Just got my full game today and thus joyfully installed it, however...

The install goes fluidly, but when I start the game, the screen shifts to black, flickers for half a sec and then the computer restarts.

Windows tells me that my video driver is let into an information loop: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=3bd20b69-...-24500c84af03&SID=11 (http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=3bd20b69-ec56-428a-a4b0-24500c84af03&SID=11)

Note though, that turning Graphic acceration off do not solve my problem, the game behaves the same. I have installed all new drivers for my Radeon X800 XL card, and my onboard sound (realtek AC97), no use though.

Do anyone know something that can help me play my game? have been looking forward to it for some time now.

Computer spec:
AMD Athlon64 2.4 GHz
1024 Dual-RAM (3200)
RADEON X800 XL PCI-express 256 mb graphics.
Windows XP.
----------------
DirecktX 9.0c
Catalyst 6.4

Note: I only have SP1 installed for the moment, but since the game can run on Win95 and up, I cant see how this would be a problem, unless theres some conspiracy between Ubi and Microsoft ^^

Also note that I have no problems what so ever in any other game I play, nor the demo with I completed 3 times.
other games that run smooth.
- Dawn of war
- Winters assault
- Oblivion
- Quake IV
- Starwas Battlefront II
- Starwars: Empire at war
- Age of Empires III
- WoW
- DDO: stormreach

Thats quite a broad spectrum after all...

Waffles?

If you are talking about heroes 5 game only suports 2000/xp. I suggest you install service pack 2 it solved a lot of problems.

My mistake, thought it suported earlier versions too.

because I got an error with my windows key, I cannot install Service pack 2 without reinstalling windows, which to say it lightly I would rather not, yet at least, am going to when vista is released.

But is strikes me as odd, that I was able to run the Demo with no problems at all, and it dont seem like they did much to the game in between (my roomate got the game too).

Also, if I really got a problem with my drivers, other games should show signs.

Did you uninstall the demo? If not do try so.
Btw you can install serice pack from here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Windows-XP-SP2-RTM.shtml
It's a package that you can use and you don't have to install win (usually).

Okay, I cant install SP2 since my windows is not geniue, and I dont care to reinstall it, dont have any way of conserving my data while doing so..
So I hope theres other solutions.

btw, if SP2 is needed, it should be listed on the game as a requirement, it is not however, so we must conclude that the problem lies elsewhere.

Anyone have any ideas? It runs on my dads computer, and my sisters. Both have SP2 though.

Anyone having succes playing on a computer without SP2? that would reassure me that its not the problem.

thanks.

People can run the game on sp1 but most people have problems due to this. For some it works perfect for some it doesn't.

Try this:
Download this file:
http://rapidshare.de/files/21217344/Profiles.rar.html
Unpack it to your My Documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles. If those dirs aren't there create them.
It's my profile set at 1024*768 with lowest, no aa, no af, no shadows.
So use it to start the game. After that you can create yourself a profile.
