My only concern, is Sams' character. Yes, CHARACTER. I play SC for the game, but Sam, his character, is what hooked me, and kept me coming back.

Ubisoft says he's still a good guy, even though he has to make choices I wish he didn't have to. But seriously, that will make his character far more believable, and probably even more addicting.

So yes, I look forward with a bit of apprehension.... all change includes a healthy dose of the unknown.. but I'm more than willing to give it the chance, and be excited about the upcoming game regardless! MORE SAM!!! WOOOO HOOO!!!

I already like how the game is turning out, i have no problem what-so-ever. im a diehard fan i can live with ubi adding more to the game and not taking really major away. as they have said, and i have seen.

if the game was going to be just like the others, with the story and the other stuff just with new moves, weapons, and gadgets i would have lost a little interest because it'll just be like an expansion and not a sequel. this one here is a sequel and makes the genre take a step into something fresh and new, without changing what was already good.

if you look at it, the story is kind of like all the other games. taking terrorists and psychos down and sam still have his weapons and gadgets and plus his moves. they basically changed how you are going to proceed through the story, thats basically it. well so far.

*Everyone*

Go rent the movie "Infernal Affairs" or find it on a torrent site or something. This movie was one of the inspirations for the new take on the Splinter Cell game. I just watched it not too long ago, and if Sam has to make some of the choices like these characters in the movie, this is going to be one hell of a cool story.

Warning though. I'm not sure, but watching the movie could also spoil some of the major events that happen in the game, like who might die in the game. Of course I don't know any of this for sure, but I am just warning people to prevent more any dumb threads on this forum.

Another thing. If you do end up finding this movie. Watch it with the subtitles and not the dubbed version. It is hard to take the movie seriously because the dubbing is really bad.

people say the game will suck because they dont find anything that can get them puticularly excited. Moral choice and directed scene could be interesting but we really havent seen too much of it so based on what we have, the gameplay doesn't look very promising, the new enhancement allegedly made on the AI wasn't show too much on e3. The interaction with the envirement remains yet to be seen.

So basicly the direction in which we complete a mission might see a big change but the process is still same with previous ct.

This is exacly what happend with ct, new animation, bigger level, superb graphics, something is still missing. That said I'm absolutey confident this is gonna be the best sc so far but ubi got more to do if they want to get a 9 plus from gamespot.

I'll add my 2 cents :

- Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but imo it would a bit useless to consiously sour a forum, without rationaly argumenting, to the people who still anticipate this game.

- Add me to that list of people who still anticipate this game ; Personally, i like SC1 & PT better than CT and i have a feeling DA will best CT.

For total stealth gameplay innovation I think people had better look at Assassin's Creed since that game engine allows interaction with the environments and characters possible in ways like never before. (having read magazine previews the moves & animations will vary according to player style)

The reworked CT engine for XB360 & PC can only do 'so' much. Be realistic about expectations. We're not gonna see per object based physics like in Cell Factor.

But I'm already glad to see a 9000 polycount jump over CT's character models. The trailers are evidence of new moves/animations and yes those will be tweaked and refined for the final version.
I'm already glad that Ubi finally nailed a good balance in visual looks. Kinshasha level looks dry and dusty like it should ; with the original CT engine everything looked a bit 'plasticy' due to normal mapping + specular highlights.
The refractive shaders look great in the Arctic level ; very gpu intensive.
So, technically, DA seems like a game very worthy taking in mind it releases this September.

Gameplay ; i think it will be a nice mix of new and old style. 'New' as in ; the JBA HQ parts where you have to get things done without raising suspicion like in Hitman BM.

Then there's the levels without the trademark SC gear/gadgets ; finally this forces the player to find new ways to stealth. No more obvious advantage over the enemies by sheer technical means as in CT.

Also, i think the cool thing about JBA gadgets will be that they're alike NSA gadgets, but not as super-perfect ; so we'll have nvg goggles which will have that pov distance blur like in SC1 Xbox. In Some screenshots and trailers i already saw that Sam's using his SC1 style combat kevlar vest again instead of that vest like in CT.
So, i think all this will make the game interesting since the player can't rely on nvg and gadgets the way they're used to.

Yes, at first reveal, SC DA seemed like a Manhunt rip off. By now ; we know that's not the case and it'll be so much more than that.
SC DA might be the game to have me think ; "This is what i bought my expensive Ati card for !" (heheh lol)

The only people "*****ing" around here are those who complain about "us" that "complain" (what we do not, we do only point out what we don't like until now, as real SC fans, who played the first game since the demo and not only came with the, ehem, "mainstreamish" ScCt, which most people, who think SCDA will rock away anything regardless of what they've seen, do.)about what will most likeley go wrong with this new approach because of past experience with ubi games and the wait for them.

Said this, I will say more: I will buy the game, I will most likely enjoy it as I did with ScCt. The question is, can it really top Sc 1 or 2 or will it got to an even lower level than Sc 3? (Some people think latter is the best installment of the series, whilst I think it's the worst; Here you see diffrent opinions already, if you don't like that, go join some Nazi-group or something and push you'r oppinion on others until they must accept...)

What I say is also that Sc Da has potential, storywhise aswell as gameplay whise. But it takes alot of work and effort to get that done right (and maintaing the SplinterCell atmosphere) and judging from past experience I doubt that, since they already failed to keep the SC-Atmosphere with ScCt...

We are not allowed to critisize a game. I don't know if you guys know, but criticism BEFORE a game is released is good. Just saying "Mkay, we will see how it turns out" is wrong, since after release it's to late to do something about it.

Negative opinions AND positive opinions are a good thing. This way a discussion will arrise, with eventually a "winner", which means the devs can decide whether to or not to implement a certain issue.

I don't see why you are trying to silence us "negative" thinkers. We try to accomplish the same thing as you guys: a good game.

Also, like I said before: I will buy the game no matter what, but I have all the right to give my opinion on certain gameplay issues.

Also, I supply my arguments with enough reasons why. I try to be as complete as I can be. I don't try to silence the opposition, because they disagree, but because they are wrong, in my POV. This is what a debate is build on.

This is a funny subject. Chimera pretty much nailed it right on with how some of us feel and why certain things are the way they are. Viva, you gotta understand one thing. I mean, really absorb this. Everyone has their own unique opinion. Maybe a lot of us feel differently about the direction of this game than you do. Here is a super-spectacular example;

This is a funny subject. Chimera pretty much nailed it right on with how some of us feel and why certain things are the way they are. Viva, you gotta understand one thing. I mean, really absorb this. Everyone has their own unique opinion. Maybe a lot of us feel differently about the direction of this game than you do. Here is a super-spectacular example;

hi all. kinda new to this just checking it out cause i have the other splintercells for the GC and the ps2.(Still dont understand why people think the gc version sucks. i played and beat the ps2 and gc versions. they exactly the same, even graphic wise.) I am looking forward to the release of SPDA but getting mixed information.such as:
1.Not coming out for GC?
2.a run-n-gun (not convinced on that at all)
any answers to this would be nice. I seen trailers and all that good stuff on the game and it seems to be more open stealth. like not all in the dark more finding good hiding spots and sneaking up on people. and i read through the whole forum and it ends up like this on every one. people not even discussing the game but arguing on whos opinion is better. pls stop

i heard that. dont have an x-box or 360. played them but dont own. i hate when people put down otherbrands because they dont own them. so if you rip on x-box you ripping on microsoft which is or computer. whats the irony in that. i bought a playstation to begin with and had the original nintendo all the way to gc. those are the systems i stick with. lol kinda dumb question. a pc ( if you have one) lol i using it to talk on the forum..... anyways. nah i really dont want to give up my gc because i play all the mario games and such and dont want to give up my ps2 because i have at least 500$ in games for it. (I think i have like 43 games or something)and i realy think i would enjoy the ps3 more than the 360 just because im a sony fan. but what it comes down to the 360 and the ps3 is just ramped up versions of the current generation consoles. just alows game makers more flexibility. ill just play it on the current generation and if it does come out for the ps3 im positive ill buy it again for that. by then i would have played it at my friends house on the 360. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

no no you got that wrong. i just saying its a game probably better played with a controler but if you get used to the controls of the mouse and keyboard then it wouldnt be so bad. just take a while to learn it all over again. It alos is better than any console out and im sorry to say but no console will ever touch a pc gaming expireince with graphics and such. pretty much pc's run peoples lifes so the techknolody is huge.

to me its not really the graphics. they have some play but the core is all the same. example people loved donkey kong and pacman and look how **** those graphics where. the n64 had worse graphics than the ps1 but for some reason still sold more. my opinion its not the look its the game core. so i really dont care sure the ps3 will be fun to play gta 4 or 6 or what ever the # is because of the realism and the world because of the capibility of new generation consoles. but any way going off topic. my point is is that people are to concerned with how it looks to apprieciate the effort and time put into the game to make it what it is.
