I thought I should check the stuff running (control, alt, delete) on my computer against the security risks shown here:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/
I was really surprised to see sychost.exe appear several times. It appears to be a well known virus and looks for passwords etc. I was surprised because I run Norton, Sygate, Adware and Spybot latest version.
Anyone know how I get rid of this pest?

Hi BG...S!
You need to be sure of the spelling when you read this.
svchost.exe is commonly seen in the Processes list, it's needed by the OS.
The other spellings - such as svchost s.exe - in that list are the ones to worry about.
Hope this helps http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks Steve. I will sort through all the information at that website. It may not be a virus after all. Svchost.exe seems to be part of Windows 32. The virus is named Svhost.exe. Very close but not the same. However, I will sleep better when I know for sure.

You are quite right x6BL_Brando. I should have read it more closely. Seems I don't have the bad stuff. Thanks for your input.
I think it was a very worthwhile exercise to compare tasks running with that list.
