View Full Version : What Improvements or Additions would you include in Pandora Tomorrow?

First off Volkan thanks for the link to the survey. That was so cool. I forgot to sign up for a newsletter so I would have missed out.
This is what I would like to see improved, added, tweaked and/or included in Pandora Tomorrow:
1) Projectiles: I would like to be able use the projectiles used with the SC-20k from a greater distance and with greater accuracy. Perhaps there could be more projectiles too.
Suggestion:Modify the sniper mode so that once you've locked the position of the enemy you can release a projectile and incapacitate them while they are in the shadows etc. This would greatly improve the distance and accuracy of the projectiles used in this game from long distances.
2) Sniper mode: I love the sniper mode but it needs to be more accessible and easier to use. I liked being able to stop your breathing for a while to make a more accurate shot. But you couldn't do it long enough and the accuracy was just terrible. Sam Fisher is a highly capable splinter cell operative and it would be realistic for him to be able to hold his breathe longer or better yet be able to slow it down to improve the accuracy of his shots.
Suggestion:Include 4x or 10x magnifications within the scope of the SC-20k, to be accessed, when using it as a sniper rifle.
3)I would like see more of how Sam gets to missions.
Suggestion: Perhaps we could see Sam in a helicopter talking to Lambert or Grimsdottir. Maybe it could even be more interactive where we could swim as Sam to the next mission objective or even use a rocket launcher to eliminate any enemies that impede him from getting to his extraction point.
4)Improve the unusual aspects of the game.
Suggestion: I would like to see the lights removed from Sam's suit. It is impossible to perform stealth operations with bright or even dimly lit lights on your person. This would take care of those occurrences in the game when your are completely hidden in the shadows and still a guard, by some miracle, can see you and end your mission. (Very annoying)
5) More portable explosives like C4 etc that Sam can use to modify or interact with the mission environments.
6) I want the game to be very well polished. I don't want to see glitches where hands aren't shimmying onto objects, or be able to see through walls that I shouldn't, or have a body disappear when your trying to hide it,things like that.

Chloroform, to the best of my knowledge, is a chemical that can be used,in concentrated amounts, to quickly incapacitate or knock out someone when placed over the nose or mouth of an individual. Chloroform would be a great addition to Pandora Tomorrow.

I'm with you on quite a few points there SpiritulChick.
Showing Sam's insertion into the target zone would do alot with helping continuity. Meaning it would help link the missions together.
Also one thing I think Ubi Soft can do is to show the newsflashes in the context of the story. Having that Lambert guy saying "Fisher! You better take a look at this!" and then patching the newsfeed into the Opsrey's sattelitte reciever. This way the events are tied into the Sam's actions a little better. This also might help to build tension and put more emphasis on why Sam is on the missions. One thing I felt that was wrong with Splinter Cell was that the events seemed like a bunch of seperate incidents with no common thread tying them together. Showing the newsfeeds in the storyline would probably help more.
Also, having Sam being briefed en route to the target zone might help with the continuity issue.
Overall the game needs more "emotion". Too many times characters were almost deadpanning their dialogue. I was waiting for that Lambert guy to say "Fisher you need to stay focused! Remember why you're here!". I know Sam is supposed to be a veteran and probably very atuned to keeping his emotions in check, but again, this is something you can take some artistic license with. Better story elements and voice direction can help in this department.
Another thing they can do is have an actual PAYOFF for an ending!!
Send In The Clones!!

I think they could do a few things better.
they could have let you hold more ammo.
they could have had more items. they could have ID cards or access cards to get you thru. they could have AUV's like CYPHER or Goldeneye drop you packages. (yes, goldeneye is the name of an AUV) Or for you to look thru in your opsat.
They need to let sam hold more stickyshockers. I've had enough that I couldn't pick up any more and that meant I had to use them and go back to get them.
This would be cool. A projectile on a string that comes back to you automatically. used like a stickycamera, ony it won't go thru the elevator shaft never to be seen again.
Sponge tipped bullets to KO people.
Beanbag ammo.
reusable ring airfoil rounds.
Grappling hook to get you up onto things instead of just rappel down walls.

The FN7 might be sufficient for a limp wristed french secret agent, but a Silenced Baretta or Mk23SD .45 would be better for Sam Fisher.

First of all his night vision goggles dont raly glow, the gole is invisible to the human eye, its just for show and to help the player tell where they are when there in the dark.
i thought the sniper mode was fine, you could easily switch in and out of it and pick people off with ease. and the zoom was perfect for every situation, there was no need to have a 10x zoom function.
i agree with the projuctiles thing i wish i could use the scope with the projectiles, the real FN2000 has a targeting mechanism in the scope that lets you aim the launcher correctly.
im no expert but if you think about it, dont you have to arch your shots on most launchers of that type? i dont think the bottom launcher was realy what sam needed. he should have had an air gun or maby a rile mounted launcher that used compressed air to shoot the projectiles, that way they could be more accurate. and it could hold a clip so, sam could easily change what kind of projectile he wanted and wouldn have to reload after each shot.
he should be able to shoot tranqualizer darts to. and hypnosis darts that get people all crazy like their half asleep and that way he could get them to do things and they wouldnt be able to remember if it was a dream or real when they woke up and would probably be too embarassed to tell anyone because they would thihk they where sleeping on the job, tht way, the secrecy of sams mission wouldnt be compromised.

c4? this is splinter cell, it's about being stealthy, not alerting enemies. the grenades were a strech, but c4? you guys are idiots. i think that grenades and wall mines should be removed if anything. the only new weapon should be a combat knife you can throw or slit throats with.

While I appreciate your honesty, the name calling wasn't really necessary /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I did, however, like your idea about a combat knife. That would fit into the Splinter Cell theme. And while the grenades and wall mines may not tie in perfectly. I do think that in the current game...Sam didn't always have to do things with stealth especially as things started to escalate towards war he was given more latitude. Besides they were just cool as hell, and I am glad they put them in.heh.
NightCrawlerEvo, and Captain Hardock I really liked your ideas. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Cadmus you made some good points and I liked the tranquilizer idea...too cool. Gotta have the projectiles accessible in sniper mode though. just gotta.
Violin Wire (OMG that sounds so tight...I could just see Sam doing it now...and it would crush their windpipes so virtually no sound) Great idea Spinnaker.
emilkalaria your very welcome /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
usa320, yeah the pistol does seem kinda wimpy and once we got the SC-20k I hardly ever used it to be honest. I definitely hope they beef it up alot for the sequel.
Napalm? I not sure how it would work...I mean I know how Napalm works...it does sound kinda cool though...
Thanks for your ideas all...maybe Ubi will take some into consideration...let's keep putting em out here so they'll take notice.

I think you should be able to move sideways a little bit when rappelling, not just be able to go up or down. Sam should have a folding, T-shaped handle with a small wheel attached for zip line use. Your hands would get injured doing it Sam's way, even with gloves on. I think it has been said before, but having to put down a body to open a door was a pain, and you should have the option to just drag a body rather than pick it up. Dragging a body has advantages, such as speed, but to keep from overdoing it, put in some problems. For example, dragging a body over a rug would mess it up. Then another guard would see the rug and get suspicious. If they can notice broken lights, why not a crumpled rug?

Or you could have the C4 and go scuba diving or something, and swim up to a big ship full of drugs and arms for terrorist and blow it up. Lol fun
XyZspineZyX

Engineer1,
Great ideas. More flexibility on rappelling would be great and it does seem limited in the game. Although I never really thought about it until you mentioned it. I also like the T-Shaped handle idea.
OMG dragging the bodies would be so cool. Wouldn't it be too loud to drag bodies in some levels though.? I guess it couldn't be any more louder than Sam gasping for air while carrying the bodies though, right? lol
Adding obstacles/challenges to hiding the bodies would be cool. Hiding the bodies is an important and cool aspect of the game but it does grow tiresome after a while.
Ciaman479,
That would be fun. I am not sure if they would use it. But I could see a cut scence where they could show Sam swimming off to safety or getting picked up by Helicopter as He leaves the explosion in the distance, while talking to Lambert for Grimsdottir about the next mission. Good Fun.

there should be a kung-fu button that makes sam do a bunch of combos to take out his opponents and do a bunch of rolls and flips to evade gunfire.
and i think he should be able to use the stuff around him to make weapons and stuff
like if he went into a garage to hide, and he found some roofing nails, he could throw them like shurikens and if he found some thin wire, and materials for an explosive device he could make booby traps and stuff. or wire cutters so he could get through a barbed wire fence etc.or lets say he's out of ammo for his sc20k, why carry around all that weight for nothing? so he takes an ak-47, now those things are loud so he could use a pvc pipe, some cotton, and other stuff to fashion a silencer . sure it wouldnt work as well as a real one but it would keep people from hearing his shot from 3 miles away.
sam has all of those expensive gagets but a spy also has to be recourceful, hand grenades and pistols are great but his deadliest weapon is his brain. i think he should be able to use it.

I think the Kung Fu button is a little over the top and would probably attract too much attention...It might not support the aim of Splinter Cell...but sounds cool as hell.
I really like your idea of being able to use items from whatever environment Sam finds himself in. It would just open the game up considerably and increase the replay value. I kinda like some of the linear aspects of the game but I could see how this would be fun too..kinda like Macgyver...lol

OMG Spinnaker don't do that man, you had me laughing out loud with this thread and its a little after 8:00am here and I got neighbors. lol I could see how long that interact menu would be. Funny stuff. Sam's interact menu would be so long that they would probably stick it in his Op-SAT. lmao
NightCrawlerEvo I like the idea of Sam using a shoelace like strangling wire to incapacitate a guard and what not. I am not too fond of the idea of cheats for this game. I had a wonderful sense of accomplishment and esteem for myself after finishing this game the first time without any help whatsoever. I would be open to an invisibility cheat though.
Spam5000, That's at least two or three people who have mentioned wanting a knife in the game now...maybe they will include it. I know I mentioned it in my survey. That would be cool. LASER POINT sounds so tight. I could see Sam sneakin up on "some poor unsuspecting fool" and put a red laser dot on his chest and hearing the guard say, oh how did that happen. lol
Good ideas.

-the first splinter cell was WAY WAY too linear--there should be more freedom of movement...for example, in the CIA, it shouldnt be so obvious where to go...it will take some guesswork.
-the HALO jump---i wanted to either see it in a movie-clip, or make him open the chute manually as part of a mission.
-missions that let you drive, hijack, or get in vehicles....and allow tires to be flattened, windows to be brokened
-allow decor to be knocked over if not caredful...like a vase or such...making you be more careful
-The final scene where Sam runs to the Osprey after leaving the Presidents mansion was also a movie clip. I was hoping it would have been the final mission...no ammo, just run like hell manuallly. i hope PT allows that at the end...
-If the technology is there--reflective mirrors.
-FINALLY--and this is my FAVORITE IDEA:
-my father has a device NAVY SEALS use called Wolfears. They look like ear protectors, and are just that. but theres a button on the side. when you press it, you can hear minute details....footsteps coming down stairs from around a corner, whispering/talking of enimies, or distant CBs.....
essentially, it is like a telescope for the ears. Becomes very sensitive to even people walking barefoot on a carpet.
just some ideas
hope people read this

I like the grapple hook idea, the knife but no need for a medievil dagger though/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif the laser site was good too.And the dart.
But I would like the bottle throwing to be easier.
And other hand to hand combat moves would be better.
I think a small, portable slingshot would be good (for destracting enemies)
I think you should not have a silencer. But instead you kick the enemy down then gab a pillow press that to the head then press the gun into it and Bang! A homade silencer.
P.S. A PVC pipe and cotten wool would be useless because silencers don't even work like that. I would draw you guys a picture if I could (easily) They eliminate the Pop! noise that is made when shooting a gun. A silencer has a cavitey where the air can go in and allow the bullet to pass at the last minute without so much pressure That is why A silencer lessons the power of the gun it is equiped to. As for a flash sur pressor I don't know how they work.
Who needs ammo when you have cammo.

I would include a Combat Knife as many people have said, C4, and a dart gun because in The missions where you can't kill anyone a dart gun would be easier to use than having to go up to the guy and Knock him out with your elbow or havin to use up Sticky Shockers and Ring Airfoil Rounds.

In the movie The Sum of All Fears this guy who is kind of splinter cell-ish goes on this mission and takes this aerosol can with him that he uses to make holes in fences. Maybe that could work /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

It would also be cool if Sam went into this warehouse, then found out it was filled with chemicals...
Lambert: Sam! Grim pulled up the schematics on this warehouse. It was abandoned after a chemical explosion nearby about 5 years ago.
Sam: Why didnt I find out before I went in? You could've given me a suit.
Lambert: There's no time for that now. Just find a chemical suit, get your objectives finished, and GET THE HELL OUTA THERE!
Sam: Will do...
and then Sam has to knock out a guard, steal his gas mask and suit, and continue with his objectives. Don't you think that'd be cool?

They're all good additions but i'd add:
a knife or somthing to take hostage or stab them instead of just kncking them out with his elbow.
the ability to hold more items eg medical kits, stickey shockers etc.
the effect of enemy bodies interacting with environments so that when you put the down near a wall or something you can't see their heads on the other side.
bit more blood. when you sniper someone in the head they don't even bleed!.
you should be able to move dog bodies.
increas the power of frag grenades (shooting a wall mine is more powerful).
shoot secondary weapons in sniper mode.
thats it for now but i'll probable think of some more
XyZspineZyX

nah i always think a knife is too bloody
though blood wasnt a main feature in the game, it is somewhat cold blooded, and they wanted to keep that sort of violence out of a game that is meant for young teenagers
you want cold blooded murder, play Hitman

I would like the missions to be ghostable by player choice. I didn't like some SC missions that required killing or K.O. to proceed. Ninja's are skilled assassins, yes. They only kill when necessary, otherwise they are ghosts. The enemy and bystanders never know the ninja was there.

Fisher isnt a ninja though, he is a Third Echelon Operative
Ninjas are Japanese by default

but the guards not noticing dead dogs is the stupidest thing going...they should notice them...
what would be really cool is if you could hold a human body and hold it as a human shield...
kind of like in die hard
when people shot you they shoot him...
XyZspineZyX

Exactly it isn't realistic if the guards don't see (or don't give a s**t) about the dogs.

no i mean...
when they shoot you....hold the body to absorb the bullets...
like in total recal or die or any other action movie...the already dead body becomes the target
