As many have complained, all recent NVIDIA driver releases have some kind of incompatibility with enabling anti-aliasing (AA) and Raven Shield. To wit, enabling AA makes the opening cinematics fail to display any visuals, removes the spinning Rainbow 6 logo from the map loading screen, roughly quadrupules the map-loading times, and causes the game to hang completely if the restartmatch admin command is used. I've been complaining to NVIDIA now for months about it.

So here's my plea: for any of you in the same situation, please help me in helping NVIDIA help us! Please take a moment to visit the following site and report exactly the same problem.

http://support.nvidia.com/Content/NVSupport/frmSupport.asp?RequestTypeID=1

I figure they'll only fix it if there's sufficient outcry, so please help in this endeavor. It worked just fine in the by now quite old 61.21 and 61.36 builds, but those versions have significant and in some cases crippling other bugs. Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you know if these, 61.76, work as they should? :
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.76

They were released 7 days earlier than the 61.77, main difference is 77's are not WHQL certified and 77s add support for DX 9.0c

Or do ppl have to go back to the 61.21 and 61.36 you mention?

They have the same problem. For the record, I've tested 61.21, 61.36, 61.76, 61.77, 65.73, 65.76, 66.00, 66.32, 66.70, 66.51, 66.81, and the recent (but strangely numbered) 61.82. Of all those driver builds, only the 61.21 and 61.36 drivers work properly with AA enabled in Raven Shield. Unfortunately, both of those builds have a bunch of other freaky problems as well.

For example, the 61.21 drivers don't allow the user to create or save any custom profiles, while both sets have polygon-tearing artifacts in Halo, strange green glowing artifacts in many games, relatively poor performance in DOOM 3 compared to newer drivers, etc. For whatever it's worth, I'm using the 66.81 drivers as my current default. They seem to have the best performance and no problems aside from the issue with Raven Shield.

What's really pissing me off, I think, is that I expected better from NVIDIA. Their last official driver release was at the end of July, more than two months ago, and they haven't even acknowledged the issue. That's pathetic. It makes me think I should go back to ATI.

Wow you've done some research http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Noticed that the latest drivers were for late July too. ATI releases drivers every month, why I will buy ATI even if nvidia on paper or in some reviews <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">might</span> be a little better in performance.

Do you know when next official release of the nvidia drivers is?

Also the 61.77 is not WHQL certified as the previous nvidia set, not that it matters a great deal I often use non-WHQL drivers, but you would think that they would have time to get them certified since it is so long time since release.

You know, the funny thing is that this is exactly the opposite of what I had always heard. That is, I had always heard that ATI had crappy drivers compared to NVIDIA, and that was indeed my experience when I switched to an ATI 9700 Pro some years ago. But then I recently switched to a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC card (http://www.geocities.com/phileosophos/tech/ativsnvidia3.html) and have since found that I had better driver support with ATI! There are some other reasons to use NVIDIA, as I document in that little essay, but I do miss the customer service in the driver department from ATI. Go
figure.

Nope. NVIDIA hasn't responded to a single of my many messages.

The certification process takes about 4 weeks from what I understand. And I suspect that they might be nearing a release soon. I say that because if you notice the driver build numbers, they've gone from 66.xx back to 61.82 of late. That makes me wonder whether perhaps NVIDIA is looking to release a new set soon. Me, I hope they fix the ****ed problem with Raven Shield first. So again I ask: please contact NVIDIA and complain about AA! Thanks all!

I am glad i found this post. I have the BFG 6800 OC running the 66.81. Drivers work well for all other games, but not in RvS. I have AA turned off and i still get the stupid error message when i close out of the game and sometimes it reboots my machine. That i am not too happy about.

Just FYI, the latest official release from NVIDIA, the 66.93 drivers, STILL don't fix the problem. They do seem to cut the load time from 400% of what it should be to 150 - 200% of what it should be instead, but the cinematics still don't play and the game will still hand completely if the server is given a 'restartmatch' command. Everyone PLEASE go to that link from my first message and complain to NVIDIA. It's our only hope of getting it fixed.

Yea already seen two post about the problem still exists in 66.93s
thread1 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=327106611&m=4211080042)
thread2 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=327107011&m=1371030042)

I guess ppl with nvidia cards don't care as nobody is posting in this thread other than 3 ppl, and I don't even use nvidia http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Those bastards! They still didn't fix it? I won't be downloading these new drivers even though i want to. **** them!! I play with 4x antialiasing on all games so this is such a let down. After i put my complaint in to them also..

In thread1 he now says it works??

but not if it is the new 66.93 drivers or what, I can't test for obvious reasons. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
