OK. This is my problem.
You hit F2 and adjust the position of the camera. Then you hit Ctrl F3 to kinda lock it in place (makes for good fly-by view).
Problem is: when recording the AVI it ignores the Ctrl F3 and just shows some F2 view.

Any fix for this?

I was trying to do a flick without Fraps and now this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

make sure that when you hit the ctrl+F3 the game is not paused.

You will find the edit and render options will not remember certain commands when the game is paused.

Here are some hints:

When paused, you can: normal zoom, normal pan, esc+shft pan, switch between all off your F views.

You can't: ctrl+zoom, ctrl+F views

It makes for a real pain the *** when trying to get good flyby's, etc.

Here's an example on how you would go about getting a zoomed in HEAD on flyby to render:

1. Start in the f2 view directly in front of the plane (adjust as necessary, CAN DO this while paused).
2. Now normal zoom out(/) key until your plane is just out of view (again you can do this in pause).
3. Now test your positioning by hitting play and then immediatly hitting ctrl+F3. Watch the flyby and then pause and go bake to F2 view to make any necessary adjustments.
4. Test again by hitting play and then immediately hit ctrl+F3 this time hit and hold ctrl+(/)as desired immediately after that to get additional zoom.
5. Repeat above until you have it right. REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID!!!
6. Restart the edit track and nail the shot on the first take.
7. Save and render.

Follow that and it should work for ya. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

you can do it but it wont remember it during playback.
Dont you render in fraps Amraam? IMO that is the best benefit to fraps.

Yeah, i use Fraps, i can't really stand using the in-game renderer, it really is extremely limited if you think about it.

But that's just me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Thank you Mr. L()Csta. It worked like that.

I prefer Fraps too but the end result isn't as good as the in-game-renderer. Perhaps a combination of both is the way to go!

Part of the problem is that the F2 view does not always start up in the same place so there is not a good reference. Solution: hit start and decelerate to .06x or 0.03x, then hit F3 to establish a known reference point. Then you can detach and move about to your camera point. Then hit cntrl-F3 and accelerate the sim back to 1x speed.

Must Agree with Glowing_Amraam and bsr.L()Csta.Fraps is most convenient but AVI tool is Much better Quality. I've just made a movie from a track I recorded with med. settings for game smoothness. Then rendered it with all options at Max, AAx4, AFx16. The Quality is stunning!. Ofcourse you will loose some of the quality when you compress it further in post production -most original clips are approaching 2G-, but still the final result is better than Fraps.
