Hello there i just bought sh5 since i am big fan and have all series

to be honest with all of u i am quite dissapointed
.. Game has fantastic graphs but it is heavily bugged
i got bugs in sound, gameplay, graphix, and more..
i got frustrated each time i even try to play for a few hours

i checked posts in forum and everyone complains about crashes and major problems so its not only me
i really cant understand how the design team released the game since they are aware of its bugs

i feel that they managed to ruin a great game that i was fun for years
at least i hope they will come up with a patch that fixes all cause the 1.2 is simply not enough
thank u in advance for reading this hope u understand the people's need

Mods can go a long way to fixing some of the bugs, but yeah the game was released in a pretty poor state. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Then you'll have to play console arcade games instead of PC simulators. That's the sad truth.

Indeed. I'm assuming you have the 1.2 patch. I will say that without mods, the game is quite playable. There are some issues that remain and mods solve many of those. Some mods enhance the game - better, more realistic graphics, for example. Some enhance realism. SH5 is a cross between a game and a simulator. Some of us want a more "immersive", realistic experience and mods are the answer.

I will note that some bugs supposedly fixed in 1.2 may or may not have been. For example, the magnetic pistol problem may have been fixed in a historically accurate way. That would mean that the magnetic detonator won't be reliable until December 1942. I haven't heard from anyone who has actually tested the magnetic pistol after that date - I'm currently up to July 1941. I don't recall any scenarios occurring after 1942.

The game MAY also have some features some of us were clamoring for in the previous iteration, SH3: wolfpacks. I posted on my one experience with this. Thus far, I haven't been able to replicate my experience.

I think the biggest failing of the game is the poor documentation. I really don't understand that, unless the assumption was that the very active online community would provide answers as, indeed, it has in my experience.

If you have specific questions, someone here can probably answer them.

i believe your approach was more than sad
since i get a game i expect it to be bug free and 100% working
U think that mod is the solution. I dont, i expected something more, since each series meaning is to improve a game.
If the target is "oh ok release it and users will fix it, if not let em play arcade"
U are more than wrong and arrogant

That is your problem. That will never happen. Deal with it.

Accepting that truth and using mods is how I deal with it and I enjoy the game very much. You apparently refuse to believe that truth and refuse to use mods and come here and complain and don't enjoy the game.

I'll leave it up to you to decide which approach makes more sense. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

this discussion is months old, multiple threads about this topic already, feedback from the latest patch has been forwarded to UBI, you and me both are paying customers who are left with this unfinished product. no one is listening to our rants

mod away or just don't play!

Its funny i am getting "attacked" from ppl in here cause i just seek what a byuer wants from his product:
proper function and satisfaction.
If u think i deserve to go play arcade games because i dont want to use mods, then its u who are weirdos and not me

nobody's attacking you, you are right in what you say, we too are all in the same boat (no pun intended) its just those are the available choices at the moment until UBI sorts it out

this was the most "correct" approach since my last post
So since i got no choice can an experienced player give me a path on working mods sice i love this game and want more of it

Here are the mods I use - most are on the recommendation of Eoweth, BTW.

Several of the Ail graphics mods: ClimateZones, Clouds, Moon, Rain;

BRF 1.3

Damage Assessment

NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_AllDails_TDC

NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_ByTheDarkWraith

The Elite Campaign 1.1

Torpedo_Speed_Abilitie_Fix_for_TDC_SH5_v120

U-boat Historical Specifications 1.4
[/list]
I consider the Torpedo Fix and Damage Assessment by far the most important. The Elite Campaign enhances the ability of the British escorts.

There is a thread on this forum where Eoweth lays out his recommendations with links. I'd recommend you go there.

Once you're fully modded up, check out the wolfpack challenge (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1121062387/m/7641004568). I'd like to verify that my one experience with a wolfpack showing up was not a one-off fluke and/or what are the parameters for successfully bringing together a wolfpack.
