Tune in Gehn's bedroom

Is there anybody still here to help an old lady ??? I play the tune in Gehn's room and then I go to the prison. In the rear of the elevator is a thing with a handle and three levers that do make noise but nothing is similar to the noises in the ball in Gehn's bedroom. I am sooooo stuck here and yet soo close to the end of this game. I have figured out most of it by myself but I really need some expert HELP PLEASE!!!

There are distinctly different sounds made by the spherical "clock" or "ball" in Gehn's lair. At least in my copy of Riven, those sounds are duplicated exactly by the elevator buttons. Are you saying the sounds are not the same? Or that you have matched the sound sequence and the elevator will not work?

Try assigning letters like "A," "B," and "C" to the sounds in the ball, then writing down the pattern sequence, like A, B, C, C, B. Then go to the elevator and punch in the same pattern. That should get results.

Thanks to you I have finished the game...boohoo on that too..hate for it to be over!!! I did as you suggested and assigned letters to the sounds and it WAS the rythmn....didn't use the third lever at all and voila! Catherine was freed. It took me some time to figure out how to input the code on the stargate but wow...what a game! I am now ready to embark on Exile and order the rest!!! Funny I have just now discovered video games and I am in my fifties!!!! Thank you so much for your help..!!

You are welcome. The only real disappointment I felt after finishing Riven was that I couldn't walk into Tay. I keep hoping it will show up in a later game, but so far no...
