New S5 site should arrive shortly, I saw an early version late last week which had some problems but I'm expecting to see a new version this week.

I hope you are right Razz. I find that English speaking players have been treated unfairly and there's no denying that Ubisoft and Bluebyte have been quite arrogant towards us.

Maybe it's a wild guess but I'm pretty sure that a good percentage of people who have been buying into the settlers serie are either from the UK or US. However the rest of the european countries are more likely to have English as a second language than German.

If they are able to create a German site (already up and running) I can't see how hard it can be to translate it into English. At least they should have the decency to release both sites (English and German) at the same time.

This is not a rant against German speakers. If Bluebyte wants to be insular and market their products only to German players: be my guest.

Having said that I have the feeling that's not the case and that they want to market their software to the widest audience possible. Well, I'm sorry to rain on their parade but English is the lingua franca on the internet and game industry (for now). Wake up and smell the coffee.

I truly enjoy playing Settlers but if I don't see any change in attitude towards English speakers from Ubisoft/Bluebyte than I think I'll cancel my S5 preorder with amazon.

Sorry to have let off that much steam guys.....

PS: before you flame me about English language colonialism, I just want to put on record that English is not my mother-tongue: so I'm not biased because I was not born into it....

Actually, the biggest Settlers community in the world is German which is why the site is done for them and then translated into English. Unfortunately there's lots of people that have to sign off the site first, myself included, and I wasn't satisfied that it was up to scratch so it's been delayed until the changes have been made.

I really don't know what's happened here before with Settlers, Ubisoft, and Bluebyte, but I'm going to be around from now on to try and do my best for you guys so at least give me a chance :P

@Fabyon: I have to agree wholeheartedly with your comments,but would like to add that the UBI/BB situation was very deep and political,and best now forgotten.That aside BB have always been prepared to help when asked to do so,so please dont lay the blame totally on their doorstep.As Razz rightly said Settlers is far bigger in Germany than the rest of the whole,its a german game so stands to reason.The idea was for both sites to be launched together but hey it didnt happen we can live with that,if we need to see any new info on HOK,go look on the german forum and translate.
Over the last 18 months to 2 years since we were "taken" over by UBI,I myself have given UBI some stick,both on the forum and also in emails.We now have to at least give Razz a chance to prove that UBI are at last interested in the UK /rest of the world market,its early days yet,but we at least have someone from UBI on here now,surely that can only be a step in the right direction.

Lets not hang him before hes had a fair trial please

Penny, I do apologise for my rant but it wasn't meant to attack Razz.

As for the German settlers community being the largest that doesn't surprise me as people have been put off by not having any updates on the s4.com site. In checking both sites (German and English) it's plain to see that one got left behind.

However I'm sure that with Razz help the English speaking community will have a chance to catch up.

Let's wait and see 8-)

Hi guys im new around here but im a old Settlers fan who enjoyed The Settlers 1 and 2 the most, while I never really got into the last 2 games :/ I have high hopes for the 5th edition and seeing they are having it set in a medival world and you start with your main castle just like in the 2 first games really made my eyes open up http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Wish we can have roads for the settlers to travel with goods like the old games had too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

IMHO the roads were a down side to the earlier games,I should hate to see them back again,but seeing as HOK isnt very settlerish,chances are the roads wont be there

That I dont aggee on that at all, it just takes practice to plan roads and building for max effiency.
