How Do I get through the skull Island gate? I tried to grab the lever several times and it has not worked. I lowered my graphic settings and I am still having trouble using the lever.

is there 2 poles? maybe its hayes who needs to use that pole/lever and you need to find the lever on the ground and stick it in the other pole then grab the lever and pull or push depending on what side of it you are

Hayes will do the other. After fighting more crabs the gate will open.
