would it be an idea if when COD arrives people could post their pc rig specs and their experience of how smoothly the game runs at whichever settings. This would make for interesting reading and give guidance to anyone thinking of upgrading on a budget. I was particularly struck by an article in Micromart recently that tested various graphics cards and cpus and concluded that the graphics card has way more influence now on how well a game runs than cpu once you get to a certain standard of cpu, therefore upgrading your cpu beyond, say a core i5 type level would gain you far less than upgrading your graphics card. I have always noted that IL2 has been described as a cpu limited programme, more dependent on cpu than graphics card. Will cod be similar or will it be like the games tested in micormart that relied more on graphics? I would have thought, having read the interview with Oleg and his colleague describing the much improved physics, damage models, ai etc that the cpu will be under strain, but maybe upgrading the graphics card would be the way to go as that countryside sure looks pretty and the lighting effects etc will be much more demanding? My rig currently has plenty of ram ( 8 gig) a reasonable core i5 760 cpu, but i reckon my graphics card, an ati 4850 will struggle unless I crank all the settings down. I am currently saving for a new card but think it would be good to compare rigs and framerates etc.

I'm sure people will do this a lot. Eventually we'll figure out whatever the COD equivalent of the Black Death Track is and you'll see a lot of benchmarking.

I have read before that all flight sims are CPU intensive. In most games ie FPS's ect you can only go in certain directions (corridors) that the programers have mapped out, so it eases the cpu workload. In IL-2 (COD) we can fly where we want to, so the CPU has to work out all the calculations on the fly so to speak of an A/C flying at 300k's an hour, taking the static objects, position ect into account.
I'm sure they will make it playable for current average pc's, and turn the "magic" switches as new technology becomes available.Ive been playing the BOB server to get used to place names ect, and most of the action takes place over water and farmland, hopefully it will be the same in COD. I'll be avoiding London with my current pc, though I look forward to one day flying Luftwaffe bombers over London at night http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
