I have a question about the scale to the side of the chart in the Trigger Maru mod. Having used similar ones in RL I am assuming it is used the way I describe below. Please tell me if this is correct and if not exactly how I should be using it to calculate. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have been drawing a straight line through the time it took to travel a given distance, usually 1 nm. Then on through the speed bar. Where the line crosses the speed bar is your targets speed. Example: If it takes 10 minutes for the target to travel 1 nm the speed would be 6 knots.

I am probably WAY off on this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Ok maybe I am not so far off.. I found a speed calculator on the internet and inputed 10 minutes, 1 nm and it gave me 6 knots. Eurika! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Haha...
I have been trying to figure out how to use that scale too, and could not really figure it out. Im glad its there though as it gives us Skippers something to study and ponder over during our countless hours and days when we dont run into any contacts. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Er....ah...fellas.....seeing my name up there with Deuce and Tater was nice n all but I'm really just one of those 'what does this button do' kinda skippers. Those other fellas did all the work. I just, like you, get to enjoy the results.

People that play, comment, and help others out deserve an "attaboy" as well.

<S>

You are using the nomograph properly, I believe. I just take range and bearings at 3 or 6 minute intervals and do the (very simple) math.

Thank You. I was trying to figure it out myself. Cool thing to have on a sub lol.

I use the 1nm method and a small compass circle drawn at .5nm across the ships bearing line. Once he reaches the circle I start the in game stop watch and time him across. Once I get that time I draw a line across the nomograph to get his speed for my solution. It works good for close targets when time short.

Example of my usual pre-attack calculations:
