YAY!? No multiplayer?

I cannot play the multiplayer version of the game, if I try to open it either through the 'Play Dark Messiah Multiplayer' shortcut, or through the game client, I get an error message pop up that simply says 'yay' I have a screenshot but I don't seem to have any way to upload it.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

EDIT: I get the exact same problem if I try to open Steam, it refuses to open with a 'yay' error message.
