random maps

I just bought "The Settlers" and am extremely dissappointed that there does not seem to be a random map option. What is the point of playing the same map, with resources in the same $^*& places?! Am I missing something or is this just a game put out by people who couldn't bother to include this rather basic option? (Please don't tell me it's too expensive or difficult, random maps utilities are a dime a dozen)

Rise of an Empire was shipped with a Map Editor so people could create their own.
I understand what youre saying about a random map generator but personally, with the amount of custom maps available I really havent missed it.

I agree with cosmic1956 on this one am afraid. Don't get me wron, I think this is the best version of settlers since the second installation, but the only thing missing is a random map generator.

The user generated maps are good but sometimes I don't want to have to go online and research who is a good map maker and so on, as it takes too long. A simple free play random map generator would have been a great addition to the game and extended the lifespan. (plus I wouldb't have fealt it necessary to go out and by the add on pack that you can't actually play cos of the stupid activation issue)

Just to be clear, I like the game, too, but I've never seen a game scenario in any game that appealed to me. They always seem to be either way too easy or way too difficult. If a new version of Settlers comes out with a random map option, I'll buy it but this one is already getting boring. Life is just SO hard! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
