So I'm sitting here as I watch Children of Men. It got me wondering if anyone else got choked up and teary eyed during the scene when Clive Owens and the girl walk out of the building with the baby and everyone stops fighting. I mean, it's not like anyone dies in that scene that the audience bonds with, yet I just can't help but have my eyes water.

Perhaps it was just a touching scene of there still being humanity in such a dismal dystopia...or perhaps I'm just a big sissy.

Anyways, are there any movies that gets any of you like this? (and if you say no, go watch Simon Birch).

That's a great scene Pino. I know it's totally girly but Bridges of Madison County..the scene where Streep is about to open the door of the car to run away with Clint Eastwood while both cars are at a stop light, her car behind his.

She hesitates and time runs out. Eastwood hangs her necklace on the rear view mirror so she can see and he drives away.

There are a million things going on beyond the scene that make me cry..but mostly remembering watching the movie the day my mom and sister came in my room in tears to tell me my grandma had died...I was already crying from the movie. Needless to say it was a depressing scene all around.

Big fish the end scene with the dad living out his wishes was another one.

There's really a bunch..I'm a huge movie person and really get into them so it doesn't take much more than great acting and a powerful scene.

"The Power of One". Real sad but good movie. Especially when the kid's chicken gets killed by those stupid Nazi punks. I kinda feel my eyes get sort of watery during a lot of parts in that movie.

When I first watched Grave of the Fireflies I didn't get teary eyed...I actually sobbed. God that was a depressing movie. If you knew me in person I would probably strike you as the type who's not very sentimental but there are many other movies that make me teary eyed such as Up!, Gattaca, Forrest Gump....

I honest to god can't really think of any moments that get me like that. There were a buncha people around here who lost their **** over Dear Zachary. the real tragedy there is that it shows how easily to legal system can fail innocent people. and that its 100% true

I love "The Power of One". I was so inspired by that movie when I was younger that I moved to Africa for a year. I love the music from that movie, it's amazing.

edit * Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew makes me cry with almost every episode.

ok that scene was sad. but mashing the HOLY **** OUT OF THE TRIANGLE BUTTON made sure that the emotions you had were trumped by the soreness of whatever finger you were using.

first 15 minutes of Up seriously is the most depressing 15 minutes of any movie ever.

I'm so jealous. Where did you move exactly, to the North or South? I've heard a lot of bad things about the South, with their gay-bashing and racism. But I won't lie. I've heard many good things about both sides. Everything can kill you there but Australia's the same way and I never had any problems there. But I've always loved movies that exploit the beauty of Africa. One of my all time favorite movies is Hatari!. Some other movies I kind of have a soft heart over is Batteries Not Included and The Color Purple.

I remember two. One was in Bolt when the little dog is so heroic and loyal it made me cry because I wanted to be just like him. It's an awesome movie, anything made by Disney is always good for a dose of morality.

Then there's King Kong in the final scene when he gets shot by planes. That made me cry when I was a kid watching the old version and made me drop tears when I saw Peter Jackson's remake too.

I moved to South Africa. I lived in Muizenberg. I went there for school. I attended a private University where you are required to take courses on 3 different continents. I chose South Aftrica as one of my continetns to take classess. I did my SBS or School of Biblical Studies (http://www.ywammuizenberg.org/training/bibdept.htm) there. I chose South Africa mostly because of the surf. The movie endless summer also affected me greatly. I wanted to go to all those spots and ride those waves. So I did and I even rode and ostrich.

castorz, I can't even watch the end of King Kong. It's just too awful for me. I saw the new one in the theatre and right before the end happens I left everyone I was with and waited for them outside. I have never seen the end.

I also can't watch the part in E.T. where he gets sick and white and they find him in the river bed and a raccoon is crawling on him. I have to fast forward.

"The Shawshank Redemption" is one of my all-time favorite movies. I still cry when I see it, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen it.

I cry at the end of "Field of Dreams." When Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) says, "Hey, Dad. You wanna have a catch."

Since my mom died, I tend to get choked up during certain death or funeral scenes in films.

Also certain types of music during a movie can bring up some emotion.
Finally, when hollywood gets it right with the comic book stuff I get a little misty from my nerd excitement.

My wife thinks its cute.

I'm really sorry to hear about that man. I know what it's like to lose a loved one but I can't honestly say how it would feel to lose a parent and really don't wanna think about what it would feel like because it hasn't happened yet. But my grandpa passed right in front on me, down to his last breath through my hands and to say the least, that didn't sit with me too well and still doesn't to this day. But to lose a parent? I just can't fathom the magnitude and my full sentiments go out to you.

That is so rad. I'd love to go some day and yes yes. You indeed have good taste in movies. I'm from a big surfer hippy family straight from San Diego. My mom and my uncles all hung out at the beach and my uncles did all the surfing. They did a lot of it out in Baja with all the secluded awesome surf spots they got out there. I myself have only surfed once when I was 14 but loved it. I've got a surf board in my garage that needs to be worked in but I'll get there. It's just I didn't have the life to fit surfing in at the moment but once things get together, I'll get there. My wife surfs too. So that's one of the things we sort of have in common. I don't surf, but I love surfing if that makes any sense. But ya, Endless Summer? I've seen 2 and that was awesome. Have yet to see the original.

That has got to be one of the greatest movie lines ever. And then he makes these weird Rover Dangerfield eyes while shaking. He's one of my favourite actors, always can look out for an intense performance with him...

I've never cried at a movie...maybe one day..

Yeah, I thought Children of Men was pretty depressing. For me the scene that felt like a punch to the gut was when they pass by the lady sitting in her own blood with both her legs blown away but she has a big smile on her face and is singing and waving at a small child that passes her by.

And Hotel Rwanda when they are driving back to the hotel and they believe they are on harsh road and get out to see through the smoke...that was a hard scene to watch.

I can't bring myself to watch The Color Purple or Precious. Both seem just too depressing to even look at the cover and I think Precious more so since it's based off of true events.

Oh man. Too many to think of.

The end of Saving Private Ryan
The end of Braveheart
The part in Edward Scissorhands when Edwards maker dies before he can finish him
Schindlers List
The beginning and ending of Up
A few scenes in Gods and Generals
The end of Gettysburg during pickett's charge
The end of Ben-Hur
The end of LotR Return of the King
Tears if the Sun
Requiem for a Dream

So as you can see, war films mostly are the ones that do it for me. I cried while watching The Room but that was because I was laughing so hard. :P

This one kinda gets me too. When everyone is bowing to Aragorn (probably not spelled right), and then when he gets to Frodo and co. and he tells them " You bow to no one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56KNaXza0BI)" and everyone bows to them.

Mine would read like some cliche list with only one or two possible exceptions. I'll give a brief excerpt along with the exceptions.

1) Omaha landing in Saving Private Ryan. Mainly the knowledge that, you know, that **** actually went down.

2) Along with that (and for the same reason): Numerous parts of Band of Brothers (the concentration camp episode, the wrap up talking about what happened to them all, etc.)

3) In LotR: when the Rohirrim charge Pelennor field (the ending didn't get me so much as this; I mean, come on, the Rohirrim knew they were going to get their **** rocked.)

4) Possible exception to the "cliche" comment: the scene in Scent of a Woman when Al Pacino and Chris O'Donnell are leaving the Colonel's family after Thanksgiving dinner.

5) Someone said Gattaca, yeah. At the end when

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Jude Law is climbing into the incinerator as Ethan is leaving for Titan. This is a weird one for me, because it is kind of a really good ending; Jude Law's character has fulfilled his role and is no longer needed, so he gets rid of the evidence of himself so Ethan Hawke's character can continue his life as an astronaut at Gattaca. But, it always gets me I think because I knew throughout most of the movie it'd come to that, but I liked his character so much I didn't really want to see it happen, even though it made sense on certain levels.

END SPOILERS

6) I'm going to nerd out here a sec: when Luke removes Vader's mask and and they have the back in forth about Luke saving his father.

There are others, but I don't want to look like a giant blubbering ***** to other people. Because, you know, men don't eat ice cream and watch movies like this to cry. Yeah. Because I've never done that. Nope. Never.

There are just way too many scenes in Beyond Borders that make me well up. I never appreciated my husband's strength and how mentally strong he is to part of an aid group until I watched this movie.

There is this one scene that really hits me in the chest everytime I watch it.

The Scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq6CGpDT3UE)
