Hello everyone!

I would strongly vote for including at least one attack chopper in the game. There are many gamers that are interested in ultra-low level combat - that is, choppers.

All existing heli sims lack the one thing that is crucial - detailed and visually stunning terrain. Lock On has the power and it would be (in my opinion) a real tragedy if you would not include at least one flyable chopper.

So, please - I believe that adding just one chopper would boost sales of your game more than adding another aircraft.

I'd love to see a flyable helicopter or two (preferrably one for both 'sides') in the Lock On engine. Remember though a helicopter flight model is totally different from a fixed wing aircraft, so this would have to be coded from scratch. It's also still a big question how the trees will influence targeting systems or whether you can collide with them at all. Not such a big deal with planes, but this would affect the gameplay of a helicopter sim much more.

All in all the work would definitely be much higher compared to first producing more planes. Maybe it's still possible though in the more distant future... if all goes well, hopefully...

USAF looked great from alt, but when you got low the satlite pictures were way to course in rez to show any detail. Look horrible from down low. LOMAC has a lot better rez of textures at low alt.

Regarding helicopters:

Well they could try to release a "helicopter patch" with an "unperfect" flight model, like they did in F2.5 with the mig 29, whose flight model was recognized as average by professional pilots who flied the mig29 in real life...

That way they could measure the enthusiasm of the community for that kind of product (a helo sim based on the LOMAC world) and have a better idea of wether they will model flyable helos in LOMAC II?

I really think you should be careful with your many definite statements like "of course". The Jane's USAF terrain was one of the worst when it came to providing low-altitude detail, sense of speed, and a correct representation of scale. I hated it, and I can hardly understand how anyone could prefer it to Lock On's terrain.

My guess is you're rather still annoyed because Lock On doesn't model your pet planes and look for ways to bash it, which is quite uncalled for.

You also seem to present a real lack of knowledge around here no matter if it's about graphics engines, differences between the F-15C and E, the F-22 development, sim development in general, other countries' planes, or only orthography.

Why not listen a bit more to what other people have to say here and be a bit more open to their suggestions and reasoning?

As to the quality of the terrain - that's exactly my point:
for all those that prefer high altitude combat satellite photos used as textures may look fine.

I prefer low and ultra-low level flight, I prefer using cover given by terrain than relying on jamming when flying on high altitude.

It is much more important to add depth to the terrain by modelling all the details, even if it doesn't look entirely real. If I might say - in my opinion first flying sim that had it right was Tornado (anyone remeber this oldie?). Last sim where it was made good, maybe not brilliant but good was Commanche vs Ho***.

Of course no other sim even compares to the visual quality of Lock On - so please, consider including a chopper in your game...

Oh, by the way - if you needed a look on how the flight dynamics and other stuff was made in Commanche vs Ho***, I think they (Razorworks) posted source code to the sim on their site

Hi all!

First of all i can t wait to but this beauty ! No doubt it will be the game of the year :-p
I just regret that the Rafale is not in the list of the aircraft... A such beautiful plane should be in a beautiful game ...

Anyway, the game is still huge even without the rafale

Cheers

I think there can be no reasonable doubt, from what we've seen so far, that Lock On will be the first sim to have stunning visuals for both high and low altitude. Also note how detailed the roads are, or how well bridges are integrated with the terrain (instead of just standing on it).

You can't ask for more in this department currently.

That was my point http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

With such terrain as in Lock-On all this sim needs is a low-level combat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Chopper, at least one, plz? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
