Ok I am revisiting My very, very, first skin ever, and I have totally repainted it as a FB Skin from new, I am also experimemnting with a way to get rid of the dots etc without resorting to bright, whilst allowing some subtle weathering as seen in the shots below, (like the walkway and fuselage side),but it is not finished yet.

Anyway, I digress, does anyone know what is causeing the black mark fwd of the wing walkway at the wing root on both side? I have tried to get rid of it, but its doing my head in/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Sorry Hunter, didn't realise you had done it too, but variety is the spice off life /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif sorry if the pictures are a bit dark, but they show my problem.

Oh it's my first FW 190 on FB by the way

PLEASE SEE THE NEW POST BELOW /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Dirty little bugger, isnâ´t she?

Nice work! But just as you said, strange black marks on the forward wing roots...

Iâ´ve never done a skin for the FW 190, so I shouldnâ´t be making comments, but they COULD BE the markings found on so many other templates that are there as a sort of positional reference for template/skin makers. I havenâ´t seen them this big, though, they do appear quite large in your skin, and not the usual circular shape Iâ´ve seen in other templates...

Maybe some of the 190-skinners can be be of better help...

Good luck! And, by the way, very nice looking skin...

Nice skin Tony! The little black thingies look like a bit of the tires showing through the upper wing surface, don't you think? It's even rounded on the outer portion. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Don't know what could be done to get rid of it though...

Ahh, the dreaded tire. I was annoyed at this early on as well, but there's no work around since it's a fault of the model rather than the mapping of the skin.

More of a bother to me was the way the leading edges of the wings are shaded in segments at the 'break points'. Some colors seem to show it off more.

BTW, what a very dusty plane. I've not seen such a convincing representation of this until now. Nice work.

It looks like you just lowered the opacity for certain layers. Dont do that. Looks to dirty.

Thanks As for the lowering of levels well its not totally true, the methos i am trying to get right, the way i am trying to do them allows me to modify it very quickly to get the desired results, do you all prefer this as a less weathered look? bear in mind though, the above versions were far from finished,as is this /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

OK, you know that once in a while feeling you get when you are really getting into the skin you are doing and feel rejuvenated, a bit like de-embalming Hunter /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well this is mine, so i am spending a fair amount of time on this skin and trying to improve its appearence and the feeling of a realistic look, so far i have been working on the port wing and the fuselege sides and they are not finished yet, so you will see the odd little flaws but these will be corrected, I have not had to use Bright yet on it so i am feeling well pleased with the results, comments are welcome, I have taken onboard the previous ones and modified it accordingly, well enough of me , too the pictures/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

TaylorT, AWESOME work so far! I have always like the the JG300 planes.......I WAS gonna do the same skin after my current project, but your shoes are to big to follow http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Hopefully I will have my current project (historical pilot and wingman) in the next couple of days. When I was researching the skin you are working on, I discovered that the Coat of Arms is only on the left side, while on the other side, the name "Edelgard" (spelling?) is on the opposite side...not another coat of arms...just for your info in case you didnt already know........cant wait to see the finished project.

ool i didn't know, the book i am using shows three dimentional pictures of it but have been painted to show the skin, and that shows it on both sides, do you have a picture of it?

XyZspineZyX

I dont have a pic of the Edelgard side, but the color plate has a narrative and description to it and thats where it specifically advised on the "Edelgard" on the opposite side....

XyZspineZyX

The narrative is pretty descriptive....the Coat of Arms is of some German town I cant remember, and the Kolle Alaaf! is that towns carnival greeting.......it dosnt say who or what Edelgard is, but I imagine the pilot's wife?

Daaaaa Daaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Pic of the other side of Red 19. Ok, its only a radio controlled model, but the owner knows Schroder, the pilot of the real Red19, so the details should be pretty acurate. I will post the links on the il2skins.com forum.

Ok I have left a Couple of the original pictures up so you can get an idea of the difference, The scheme weathering has been darkened down to richen the scheme, while further weathering has been added, the underside is about done bar the front and some merging in, grass staining has been added around all the undercarriages, but a little bit of weathering is still needed.

PLEASE POST comments, so i can add to it if you think it needs something, i still have the name to add to the stb side as well /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
