View Full Version : Back of Boat ISN'T 180 degrees with Periscope?!?!

When I use my Attack Periscope, Observation Scope, or Binoculars (prob UZO also), when looking directly to the rear, the bearing is something like 184 degrees (?!?!).
I thought maybe the scopes weren't mounted directly in the center, but when looking directly forward, the bearing is 0 degrees.
How in the world can the front of the boat be 0 degrees, and the rear of the boat be 184 degrees? Am I missing something obvious here?
Try it out- raise your scope a little bit, and look directly at the stern.
Is this a bug?

Its to do with your uzo ect. And pressing x on the notepad as they say to do doesnt do anything. You have to manually reset the uzo.
really annoying!!! lmao i missed with 3 torps today because i was doing iron sight shooting and just noticed that bug after the fact...
Grrrr.

I don't understand what you mean?
I play with auto targetting, and don't know about manually resetting anything.
All I know is that when I look at the stern with anything- either scope, binoculars, etc - the bearing is never 180 degrees.
Can I "reset" the scopes? - and how do I do that? What about the binoculars?
Why is it that only the rear of the boat is off, and the front is perfectly 0 degrees?

Mentions something in the manual. But then I find the manual PANTS. As there is so much it doesn't explain and explains things that don't even seem to have made it into the darn game.

yes it is exactly ( 180 + 185 ) / 2 = 182.50000000000000, and nothing else, if you want to play sharpshooter this is important to know. I mean that there is a game BUG here, and also with the tagretting computer ..
Also, when the game mess up the targetting computer so the torpedo does not stand on 0 0 despite you having target direction 0, and have the destroyer coming towards you head to head .... then set distance to 10000m, target speed 1 or maybe 2 knots and then play with AOB knob so that the torpedo get set to 0 0. Fun thing, the needels stay there for days. Need recalibrating if you change target direction to 180 and select stern torpedo.

Are you sure the periscope isn't offset half a meter or so from the center of the vessel?

Isn't it because of this?

I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
Whenever I look I get exactly 180. I even went and double checked before I posted.
I would like to point out that you might be talking about the gyroangle which has to do with where the torpedo will go not where you are pointed.
If your torpedo settings are neutral, (0kts speed) you will never get 180 on the gyroangle looking back unless you have seleceted a rear facing torpedo.
What sub are you guys seeing this with??

Yeah but lecek is your 180' directly aligned with the rear of the u-boat? Check the link for devnull's handy fix.

Perhaps a screenshot of what you are talking about can help, because I don't see it.
(I have a Radeon 9200 Gold video card. Perhaps that is part of the cause?)
