Just wondering if I could get some help from you guys. I bought GRAW 2 today and installed it on my PC. The Install went seemingly well and I started the game and went to do the tutorial on campaign and was confronted with just a blank screen and the occasioanl 2/3 second flash of what looked like the game. Afer a few minutes, I got the;

"
Crash in application version: 29980.2562

Vertex buffer Lock returned null pointer. Out of memory?

Renderer: threaded
Physics : threaded
"
error code.
I read around a it and tried turning my "Dynamic Shadows" setting to low, this stopped the crash, but now I can see the sky, the crosshair and not a lot else!
It just looks like this (Screenshot) > http://tinyurl.com/2d9lbm

Anyone know how to fix this?
I've got;
Intel Quad Core Processor (4 x 2.66)
2 GB RAM
nvidia 7900GS Graphics Card
Vista Ultimate 32bit
Latest nvidia, Ageia drivers and GRAW 2 v1.04 installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet Jesus dude... you're Invisible! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

By latest Nvidia driver you mean version 163.44? is your sound card also updated? Are you using the same resolution in the game than in windows enviroment? Sorry, you are running Vista and I no nothing about that beast but I wanted to throw my 2 unworthy cents http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

163.44, that's the beta isn't it? I'm still on 162.22 because that's what came up when I put my card model into nvidia's website. Should I try 163.44? (Bearing in mind that my card is a 7900GS)

I didn't think to update my sound driver, I'll do that now.

And yes, I'm using the same resolution for both Windows and GRAW 2.

I have 2 7800GTX's and I am using the 163.44 beta as it is the only one that will allow the use of DYNAMIC SHADOWS on HIGH!

Try it, if it doesn't work for you just roll back.

Yeah, the update to the beta 163.44 soolved the problem and I can now see myself and the environment around me. I've even managed to put dynamic shadows back up to high too! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for the help, it's a great game now that I've managed to get it working. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Snipe see I told you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Just a note on this and Vista.... Vista has memory problems see microsoft fixes.

You need min 2 gig memory for Vista as a gameing machine.

Driver support is not good and definatly not optimized.

Best option is dual boot, at least until October when microsft release service Pack One and Drivers are better.

LOL about Vista.

I'm so glad I didn't make the change. Once the bugs are ironed out, I'll move over. Meanwhile XP Pro works just fine for me.

Personally, I haven't ahd nearly as many problems with Vista as I had expected. It's had the odd compatibility issue where I've had to migrate over to another program, and the GUI may slightly geared towards n00bs, but overall I'm quite happy with it so far. Roll on SP1, I'm hoping that the driver support is slightly improcved so the limits on specific programs are much less noticable. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm hoping for some cool new features too, who's got the dreamscene beta? From using it I think that it's quite a cool idea (not that I'll be using it though! :P)

@colin

it's weird, our PC does exceed the Minimum Requirements, also the Driver didn't work...163.75 the latest for 7300GT Sonic (Palit) it still kept showing the same error...dunno why http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yes it does it depends though what else is running on the computer and also what settings you have the game running at.

Example min spec machine trying to run game at a very high resolution.

Or high shadows turned on.

AV programme running in the background etc.
If you read the link above re the gpu card it says casual gamers card, this game is very high end.
Intensive on gpu and cpu.
Tweaking will make it run better.

hmmm...other stuffs i read on the tweaker or already tweaked in my PC...there's no AV running, The Dyna Shadows are off... and Medium Settings of the game...except patching it to 1.04

Have you updated the sound drivers and try using the render ahead fix, its here somewhere at the top.

Turn off EAX in sound settings.

hey Colin...good news...the Patch 1.04 removed the error...but now...i have few random errors...

first one i saw is:
*[Under Low settings(all)]
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Crash in application version: 30621.2989

Could not load geometry because IDirect3D9::CreateVertexBuffer failed.
This device does not support the queried technique.

Renderer: threaded
Physics : threaded
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Then the next one i saw was Graw unknown error: ???? ???? ???? Stack ?????

Renderer: threaded
Physics : threaded

then the other one was something about material stuffs..but the first one appeared mostly...im on act II Joining forces (ciudad juarez) and i can't get away any longer because the first error appear mostly...it's already under low settings and EAX is off...

this one is just new...and my GRAW 2 is now updated to 1.04 patch thanks to ubisoft and you guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

so...how do i solve this?
