MAP DOWNLOAD URGENT HELP!!!???

I can't play any maps i have downloaded. They are unzipped and in 'user' folder and they don't work. I only have the settlers IV (not gold, mission cd or trojan add on). I wan't desperately to play new maps. Do i need any patches, i already have 1516 because i have XP and i needed it for the game to work. Please help me.

Maybe you have downloaded nothing but maps with Trojans, by bad luck. They will not show in the user folder unless you own the Trojans addon or the gold edition.

Hey, now i have downloaded around twenty maps that 'don't need add-on' and none of them are registering in the game. It still doesn't work. They don't have trojans in them, well most don't anyway. I need someones help, im getting sick of the maps on the CD.

Nope nothing special about the user folder,you have to make it yourself,so you did right there.

To use a user map that you downloaded you load the game,when your in the screen where you select a map you need to click the bottom icon of the settler on the right(above the resources box) its called Custom Maps.This should then show you the list of maps you have downloaded.

Firstly why did you remove the map folder?.

It should read all the maps that you have downloaded,I really dont know what your doing wrong.Inside your map folder you have 4 other folders? Singleplayer,Multiplayer,Tutorial,and User?,the maps your downloading are unzipped into your user folder that you made?.Its not unusual to have the odd map not show up,but for none to show,is most odd.Do the maps show up in your User folder?.

I removed the map folder to see if the game was reading it from the computer or the CD. The origional maps were still there in the game, so it read it from the CD and that would be a problem because it wouldn't check the map file. And, yes there are 4 files in my map file: Singleplayer, multiplayer, tutorial and user. How do I 'pm' you, (what does it mean?), Is it so i can contact you privately? I'm pretty sure atleast one of the twenty maps i have downloaded should work, and yes i can see them in the user folder.

OH ****!!! I found out why, i was using the bluebyte folder outside of program files to put the maps in. Well now Iput them in the map file in program files and hey, now it works. So if anyone else has this problem then it might be because of this. Nucleus and Pennyuk thanks for trying to help me, i guess i'll try some of these maps now.

I have this problem as well. I put the maps in this directory:
e:\program files\blue byte\the settlers IV\map\User

And they don't work. None of them show up on the custom maps thingy in the game. Can you help please.

As far as I know S4 has to be in the C: directory. If I am wrong, I feel sure that someone will correct me.

S4 likes to be on Drive C it is possible to get it to run on others but I suggest this could be where your problem lies.

YAY!! well now it seems to work, but only some of them have appeared on the custom maps screen.


How can I get the rest on?

Could it be you have downloaded maps that need the Trojans and you dont have the CD installed?

Probably, I don't have the Trojans.

Actually, looking at the maps, there are some in the multiplayer map area that don't appear in the game. These only came with the game so I have no idea as to why these ones don't work.

The maps are: Big Brother, Borderline, Dollar, Island Jumping, Keep Smiling, Rush Me, Rush Puppy, Terror, Tomb.
