Extra exp. From R6V1 = No Achievement in R6V2!

To be more clear, I have heard that if you get the extra starting experience from beating R6V1 on realistic or getting to Elite, that will put you past the point for the Private First Class Achievement and thus you will never be able to get it. (XBox 360)

Anyone know anything about this?

So it's not a glitch but it's intentional that if you got 1000 in R6V1 you can't in R6V2? Sounds dumb.

Well Special Ops is still technically obtainable, the majority of people get it no problem but yes some people are unlucky.
I think it has something to do with having the extra maps downloaded... I've heard that people who delete the maps, clear their cache, delete their R6V save and go through everything again come out of it happily.

And this achievement isn't much like Special Ops anyways because it would be completely unattainable to everyone who gets the bonus, whereas Special Ops was only unattainable to some people.

However, may I ask we get back on topic?

I can confirm that this is the case, you get 2500 XP for being elite on RB6V1 and this levels you to "Specialist" thus putting you past PFC and meaning you do NOT get the achievement.

I Hope UBI can fix this.......

I was hoping this wasn't the case, but I just looked at the profile of that guy who posted screenshots of his leaked game (gamertag: sp3k). You can see that he doesn't have the PFC achievement even though he was showing off the unlocked gear.

This is nothing though, really. I'm sure it's easily fixed and I wouldn't be surprised if it unlocks when you get the officer achievement.

Is that not the same with 90% of games released?! They have deadlines to stick to and all publishers seem to put the game out knowing it needs a patch post release. Don't kid yourself....it aint just ubisoft.....it's everyone. COD4 is a prime example.
I do agree....it is annoying on their part that they missed this when testing. I'm not going to use my Elite status and my completion of the game on Realistic change my decision to boost myself in the new one. I will get everything on my own merits. I don't need a "boost" just because i'm talented enough to do the first one.

has anyone, who got the glitch, gotten enough XP to get the next achievement (achieving the rank of Officer)?

i wonder if it's sort of similiar to PGR... in PGR, if you get the Double Platinum achievement, you also get the Double Gold and Double Silver. what i mean is... would it retroactively add the Private 1st Class achievement when he hits the "Officer" achievement?

However, I very much doubt it as if you remember Vegas 1 there were people who glitched up to colonel level and then got XP up to elite - you could always tell as they did not have the officer achievement. So on past form it is unlikely to unlock the lower achievment

Insert your copy of Vegas 2, reach private 1st class, unlock the achievement. Then, sign back into Live. All your achievements are still going to be attached to the live service. Then repeat the same for the Vegas 2 file the retain all your bonuses.

I guess I'll find out this Tuesday.

what about your local copy of your account? because your achievements are there too...

the game still picks up your achievements stored in your account, as long as you have a local copy... which means that you'll have to delete and recreate your account offline in hopes that while offline, you don't pick up the old achievements. get the Private 1st Class and when you reconnect online, that the account correctly "merges" with itself.

gamerscore is something cool to get, but you all have to realize it means nothing, its just a ploy by mircosoft to have everyone be obbessed with it and buy more games and try and get there gamerscore up, just like that kid who had like 50,000 it means nothing.

Most of the time and i garantee so many people do this, is they just have help doing the actual achievements, thus making most of your gamerscore not even count any way, so whats the big deal?

I played mass effect before it was released, and other peeps could not see the achievements unlocked until the game was officially released. so my guess is that when the official release date has arrived, then the achievement will be visible to all. before release, the achievement is only visible to the owner, and only on his/her xbox

Can I just confirm to u guys that you DO NOT need to be Elite in RV1 to miss out on the Private 1st Class Achievement. I was 3 ranks away from elite and I have still missed out on the private 1st class achievement.
Nor did I complete the game in realistic. I did at casual and normal though.

bolox to this, ive been with rainbow since it first came out, i had to deal with many problems and mishaps with the bugs etc etc so i got stuck in and enjoyed what i could.. but there comes a time and place when someone grows tired..

In all honesty, Ubi do a good job, they managed to keep me engrossed for a lengthy period of time, When RB6-1 came out for the 360, aside from the glitches, Framerate issues (Got extremly slow when havin gunfights playin the story mode) and general **** talkin fcukers on Muiltiplayer.. i was lookin forward to the next release of the upcommin title yano as you do, somethin fresh (im not to botherd Vegas 2 seems like a expansion to some people, as i loved the first vegas, Ubi have added extra weapons maps etc etc thats fine with me)

Now i seen actrul proof and legitimate rumours that the game has minor glitches already, wtf?.. the game isnt even Released yet and Yes some people have got a copy but its them that have reported the issues, just think how gutted you would feel if on the day you get the game and realise the FIRST time you load it up fresh from the publishers.. ur faced with a minor glitch, it makes you wonder what other suprise glitches are present, If Ubi ''Missed'' this glitch even tho there should of been copius amounts of testing and tweakin (Im beginnin to think otherwise, as it seems rushed as it were) then they have proberly missed other vital bugs/problems.. So ubi stepped up and apprently Fixed the problem.. i noticed Levelup mentioned it was fixed.. but Ubi you shouldnt HAVE to fix anything, it should of been done when testing was in progress, im not rantin or *****in, am just statin the obvious, Its 2008 now, and bigger companys & Devs are commin up with new ideas (Some have released great games, others are about as useful as a ripped condom) if this carrys on in the franchise Ubi.. u can almost gaureentee the majority of ur fans will defect to find other intrests

I for one will be pullin out of the idea to buy vegas 2, as Unreal Tournament 3 and GTA4 is on the horizon, ide rather spend my cash on 2 games which i will enjoy knowin that the devs workin on them I.E Rockstar, Epic games have got the right ideas and knock out some great games, its a shame really as vegas 2 gets released on thursday... i just dont see the point on purchasin it if the games already flawed, ill give Ubi the benifit of the dought and keep upto date on Hands on reviews and peoples thoughts about it.. if then and only then i can see some light at the end of the tunnel for vegas 2 i will give it a chance and buy it..

Well look at it this way. What does achieving anything in any game mean? So your Elite on Raibow Six Vegas, is that something to be proud of? Yeah sure it's an accomplishment, you put alot of time and effort into getting. Same with your gamer score. It's a point of pride among Gamers. And if you tell me you are a Gamer of any stripe and you don't like showing off what you have done in your gaming then you are either lying or not a true Gamer.

Having said that, one's gamerscore means alot to some and nothing to others. Therefore not getting an achievement for something like this is noteworthy and a totally legitimate gripe. Since the whole idea of the XP bonus is to REWARD players of the first game. Give them a lil something extra, so we get one thing and another is taken away? What kind of reward is that? Personally I'll take the XP and not mourn the loss of the Achievement. But that's my opinion, not everyones.

So yeah "get over it" doesn't cut it. Maybe for you but others play these games and they have the right to voice disappointment about this. After all you have the fact that the Devs did not tell us about this up front did they?

No it hasn't. Put the game in, didn't get an update and got my bonus exp for beating the first game on realistic and attaining Elite rank, and went straight to specialist and didn't get an achievement for Private First Class.

I hope that the patch that is being sent out (or the one you are working on) gets the achievement retroactively for those of us who already have gotten past the rank of PFC, not just fixing it for the people who haven't already put the game in and received their exp-bonus.

Wow that really ticks me off. I can just imagine if there are glitches that UBI will act just as responsible as they did with the first Vegas and NEVER FIX THEM. It is very niave for that other person to say it can't be released with bugs. I have done every map 4 times in the original vegas and don't have the achievement. I deleted the new maps cleared the cache still nothing. All I got from MR Hanky the meatpuppet was lol it will never get fixed. Come on this is what you get when kids run a company instead of professionals. That being said I can't wait for Vegas 2. But if there are glitches as severe as MLB 2k8 it will be returned promptly. What have we all become that we allow big companies like UBI to just sell us defective games for $60 bucks and then thank them for it. If you morons would demand quality products smart people like me wouldn't have to deal with this kinda ****. So not being able to get an achievement news before the game is released is a problem. And I wouldn't trust Mr. Hanky as far as I could flush him.

If you don't work for UBI than I am not calling you a kid. I am referring to the increasingly young age at which people are obtaining important roles in video game companies. There was pages and pages of complaints and the only one that you respond to was while you were laughing. I see that as a problem. You could have handled it in a professional manner and referred him to a helpful link or someone else that can help but instead you laugh at a frustrated consumer. first thing that pops into your head is, MMOs? how about all the single player RPGs that came before it?

a simple shooter just gives you everything from the start, and lets you play to your hearts content.

is giving XP being true to "Tom Clancy"? i don't know, you'd have to ask "him" (whoever is using the name at the moment). but there is something to be said about XP... it does show relatively how long you've been playing (this game)... assuming you don't glitch it for free XP.

this gives me a couple of things... a player with lots of XP, and has a decent k/d ratio is at least decent and worth playing with. it shows they've been playing a while and know how to play. someone with lots of XP and really low k/d, sucks bad... and should be ignored if you want some decent play. of course you have to play a few rounds to get the k/d ratio. someone with low XP, is possibly just a new player, so maybe they should be given the benefit of the doubt. they could be pretty good. look at BF2... they use XP... i play just as effectively as a Spec Ops witht he starting rifle, as i do with the unlocked rifle (but i do like the unlocked G36c).

but unlike your MMOs... XP is pretty much only for customizations... a good player kill just as effectively with the starting equip as with any unlocked weapon/armor. in MMOs (like WoW), a relatively new player would have trouble trying to kill someone with high level weapons/armors and other unlocked spells/ability.

it really isn't "forcing" anyone to play longer either, it's just "rewarding" those that do. i mean, reward or not, if you're the kind that doesn't like the game after a while, you probably should stop playing at that point. but if you do continue playing, at least with the rewards, you can say "hey, something different."

but if a game has bugs, it has bugs. why would i think that they're trying to avoid these bugs? there are some bugs that are minor to me, and i don't give a flying etc. there are some bugs that weren't so minor, but they did get fixed.

to be frank, there are some complaints that i just don't get... i mean, i don't call myself a veteran of the game, but i have been playing R6 for a while, starting with Rogue Spear. i enjoyed the non-twitch-fest feel of a game that isn't Quake/UT... but not so much the planning. why does a "Tom Clancy" game need all that planning to be "good"? what i take from TC is, the characters are professional and always involved in some sort of clandestine issue. the character are able to effectively and rather systematically execute any mission, regardless of what unexpected things may happen.

even within the "highest ranks" there are ranks.

in Rainbow there are alpha/bravo/etc teams. team leaders and commanders. doesn't necessarily mean you're the best at "everything"... just really good at what you have experience with now.

i'm not comparing to the real world, but there are people that are known to be experts with only certain weapons, while not-so-expert with another weapon of the same class.

Well, I thought I'd try a few things.

Seeing how I've already played quite a bit of Vegas two and achieved some nice ranks, I don't want to reset my rank. In Vegas 1, I remember that when I retrieved my Live account to my brother's 360, my rank was reset on that 360. Once retrieved back to my own 360 it would be Elite again.

I thought I'd try that with this game as well. Retrieve the account, unplug Xbox Live and start with a clean slate, get that first achievement, go to Xbox Dashboard and sign back onto Live to refresh my Live account with that final achievement.

It didn't work, because now your XP is saved on a grand server, I guess. I retrieved my account, unplugged Xbox Live, and when I started the game, there was my customized character with all the XP intact. I don't want to reset my rank so I guess I'll join all of you in waiting for Ubi to fix this ****.

[Edit: Yesterday I sent a detailed question regarding this to Ubi's tech support, and all they send me back is "If we don't hear from you in 48 hours we will assume the issue has been resolved." So what, I have to ask over and over again?]

That's how UBI rolls. They know there is nothing you can do about it and they don't care. For reference read the forums for Vegas1 complications. Does anyone know what DEV or Moderators are supposed to be doing? Who do we contact when we need help with the game?

If you've completed Vegas 1 on realistic OR Got to Elite Rank you get +3xp for a kill

If you've compelted Vegas 1 AND got to Elite rank in Vvegas 1 you get +5xp for a kill

It seems this isn't the only achievement that's buggy. I played the campaign on Realistic with my brother in one go, from start to finish, and he didn't get the achievement for it. All the levels are marked off as being finished on Realistic but the game fails to unlock it for him.

I only got 310/1000, and i only completed the story in co-op on the easiest level...

Still, i missed out on the achievement for PFC when i loaded up the R6V2...

I got 1250 XP boost up not 2500XP, and I also went to Private First Class.. but with no acheivement. Ive advanced 4 or 5 ranks since then and not unlocked it also.

I got the 1250xp too. Except, when it said I ranked up, it said I ranked up to Private Second Class, then the next time I ranked, I was a Specialist. Odd?

By the way, the 'Veteran' status, isn't given only to the people with elite ranking in RSV1, if some people were wondering. It is given to the people who beat RSV1, and maybe played some multiplayer. It's just, whether or not you got the rank of elite/beat the game on veteran, that determines how much extra exp you get.

I only got as high as Captain, and beat the game on Normal, so I got 1250xp.

I got the 1250xp too. Except, when it said I ranked up, it said I ranked up to Private Second Class, then the next time I ranked, I was a Specialist. Odd?

By the way, the 'Veteran' status, isn't given only to the people with elite ranking in RSV1, if some people were wondering. It is given to the people who beat RSV1, and maybe played some multiplayer. It's just, whether or not you got the rank of elite/beat the game on veteran, that determines how much extra exp you get.

However, i am now at 9500XP and still no "Private First Class" acheivement.

This is not a rumor, it is true. It has happened to me, and 3 of my friends already. We were given enough XP that it bypassed the first achievement you get for ranking up, and so we cannot get it.

Does anyone know how to reset your rank?

Because I doubt Ubi will have a patch for this anytime soon, and I think it would be much faster to just reset, and get the achievement normally.

Besides, from what I heard from other people and from what I've seen, you can't reset your rank in this game. Even though I'm not usually all about the achievements, I do plan on getting them all for this game. It would be a shame if someone who hadn't played the first Vegas would get that chance rather than any of the hardcore gamers (and not so much hardcore gamers who still missed out on it).

Maybe I'm overthinking this. It's only 10 points, right?

Not at all. Completionism is important to a lot of people, myself included.

this is not just elites, but anyone who was given an XP bonus putting them above PFC. my brother doesnt even have a live account, and even his profile didnt get the acheivement.(i think his welcome back bonus was 1250XP)

Just to clear this up. Anyway who ever popped a Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 disk into their console gets the XP boost. Returning elites get the extra XP plus they unlock some clothing early.

Here is my problem, I as well did not get the private first class acheivment but problem is I started out at private 2nd class it just did not give it to me so I plan to transfer my My vegas 1 and 2 saves to a MU (if I can) delete my saves on the hard drive and go for the achievment. hopefully it it will work.

I'm not really knocking Ubi, they make some great games, but how many titles do they need to get under their belt before they can show any sort of competence.

i like the way achievements work and gives you things to accomplish, but some (more-so in the original vegas) are a bit over the top. i'd like to see a game with a tonne of achievements once this is sorted out.

Anyway, I have a question for everyone here about a different feature in the game that's related to the achievements. The first achievement you can get for being Knight instead of Bishop has a bage that you can see in the game. Even though I unlocked the achievement, the badge doesn't show. Same goes for my brother and a friend of his. Does anyone else have this?

I've only seen one post in here of a person complaining about finishing the game on "Realistic" but not being awarded the achievement for doing so. I finished the game on Realistic with another person that joined my room. He got the achievement but I didn't. Like the previous poster, if I go to scene selection, all sections of all maps are marked completed on Normal and Realistic. I'm a bit disappointed because I like the way that achievement looks. I don't care one bit about gamer score. I'm into the visuals of the medals and ribbons and such.

Any news from anyone if this is a glitch and if it is something that UBI is working to correct as well as the PFC issue? BTW... I was a rank of Capt. in R6V and was instantly promoted to PFC but without the achievement. :-) (don't really care about that one as much tho)

Just My 2 cents on the issue. Yes it's true that if you had the first RSV and you get the Dev. "gifts", the "PFC" Achiev. does not "pop". Also I DID get the "That wasn't so hard" Achiev. But the ribbon does NOT show in the "Ribbons folder" and does not indicate in the count of the ribbons that I've even unlocked it at all. One more thing if anyone at UBI is watching, there are two places that I had to literally "Walk" my A.I. team mates Back Through my original chosen path, YES backwards, to get them out of a glitch they could not walk past/through and then HAD to chose a completely different path!! Fairly crazy I thought! Thanks for listening! And By the way UBI, these ARE Frustrating things but it's still a GREAT GAME!! My Wife, MANY of my Friends and I Love playing all aspects of it!! Well yeah Im glad after reading through 10 pages of posts, I saw the "It has been fixed" which was obviously total BS I dont even know why Ubi would dare to say that when it hasn't, but then I found the UK Devs post saying it hasn't been fixed, and they are working on it.

Hopefully a patch can make it so it's like: if you dont have the achievement, but have a rank HIGHER THAN PFC, it will automatically unlock when you start playing or getting experience again.

really? at which point did they release a public statement that they are aware of the bugs and are working around the clock to fix it? i have seen one also they just ignore any emails you send to them, and having just finished the game and got it out to the public i imagine there all chilling on a beach somewhere while gamers are left here stressing with there rubbish left overs they need to sort it quicktime

Even if some people are point *****s, that's their choice. This game is supposed to work properly and even though I agree that people should stop complaining about it now, you can't possibly tell people to ignore these issues.

Yes, we've been told Ubi is working on a patch, so we should wait on that and be patient. But saying it's 'just 10 points' is lame. The achievements were put in the game to keep many people playing for a long time. To many people, the achievements in games have become as important, if not more important than the storyline of that game. It should be unlocked when conditions are met, and that's all there is to it.

Hi, I'm new here, I also didn't receive the achivement but also, I did the co-op story for Knight Achivement and I got it, but when I go to rewards and look at my ribbons I never got the ribbon for doing 1 scene as bishops teammate on any diffuictaly. Well I just noticed that I didn't have the Private First Class Achievement because my girl friend unlocked while playing V2. It is because we have played V1 that we never received the achievement. Which if you think about it, it makes sense that it passed testing because games are created on IF THEN Statements and obviously that statement isn't fulfilled. I know they can issue an update that would meet that statement for everyone, so I really doubt if stats will be reset.

Second, if people are having trouble receiving the three achievements for co-op, make sure you're not hosting. If you do host, you are Bishop. Obviously, once again, doesn't fulfill the statement of being Knight. Try that, and I guarantee it will unlock.

I don't see how they can fix this for people like me who don't have PFC achievement other than resetting our ranks or giving us the option to reset our ranks.

this same thing happened to me, the only thing is that i never really played the first vegas, i played it online a couple of times and i also played through about half of the story mode and when i started vegas 2 i skipped over this achievement

You still have to giver ubi credit for making such a great game and yet since its new theres a few kinks in the chain you guys still get mad over little things yet you guys while your typing all this and getting angry over it your not realising what ubi has already done to help you by making RSV and RSV2.

You guys are focused on the little things but your missing the big picture its a game. go have fun no point stressing over it. It's my favorite game this year and i dont give a **** about the bugs i just like how its fun to play and its a time killer.

This is a bug. I filed it with Ubisoft and they are looking into it. Maybe...hopefully not like they did for RSV1 and the survivor and sp. ops achievements which both are glitched due to updates. Most of those that got them, got them prior to any updates and they were obtainable at that time. Now they aren't. The case of having the downloaded maps or not - many have tried with and without the downloaded content and still no achievement. I won't go more into the RSV1 bugs since there are numorous forum posts on the RSV1 forums on this matter.

Just remember, if someone does what they are supposed to do and it doesn't work - then it is a bug. Just because for hundreds it works and for only one it doesn't, doesn't mean there isn't an issue. I code for a living, and if the program fails for one person and it is not a user or hardware error, then it is a bug.

Another bug I will post just so you all know, is respawning outside the map in story. This has happened to me and others I know. You die, your partner is still alive, you respawn, but you are in an area you normally can't get to, so therefore you can't get back in. This has happened in various spots, not just one specific scene.

This is kinda off topic, but while we're talking about bugs I thought I might as well bring it up. In Vegas 1 I occasionally had the sound of gunfire going off permanently even when nobody was shooting during multiplayer. In Vegas 2 this problem has apparently extended to the single player. It's quite annoying. Does anyone else notice this? I found out that if you pause the game and unpause it the noise goes away.

Also I was wondering when you hit a checkpoint and you have a certain weapon and then for example you run out of ammo and pick up a new weapon... when you respawn at a checkpoint why do you have the new weapon? This made me finish the last level with 4 clips and then I still didn't get my Realistic achievement.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't work anymore. I retrieved my Live Account on my brother's 360 (With NONE of my save files) and when I booted R6V2, my rank was still intact, and my characters was customized the way I had customized it. So before you delete precious saves, think about this.

Someone before me mentioned deleting their RB6V1 game save and then restarting on RB6V2 to get the PFC achievement, however I don't believe this works. I read in a different post that they someone tried it and it didn't work. You may just want to wait for a patch, I'm sure they will find some way to fix this in time. I agree it's bad they overlook things like this, but now we must have patience--the game hasn't even been out a week yet.

I go play online for one quick game.

I go out to eat lunch with my friends.

I come back.

Turn on the XBOX360.

Load up Vegas 2.

Add me to the list and I only had a week of play on vegas 1.The gs points mean nothing to me its about the gameplay.But anyone who drops 60 bucks on a game has just as much right to complain or inform about one problem as I do about another.The issue im having is with the AI teammates in story.I have literally had to push them around a corner to get them to go stack up in several places in the story.Im only on like act 5 or something like that.Also I had an issue where one of my teammates got stuck on a balcony when I had told them to breach in off the rope.One goes in fine the other just climbs off the rope.Never got that fixed.Finished the level with one team member.

you dont need to have finished the game or get 1000 in R6V. you just need a game save. and yeah you dont get the achievment points for being a pvt.

I have the "Freedom Shall Prevail Achievement" but not the achievement for completing Theater (which I have done on every difficulty to try and unlock). It seems strange that the game recongnizes that I have completed the game on realistic but doesn't acknowledge that I completed that particular level (3 times).

There are also discrepancies between my achievements when I view them through the game's menu and when I access them via the guide menu. The game doens't register that I have completed 1 scene as Knight but does show me as having the 5 and 10 scenes as Knight achievement. When I look at my achievements through the guide I can see that I have the 1 scene achievement.

None of this affects my gameplay or enjoyment, but does show a lack of attention on the Dev's part.

Yea but what's so amazing about the achievement of becoming Private 1st Class? - Nothing. I'll be upset if I don't unlock Elite - That's an achievement. If you want dross you can just play Avatar, Cars, Fantastic Four and such like. Nothing special at all about early achievements and everybody online knows it.

i am havin issues with the realistic achievement. i joined in with a buddy and beat the game on realistic from about halfway through.. when i went back to beat the rest of it to get my achievement it didnt give it to me. i dont waqnt to go through the whole game again on realistic. anyone else encounter this? any advice?

That sucks. This seems to be one of the glitched achievements in the game, along with Freedom Shall Prevail. Friend of mine and I played through on Realistic and he didn't get the achievement - I did though, which makes the whole thing irritating.

I hope they fix the PFC glitch though, because it does make going for 1000/1000 decidedly unobtainable.
