How many people in R6V 1 (PC)?

Hi,

Saw it for 20 USD and planning on getting it for better graphics than my PS3 game. Question is, is the online still active? How many servers or players populate online at any given time?

Have not seen the PS3 game but I seriously doubt you'll find the PC game having better graphics. Oh and God forbid you don't have a super rig as you will feeel how unoptimized the console to Port PC game really is.

It is said though that the MP for Vegas 1 is more active than the Vegas 2 game.

At 20 bucks it is still to expensive for what I would pay for a decent game but, you may enjoy it more than I did.

I just checked both Vegas 1 and Vegas 2.
Vegas 1 has:
4 servers in Story mode.
6 Servers in Terrorist Hunt.
3 Team Sharpshooter
And a couple of other servers.

Vegas 2 has:
15 Story servers with 4 open.
62 Terrorist Hunt Servers with 159 players.
Lots of versus servers but only 10 players.

If you have the system to run it, Vegas 2 has better, sharper graphics!
I just checked both and didn't realize that Vegas 1 graphics look more washed out than Vegas 2!

Vegas 1 has 4 player story!
Vegas 2 has 2 player story .. plus your Ai dummies!

If you like T-Hunt, I would go for Vegas 2!
Also, in Vegas 2 you can rank up if you like that sort of thing, and make your own custom camo once you get to Elite!!

Be warned that both versions have issues, and it appears that Ubisoft is done with both games.
We have been waiting for 2 months for Vegas 2 to be fixed and not so much as one word from Ubisoft!!

This is just my opinion, and that of the group I play with, but we all like Vegas 2 better.

We just wish that Ubisoft would fix the many issues!

My personal opinion and advice to everyone when choosing between Vegas 1 or 2 is this : Go to RvS or OGR.

I just got R6V 1 (already have R6V2 on PS3 though) and you were apparently right. The graphics appear washed out, and not any better than my PS3 version.I can't even get the resolution up to 1440 x 900, my laptop's highest possible res. It can't go higher than 1280 x 720. There's not even a anti-aliasing option and the video settings in the menu lack any detailed tweaks. Where's the option to set texture resolution? Plus the game slows down in some areas, with FRAPS I noticed the frames up at 40+ then in some areas down to 17 fps. Incredible! I have a 8800m GTS, 4 GB memory, and C2D 1.83 ghz pc.

I will try that resolution hack sometime later as well as those game tweaks from the sticky.

One final comment: the online seems better than the PS3 one, better interface and an actual server browser list. The ps3 game did not have one. Plus there are still some players left. The online is still a big sell for me on R6V1.

I forgot to mention that Vegas 1 had problems with wide resolutions.

Vegas 2 did a little better job with that!

Hi, use this tweak to get rid of the sh*tty bloom in V1.

It is PB safe also:

First make a backup of:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\Engine\Shaders\HLSL\MegaPostProcess\Blur.hls l

then open the file in notepad and change the line that reads:
return lerp(PreviousColor, BlurColor, Factor) + BloomColor;
to:
return lerp(PreviousColor, BlurColor, Factor);

and

float3 BloomColor = BlurColor * BlurScreenThresold.g + BlurScreenThresold.r;

BloomColor = max(BloomColor, 0.0f) * BlurScreenAmount;

change them to:

//float3 BloomColor = BlurColor * BlurScreenThresold.g + BlurScreenThresold.r;

//BloomColor = max(BloomColor, 0.0f) * BlurScreenAmount;
