in this screenie looks as if there will be somewhere between 40-50 men in an infantry unit. this makes sense since all units cost the same and it appears there are 4 tanks to a tank unit and 3 helos to a helo unit. just thought i would post this to try and help people's estimations with unit sizes, just trying to help that's all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good detective work although it's possible the map may be showing all friendly units that is to say units that are JSF, but controlled by other players. I'd hope however that it's for a 1 on 1 battle and that you COULD control that many units.

okay thats smart to think but now im confused. cuz in the video he selects like 6 helos but it shows 40 when they are flying so was this just for the vid or it will it be like that in game?

yeah i was thinking that too, which could mean double of whats shown on this map making 8 tanks per thing and 80-100 men per infantry unit because with the 80-100 then it wouls be possible to get up to 1000+ on other side but they say they want to focus on smaller scale battles so it could be around 40 per infantry unit so that each team gets up to like 500 men making the 1000 quota
my guess is that its 12 US units against 12 Russian units all crammed into a small section of the paris map, reason i say this is that there r markings with a A and a Z which means there should be more points to capture in the map since the entire alphbet isn't on there.

I don't think when he says 1000 units on the battlefield that he's referring to how many units you could control but rather ALL the number of units, friendly and enemy included.
World in Conflict which seems to have a similar setup in terms of MP (except that's it's not a persistent battlefield)has about 500 units TOTAL, on the ENTIRE battlefield. In fact the number of units you can actually control if you select armor is about 4 tanks. If you pick helos, it's about 3 helos. You can't mix and match, so this is one other difference I believe will exist in Endwar because I believe you can mix armor with infantry with helo in one combined arms task force.

This pic also may show hints on how the VOICE COMMANDS may work. See the numbers beside the squads? Now see the letter for command post postions? You might end up saying "Squad 8 attack enemy Squad 6," or maybe, "Squad 4 capture command post W."

If you look at the trailer, when General Smith selects the Helos and Tiltrotors, on his map, you see seven Helos and One Tiltrotor. When the trailer zooms out to the real view, we see that there are actually dozens of helos and at least 4 or 5 tiltrotors, so I think your command map is not "to scale" on unit sizes.

yeah i agree, it's probably not to scale. Plus scales can't wok prime number like 7, unless you have half a image of a unit.

Notice on the map there is no similarity between unit numbers i wonder wat gives them their number?

Probably unit designation, something like 5th Guards rifle battlion, or 9th Motor Rifle Division

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but every unit has a number next to it except for what appears to be the Russian Fighter Squadron on screen. I was just wondering if this gives any indication to the way in which they may be used during the game.

they should add a grid so you could move the units easier

so you can say something like... squad 5 move to position g3

maybe that fighter was just called in and once it drops it's bombs it will go away, so it wouldn't need a number because you can't control it like you can control other units, it just goes in does it's job and leaves

I completely agree with you. I mentioned this in the Naval Warfare thread but I believe that Fighter Squadrons and Naval Fleets will work similar to the Naval units in Total War. You move them on the campaign map to transport troops and attack other naval units however you dont have direct control over them in the naval engagements. Fighters also seem to have a perimeter around them that probably indicates their effective range and whether or not they can be used within a battle. Also they will probably work like World in Conflict where you can call in an airstrike.
