Hi,
I can't exit out of my game at all (URU, complete chronicles), the exit keys do nothing. Also, I'm not getting any dialog from characters unless I start to step away and stop at just the right moment, by that time I've missed most of it. Number lock also disables once game is in play, so those keys are useless.

Other than that, all sounds and images seem to be working fine.

Anyone else run into these problems?

Thanx in advance.

When you exit Uru, always try the following options in the order shown:
-- a. The [X] icon in the lower right corner of the screen
-- b. Alt-F4
-- c. Ctrl-Alt-Del
-- d. Computer reset button
-- e. Computer power switch
-- f. Power strip switch

Suggestions:

1. If you've been hitting the computer reset button, turning off your computer, etc., to exit Uru, you should do some hard-drive maintenance. Ungraceful shutdowns usually leave your hard drive with cross-linked and orphaned data clusters, which can eventually lead to loss of data and/or disk access problems! You should do at least steps 3 through 6 under Overall Windows and Hard Disk Tune-up With Win XP in Uru: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP, Including Windows & Hard Disk Tune-up (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/356106565), one of the stickied topics at the top of this Forum.

2. Check your Uru setup.
-- a. Take a look at Uru - Ages Beyond Myst Manual.pdf, which you'll find in \Program Files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds\Uru - Ages Beyond Myst. Make certain that you have the game set up properly.
-- b. Go through the Setup Menu that comes up when you start the game. Also take a look at Uru: Changing Game and System Settings With Win XP (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/182100665), especially under 'Sound Settings'.

3. If suggestions 1 and 2 don't solve the NumLock problem, try re-installing Uru from a clean boot as detailed in Uru: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP, Including Windows & Hard Disk Tune-up (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/356106565).

If Uru still doesn't play properly after the above, you may have a hardware or driver problem. Post a DxDiag report in this topic so that we can take a look at your system and make recommendations. See Posting Guidelines and URU minimal requirements (YOU MUST READ before posting) (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=400102&f=524109302&m=937105842) under 'To post a DxDiag report' for a how-to. Run all of the graphics and sound tests you can before saving the report to a file, and then post ALL of the file.

Not running XP, but I'll check the URU manual.

Theres an X at the bottom of the screen? hmmm, have to look for that. ctrl+alt+del doesn't work.
Any suggestions for the sound glitch? Tech suggested updating my video drivers. Video?

Video drivers can cause all sorts of weird problems, including with sound. That's why you need to post a DxDiag report, as detailed above, so that we can make recommendations about drivers among other things.

Also:
-- a. Read Uru: Saving Game Progress (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/261104565).
-- b. Take a look at the Uru users manual, which is Uru - Ages Beyond Myst Manual.pdf found in \Program Files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds\Uru - Ages Beyond Myst. It includes lots of little tidbits, like the bottom taskbar, etc.

I ran the dxdiag (sent to the support team), then per their suggestion, updated the drivers. Texture accsl is not available on my card (ati 9000+) but other tests were ok. Might just need a new sound card.

On another point, did I see somewhere a posting about crashes entering Gahreesen? My game has crashed several times linking to the entrance. Didn't want to repost if there's one out there already.

Thanx for the help, btw.
