I upgraded a few months ago to a Athlon 64 x2 4200+ system so decided to install Vista x64.

Graw, Timeshift, R6-Vegas all struggled to get a playable framerate..and later games just were totally unplayable.

So I've finally had the time to drop the system back down to XP x86 and WOW...Graw and all the above are smooth as hell, My SLI 6600GT now actually works in SLI mode and everything is now playable.

I thought the 64bit OS with the 64 bit CPU would rule but apparently not.

So XP v Vista, XP wins if you want to play games.

Try your test with 32 bit vista and see what happens.

Those sims work fine on my vista 32 bit.

From a tec feedback point of view.

Vista causes a lot more problems than xp on all game titles.

Best avoided untill 1st Quarter 2008

It's not really problems as in bugs/crashes or incompatabilities, it's more just the way that Vista grabs resources and then just won't let go.

After 15 years in IT I got out of it because I got sick and tired of getting blamed by users for thier own stupidity...Makes you wonder why I play games as bug/crash wise they are the worse!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, kinda like the chicken or the egg, right? the way I see it is that IT people would love nothing more than normal people (read: those who didn't studied to become IT gurus or work in the computer industry) would learn to use computers to make their job easier... if computer programmers would think that their games are being played by everyone and they would make whatever they do with the noobs in mind, everything would work better, look and feel would be better, but noooooo, they want their geeky ways to be the norm, hence, the problems.

that's just my opinion of course... I could be wrong! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well for a few examples to my specified level of IDIOT USERS:

People who think that turning off the monitor is shutting down the PC

One secretary who thought a right mouse click was done by moving the mouse to the right then clicking the left button

One person who thought that she couldn't catch a virus if her computer was kept in a warm room

People who think that fake virus warnings are real and have to pass them onto everyone, including thier favourite computer tech http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

There are many articles and bench tests out at the moment that put xp still in the driving seat for gameing dual boot is a good option if you need to use both.
