Moving armies between castle and outside hero

I just got Homm V, and I am having a lot of trouble moving my creatures from the castle to my army outside. I drag them to an open slot, but when I let go of the mouse, they move back. DOes anyone know what am I doing wrong?

The 'hotspot' is in the upper left corner, creature stack moves into slot where it points.
