Hi all,
i play the game always with fraps on and on the menu of selection if i wanna play sp or mp i saw 85fps wich would be my monitros refesh rate (85hz)... but after some days ill get only 64 fps and the mp game is stuck at 32 fps in the menu and goes up-down in the game (like from 100fps down to 25fps) wich is far more bad then to have it fixed at 45 fps... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
someone knows this problem is there a fix? I know reinstalling works but actually is there another fix????
My System:
P4 3.00ghz
Ati Radeon 9800xt Cat 4.4
Win Xp Pro Sp1
Audigy 2 all drivers up-to-date...

Well firstly, your refresh rate does not equal your frames per second. Simply doesn't.
Next point, of course the menu's are going to be locked at a low fps value (ie. 32fps), why would you need a high fps count for browsing menus?
Unfortunately the swing in your fps will be pretty common from what I've heard from other forum members. Naturally, when you're in non graphic-intensive areas your video card isn't working as hard and can handle its own, but as you get into busier territory your fps drops. This is pretty normal. The only thing I can say is that I believe the game's coding to not be optimal. Hopefully when UBI gets off its *** and releases some performance-enhancing patches instead of just worrying about fixing bugs, we'll see some dramatic improvements. For your setup, the game *should* be running at least at a pretty constant 60-80fps I'd say, the fact that it isn't is a testiment to what I suspect to be splinter cell pc being ported almost directly from console code.

refresh rate does equal your framerate when your videocard tops out with vsync on. as for why you got 85 and now less, i have no clue but i can tell you that i never see more than ~65fps with my 9800xt.

I have noticed the same limit. In-game I cap out at 64FPS, in the menus at 32FPS.

I have v-sync turned off, and I edited the default.ini to change the desired refresh rate to 85, doesn't seem to help http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

I edited the .ini file as well and get in the menue 39/40 fps.
In Game it stucks at 40 fps (1240x1024).
My system:
Athlon 64 3200+
GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
1 GB Corsair Ram DDR400 CL 2-2-2-6-1T
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
WindowsXP Pro
All Drivers up to date.

What refresh rate number did you set in your .ini file?

I've put it to 75, since the max refresh rate of my TFT (<--- do they really have a rr?) is 75.

If you put it to anything else than the current rr of your monitor, it will stuck at 32.

How do you get FPS in-game? Please tell me the command.

Edit: thanks eightpack

Go to www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) and get this program. It shows you the fps in every Game.

this game is a xbox port. So the xbox was capped, and the nice people at ubisoft didnt bother to code this game as it should have been for the pc. Once they get off their *** and patch this game up, maybe they will add some optimization.

i have gone through and changed the .ini plenty, trying to see what changes what. And in conclusion, nothing changes anything it seemed. I even turned 16bit textures on and it didnt change it. i dont have fraps, so no screens to prove it. But u can try for urself.
I used the online/system defualt.ini
and changed the settings under the d3dblahblhablha.d3dblahblah engine settings
nothing did anything. Not sure how this game is excatly running now if it isnt using the ini lol.

that doesnt do anything anyway. ive done everything to test what would make it better. Looked up what options did what, changed them, and they didnt do anything. if this game is using a .ini, it isnt the one in the online/system defualt.ini.

Incredible but heres the solution... Run Msn Messenger in the background it will only take 2 or 3 ms of ping but gives you 85 fps in the menu where u can select sp or mp heres the proof:
No Msn!!! (http://www.ystart.net/upload/20040418/1082322565.jpg)

With MSN!!!! (http://www.ystart.net/upload/20040418/1082322653.jpg)

Kinda strange HUH? but try it it works, and dont worry msn is spyware and ad-ware free i alredy scanned with adaware spybot s&d + spware destroyer and Norton Anti Virus so no worries here... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif
