My wife is going to get breast implantsin the very near future (1-2 months) and Im trying to figure the best way to insert them without a scar, obviously the easiest way is to cut under the breast (I had a gf do this once and they give you a cream to apply to reduce the scar, however in a year ater the surgery the scar was still there). I have heard of inserting them through the armpit and belly button. Anyone have any input (I would like to look some what intelligent with my wife and the surgeon, like I put some thought into this)? Shes about 5'3, 115 lbs and wants a full D, Im thinking that a full C might look more proportional, but then again Im a porn advocate so Im completely disorientated. Now if this isnt off topic, I dont know what is.

Not to belabor the obvious, but why don't the both of you talk to the surgeon about it? It stands to reason that they would have a significant amount of knowledge about the subject.

Your missing the point (Or more than likely I didnt explain it correctly), I'm lazy (Dont wanna research it) but I want to look intelligent before I go in there for the consultation.

Lol. I just thought that you wanted to solicit more opinions. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I have heard of inserting them through the armpit, and have been told that it is a longer recover period than normal. I do not know about the level of scarring. However, it would seem logical that insertion through the navel would be more complicated and hazardous. Generally you want surgery, particularly elective cosmetic surgery, to be as non-invasive as possible.
Why don't you do a web search for "surgery"+"implants"+"scarring" to see what pops up? It should be about as much effort as posting here. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

To minimize scarring, there are two accepted types of incisions: axillary (armpit) and umbilibcal (belly button). Ask your plastic surgeon about those two methods if you're concerned about the visiblity of the scars, since the periareolar and inframammory incisions are far more obvious.
Sorry, I have a nephew that's studying to be a plastic surgeon, so I hear about this stuff all the time... hehe

Hey .wit, we have had 3 kids and her tummy, while flat as a board, has done some stretching, is there a procedure that could tighten that back up without looking totally obvious? And yes, the web is a great tool for searching, but its more inteeresting here, plus someone could have a better idea or lead us down a different direction rather than a surgeons website (We have looked around) catering to "selling" the surgery.

Yes, there are a number of procedures to tighten up skin that are used fairly regularly.

The most common one is probably the one you've heard most often: an abdominoplasty, otherwise known as a Tummy-Tuck.

Btw Wit, other than the fact that it is nice to see you again, your new sig quote is hysterical. That is one of my favorite "engineer" jokes. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just out of curiousity (and I don't mean to be insulting), does she want this surgery, or do you want her to have this surgery (It's ok, if the answer is both of you)? I was just a little taken aback by the question about tummy tucks in addition to the breast implants.
Wit, how in the world do they put in breast implants through the belly button?
OMG, that's the funniest sig text I've ever seen.

Totally her... She brought the idea to me (Who am I to stand in the way). Just to let you know, shes not a train wreck, lol. In my eyes shes completely beautiful. However, its not what I think, its how she perceives herself. With the way life is, you might as well do whatever makes you happy in the short time your here.. Thanks for the info guys.

Just make sure the dr that would do the surgery is not a quack. Get references because if the surgeon is not a good one your wife and you will be even more unhappy. You seemed to be concearned with the scar but there are alot more things to be concearned about like how even the breasts will be or how firm they will feel.....unless you like the feeling of a rock.
that is why you need to make sure you find a good surgeon that gets good results.

They have to use an endoscope to do it. The physician makes a spot for the implant under the chest or breast muscle(s) to slip it into by using some sort of tissue expander thing.

I know it's your decision and not mine, but just an opinion, if she's 5'3" and 115 pounds, I think neither D or C would be proportional, B at most.
Besides, why are we all so vain all of a sudden? Are our looks and what others think about you really worth the thousands of dollars that can be spent on things you actually need to sustain your life?
BTW, if your surgeon isn't sitting down and telling you the best options and what he thinks is the best size, you're at the wrong surgeon. Never go with someone who will just do whatever she wants him to do, get one that will advise her to do what he feels is the best choice.

go for the belly button incision. very little scarring with that procedure--my own wife had it done. be ready, though, for the second or third surgery when they come out and are replaced with new implants (or bigger ones). in follow-up procedures the incision will have to take place somewhere else, either under the breast or under the arm.
it's all about whether it's worth it to (1) her and (2) to you, since you're helping her pay for it.
my wife and i have been pretty happy with her decision... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I say stick with real boobs too, but if you gotta get the implants be careful going too big for the one reason that bothers me most: when a women with over large implants leans over, the reulting tension makes the sides of the breast ripple like a plastic beach ball, 0r like the sides over a rubber pool float or something. Quite unattractive.
Might be best to start smaller and work your way up.

Knock knock... ze doctor (partially) is in.
I don't know too much about plastic surgery, but I can tell you that a C should be fine, she does sound slim. Belly button seems a tad far-fetched (It could, but I have never heard of such). Armpit can work, but she MIGHT have sensitive/shabby skin from the top of the breast to her armpit for a few weeks after operation.
To tell you the truth, other areas offer different plans and ideas, so my best advice is to just ask whoever your surgeon is what he/she has to offer.
My biggest concern(No pun, dammit, no pun!!) is safety. Ask a LOT of questions of breast cancer risks, infections, ect.
Hope I helped.

yep, there really is a surgery that goes through the belly button. the incision is made at the belly button and the implants are moved through that tiny cut. they're filled with saline when they've been positioned at the breasts. it leaves only the tiny little scar at the navel, though, as i said, to remove them an incision has to be made somewhere else, underneath the breast i would imagine. i suppose it might not be possible to remove them through the armpit--but i don't know that for sure. come to think of it, this procedure might not even be practiced outside of the States, but my wife had it done where we live in arizona.
