely Atrus to be calling the great grandson of his old friend "My Dear Young Friend" ?

Perhaps, "Something Else" could directly involve Atrus (or even Ghen) set in present day... I thought that grey haired old man I saw wearing those funny goggles while shopping at Wal Mart whith a Halo 2 disk in his basket looked familiar...

I think Rand Miller said that after Exile, he wouldn't act as Atrus again. I think he said the same thing about Revelation. Therefore, there'll probably be about three more games with Atrus in them. But I'm not sure about him still being alive around the time of Uru. A letter in PotS confirms this, but I won't say where, since this isn't the spoilers forum.
