View Full Version : What would you like to see in the next Splinter Cell game?

Besides program stability and menu interface, what sort of content would you want to see in the next Splinter Cell?

My wish list:

All the old characters back. Grim, coen, redding, and Lambert (or equivalents, if someone didnt survive DA) I wanna get back to the old mission styles.

However they do it plot wise i don't care, but I wanna infiltrate the white house. That would be sooo cool. Interrogate the president for national security!

One thing from DA that I liked that could carry on to the next game is having npc's talk in their native languages. That was cool and realistic. Although it was funny hearing koreans and russians talk in english all the time in Chaos Theory, it was goofy.

A plot I actually thought would be the 'natural progression' of the series was where you have to infiltrate 3rd echelon to find a mole or bad guy double agent at the request of just one person, like Lambert. So, only Sam and Lambert know about the mole or something. Spying on the spy organization type deal.

It also seems an inevitability in any series that you have to fight someone with exactly the same skills as you do. (i.e. Parallel universes with evil counterparts) So maybe Sam would have to track, spy on, and take down a terrorist equivalent of himself. Like an evil spy that had the same moves as Sam, not just another wandering guard NPC.

Just some thoughts!

Longer gameplay: take the gameplay for DA and multiply it by 2.5. That should be the minimum.

Customizable weapons: Cool concept, I like it.

Customizable inventory: I'd like to be able to choose what I bring on a mission.

Hide bodies better: More choices other than drop it on the floor (stuff it in a vent, lay it on a bed to make it look like its sleeping, ...)

Vehicles you can operate: How many spy movies have you seen where there was a boat, car, or plane chase?

Interactive cinematics: I like these in DA. Longer ones with more interaction would be nice.

Nonlinear story: If you have conflicting choices, let the story reflect your choice. Close one door, another opens.

This is all I can think of at the top of my head.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

LOL YEAH. Like in SC1, when you're in the CIA headquarters... you know the janitor found like 20 bodies in the hallways the next morning. Not a real "ghost-like" performance there Sam...

I do, however, agree that gameplay > graphics. Although the game "looks" phenominal, the length of the game is seriously lacking.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That depends on what game YOU played. Cause I played one called Double Agent, and apart from the first level, there wasn't a single splinter cell in it...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

What would you like to see in the next Splinter Cell game?

a) I'd like to see Splinter Cell
b) I'd like to see a game

I think that covers it.

Here's my list:

1. A bug-free, PC-focused, polished game that looks great and runs smoothly.
2. More than two weapons. If Sam is dumb enough to infiltrate a terrorist compound with 1 clip of ammo, let him pick up a damn AK-47 off a downed terrorist. I'm tired of lame excuses ("why would a seasoned operative pick up a weapon he cannot trust?" [classic] - BECAUSE HE's OUT OF AMMO! DUH! And who can't trust an AK-47? It's more reliable than the SC-2000 *gasp*!)
3. Upgradeable weapons - [see Hitman: Blood Money]
4. Realistic AI - FOUR splinter cell games full of telepathically-linked terrorists. As soon as one SEES you, they all are suddenly aware of your exact location [see Metal Gear Solid 3 - you can shoot enemy radios and they're SOL] Oh, and get rid of the insta-reflexes [see Blackhawk Down]
5. I like what the post said above about a white-house mission [see 24 and Hitman: Blood Money]. Who gives a carp about JBA?
6. Real coop again.
7. Better aiming mechanics [see any decent FPS]. For being a super-spy NSA bad-arse, Sam sure can't aim worth carp. It takes forever to line up a shot with a scope (i.e. not fun), and to add insult to injury, the terrorists react, aim, and bullseye you in a micro-second. It's almost like they don't have to hold down a "steady-aim" button like Sam does. Oh, and they know how to land every shot despite recoil, unlike Sam. !
8. Less linear. Seriously, stop forcing your gamers down one path, and stop forcing us to friggin guess how the dev team wants us to get past each area. How many cruise ships and boats lock every door but one? [see practically any game since GTA came out]
9. Last and least, how cool would it be to be able to throw grenades around cover and blind fire? [see Gears of War]

Ok, all complaints aside, I'm enjoying SCDA. But how much better could this game be? If it were free-form with more weapons, how much more replayability would there be? Lots I tell ye.

SM2.0 support, because even by the time the next game gets released developers will still be supporting SM2.0.

Go figure...

Have you even played Chaos Theory? You could choose if the NPC's spoke in English or in their native languages, although if you interrogate them they speak english.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah i've played em all, i guess thats news to me too that they spoke their native language.

So that option is just turned on in DA to start with? You're saying its nothing new that the NPC's in okhotsk speak a different language?
